1 Thus heaven and earth were completed with al their array.	1 Furono adunque compiuti i cieli, e la terra, e tutto l'ornato loro.
2 On the seventh day God had completed the work he had been doing. He rested on the seventh dayafter al the work he had been doing.	2 E Dio ebbe compiuta il settimo giorno l'opera, ch'egli avea fatta: e riposò il settimo giorno da tutte le opere, che avea compiute.
3 God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day he rested after al his work ofcreating.	3 E benedisse il settimo giorno, e lo santificò: perché in esso avea riposato da tutte le opere, che Dio avea create e fatte.
4 Such was the story of heaven and earth as they were created. At the time when Yahweh God madeearth and heaven	4 Tale fu la origine del cielo, e della terra, quando l'uno, e l'altra fu creata nel giorno, in cui il Signore Dio fece il cielo, e la terra.
5 there was as yet no wild bush on the earth nor had any wild plant yet sprung up, for Yahweh God hadnot sent rain on the earth, nor was there any man to til the soil.	5 E tutte le piante de' campi, prima che nascessero sulla terra, e tutte l'erbe della terra, prima che (da essa) spuntassero: imperocché il Signore non avea mandato pioggia sopra la terra; e uomo non era, che la coltivasse.
6 Instead, water flowed out of the ground and watered al the surface of the soil.	6 Ma saliva dalla terra una fonte ad inaffiare la superficie della terra.
7 Yahweh God shaped man from the soil of the ground and blew the breath of life into his nostrils, andman became a living being.	7 Il Signore Dio adunque formò l'uomo di fango della terra, e gl'ispirò in faccia un soffio di vita: e l'uomo fu fatto anima vivente.
8 Yahweh God planted a garden in Eden, which is in the east, and there he put the man he hadfashioned.	8 Or il Signore avea piantato da principio un paradiso di delizie; dove collocò l'uomo, che avea formato.
9 From the soil, Yahweh God caused to grow every kind of tree, enticing to look at and good to eat, withthe tree of life in the middle of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.	9 E il Signor Dio avea prodotto dalla terra ogni sorta di piante belle a vedersi, e di frutto dolce a mangiare, e l'albero eziandio della vita in mezzo al paradiso, e l'albero della scienza del bene e del male.
10 A river flowed from Eden to water the garden, and from there it divided to make four streams.	10 E da questo luogo di delizie scaturiva un fiume ad inaffiare il paradiso, il qual (fiume) di là si divide in quattro capi.
11 The first is named the Pishon, and this winds al through the land of Havilah where there is gold.	11 Uno dicesi Phison; ed è quello, che gira attorno il paese di Hevilath, dove nasce l'oro.
12 The gold of this country is pure; bdel ium and cornelian stone are found there.	12 E l'oro di quel paese è ottimo: ivi trovasi il bdellio, e la pietra oniche.
13 The second river is named the Gihon, and this winds all through the land of Cush.	13 E il nome del secondo fiume è Gehon: ed è quello che gira per tutta la terra d'Etiopia.
14 The third river is named the Tigris, and this flows to the east of Ashur. The fourth river is theEuphrates.	14 Il nome poi del terzo fiume è Tigri, che scorre verso gli Assirii. E il quarto fiume egli è l'Eufrate.
15 Yahweh God took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden to cultivate and take care of it.	15 Il Signore Dio adunque prese l'uomo, e lo collocò nel paradiso di delizie, affinché lo coltivasse e lo custodisse.
16 Then Yahweh God gave the man this command, 'You are free to eat of al the trees in the garden.	16 E gli fé comando, dicendo: Mangia di tutte le piante del paradiso.
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you are not to eat; for, the day you eat of that, youare doomed to die.'	17 Ma del frutto dell'albero della scienza del bene e del male non mangiarne: imperocché in qualunque giorno tu ne mangerai, indubitatamente morrai.
18 Yahweh God said, 'It is not right that the man should be alone. I shal make him a helper.'	18 Disse ancora Dio: Non è bene, che l'uomo sia solo: facciamogli un aiuto, che a lui rassomigli.
19 So from the soil Yahweh God fashioned al the wild animals and al the birds of heaven. These hebrought to the man to see what he would call them; each one was to bear the name the man would give it.	19 Avendo adunque il Signore Dio formati dalla terra tutti gli animali terrestri, e tutti gli uccelli dell'aria, li condusse ad Adamo, perché ei vedesse il nome da darsi ad essi: e ognun de' nomi, che diede Adamo agli animali viventi, è il vero nome di essi.
20 The man gave names to al the cattle, al the birds of heaven and all the wild animals. But no helpersuitable for the man was found for him.	20 E Adamo impose nomi convenienti a tutti gli animali, e a tutti i volatili dell'aria, e a tutte le bestie della terra: ma non si trovava per Adamo un aiuto, che a lui somigliasse.
21 Then, Yahweh God made the man fal into a deep sleep. And, while he was asleep, he took one of hisribs and closed the flesh up again forthwith.	21 Mandò adunque il Signore Dio ad Adamo un profondo sonno; e mentre egli era addormentato, gli tolse una delle sue costole, e mise in luogo di essa della carne.
22 Yahweh God fashioned the rib he had taken from the man into a woman, and brought her to the man.	22 E della costola, che avea tolto da Adamo, ne fabbricò il Signore Dio una donna: e menolla ad Adamo.
23 And the man said: This one at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh! She is to be cal edWoman, because she was taken from Man.	23 E Adamo disse: Questo adesso osso delle mie ossa, e carne della mia carne, ella dall'uomo avrà il nome, perocché è stata tratta dall'uomo.
24 This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached to his wife, and they becomeone flesh.	24 Per la qual cosa l'uomo lascerà il padre suo, e la madre, e starà unito alla sua moglie, e i due saranno sol una carne.
25 Now, both of them were naked, the man and his wife, but they felt no shame before each other.	25 E l'uno e l'altra, Adamo cioè, e la sua moglie, erano ignudi; e non ne aveano vergogna.
