NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 Thus heaven and earth were completed with al their array.	1 Elkészült tehát az ég és a föld, s azok minden ékessége.
2 On the seventh day God had completed the work he had been doing. He rested on the seventh dayafter al the work he had been doing.	2 A hetedik napra befejezte Isten a munkáját, amelyet végzett, és a hetedik napon megnyugodott minden munkától, amelyet végzett.
3 God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day he rested after al his work ofcreating.	3 Megáldotta Isten és megszentelte a hetedik napot, mert azon nyugodott el minden munkájától, amelyet végezve teremtett Isten.
4 Such was the story of heaven and earth as they were created. At the time when Yahweh God madeearth and heaven	4 Ez volt az ég és föld története a teremtésükben. Azon a napon, amelyen az Úr Isten megalkotta az eget és a földet,
5 there was as yet no wild bush on the earth nor had any wild plant yet sprung up, for Yahweh God hadnot sent rain on the earth, nor was there any man to til the soil.	5 még semmiféle mezei bokor nem hajtott a földön, és semmilyen fű nem sarjadt, ugyanis még nem hullatott az Úr Isten esőt a földre, és ember sem volt, aki művelje a földet.
6 Instead, water flowed out of the ground and watered al the surface of the soil.	6 Akkor forrás fakadt a földből, és megöntözte a föld egész színét.
7 Yahweh God shaped man from the soil of the ground and blew the breath of life into his nostrils, andman became a living being.	7 Megalkotta tehát az Úr Isten az embert a föld agyagából, az orrába lehelte az élet leheletét, és az ember élőlénnyé lett.
8 Yahweh God planted a garden in Eden, which is in the east, and there he put the man he hadfashioned.	8 Ültetett az Úr Isten egy kertet Édenben, keleten, és elhelyezte benne az embert, akit alkotott.
9 From the soil, Yahweh God caused to grow every kind of tree, enticing to look at and good to eat, withthe tree of life in the middle of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.	9 S növesztett az Úr Isten a földből mindenféle fát, amelyet látni szép és melyről enni jó – az élet fáját is a kert közepén, s a jó és a rossz tudásának fáját.
10 A river flowed from Eden to water the garden, and from there it divided to make four streams.	10 Folyóvíz jött ki Édenből, hogy öntözze a kertet, utána pedig négy ágra szakadt.
11 The first is named the Pishon, and this winds al through the land of Havilah where there is gold.	11 Az egyiknek a neve Píson: ez az, amelyik körüljárja Hevilának egész földjét, ahol az arany terem –
12 The gold of this country is pure; bdel ium and cornelian stone are found there.	12 annak a földnek az aranya igen jó, s ott található a bdellium és az ónixkő. –
13 The second river is named the Gihon, and this winds all through the land of Cush.	13 A második folyó neve Gíhon: ez az, amelyik körüljárja Etiópia egész földjét.
14 The third river is named the Tigris, and this flows to the east of Ashur. The fourth river is theEuphrates.	14 A harmadik folyó neve Tigris: ez folyik az asszírok felé; a negyedik folyó pedig az Eufrátesz.
15 Yahweh God took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden to cultivate and take care of it.	15 Fogta tehát az Úr Isten az embert, és az Éden kertjébe helyezte, hogy művelje és őrizze meg.
16 Then Yahweh God gave the man this command, 'You are free to eat of al the trees in the garden.	16 Azt parancsolta az Úr Isten az embernek: »A kert minden fájáról ehetsz,
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you are not to eat; for, the day you eat of that, youare doomed to die.'	17 de a jó és gonosz tudásának fájáról ne egyél, mert azon a napon, amelyen eszel róla, meg kell halnod!«
18 Yahweh God said, 'It is not right that the man should be alone. I shal make him a helper.'	18 Azt mondta továbbá az Úr Isten: »Nem jó, hogy az ember egyedül van: alkossunk hozzá illő segítőt is!«
19 So from the soil Yahweh God fashioned al the wild animals and al the birds of heaven. These hebrought to the man to see what he would call them; each one was to bear the name the man would give it.	19 Az Úr Isten ugyanis megalkotta a földből a föld minden állatát és az ég összes madarát, és odavezette őket az emberhez, hogy lássa, minek nevezi el őket – mert minden élőlénynek az lett a neve, aminek az ember elnevezte. –
20 The man gave names to al the cattle, al the birds of heaven and all the wild animals. But no helpersuitable for the man was found for him.	20 Meg is adta az ember a maga nevét minden állatnak és az ég összes madarának és a föld minden vadjának, de az embernek nem akadt magához illő segítője.
21 Then, Yahweh God made the man fal into a deep sleep. And, while he was asleep, he took one of hisribs and closed the flesh up again forthwith.	21 Ezért az Úr Isten mély álmot bocsátott az emberre, s amikor elaludt, kivette egyik bordáját, és hússal töltötte ki a helyét.
22 Yahweh God fashioned the rib he had taken from the man into a woman, and brought her to the man.	22 Azután az Úr Isten asszonnyá formálta a bordát, amelyet az emberből kivett, és odavezette az emberhez.
23 And the man said: This one at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh! She is to be cal edWoman, because she was taken from Man.	23 Az ember ekkor azt mondta: »Ez végre csont az én csontomból, és hús az én húsomból! Legyen a neve feleség, mert a férfiből vétetett!«
24 This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached to his wife, and they becomeone flesh.	24 Ezért elhagyja a férfi apját és anyját, a feleségéhez ragaszkodik, és egy testté lesznek.
25 Now, both of them were naked, the man and his wife, but they felt no shame before each other.	25 Az ember és a felesége mezítelenek voltak mindketten, de nem szégyellték magukat.
