NEW AMERICAN BIBLENOVA VULGATA
As for yourself, you must say what is consistent with sound doctrine, namely,1 Tu autem loquere, quae decentsanam doctrinam.
that older men should be temperate, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, love, and endurance.2 Senes, ut sobrii sint, pudici, prudentes, sani fide, dilectione, patientia.
Similarly, older women should be reverent in their behavior, not slanderers, not addicted to drink, teaching what is good,3 Anus similiter in habitu sanctae, non criminatrices, non vino multo deditae,bene docentes,
so that they may train younger women to love their husbands and children,4 ut prudentiam doceant adulescentulas, ut viros suos ament,filios diligant,
to be self-controlled, chaste, good homemakers, under the control of their husbands, so that the word of God may not be discredited.5 prudentes sint, castae, domus curam habentes, benignae,subditae suis viris, ut non blasphemetur verbum Dei.
Urge the younger men, similarly, to control themselves,6 Iuvenes similiter hortare, ut sobrii sint.
showing yourself as a model of good deeds in every respect, with integrity in your teaching, dignity,7 In omnibus teipsum praebensexemplum bonorum operum, in doctrina integritatem, gravitatem,
and sound speech that cannot be criticized, so that the opponent will be put to shame without anything bad to say about us.8 in verbo sanoirreprehensibilem, ut is, qui ex adverso est, vereatur, nihil habens malumdicere de nobis.
Slaves are to be under the control of their masters in all respects, giving them satisfaction, not talking back to them9 Servos dominis suis subditos esse in omnibus, placentes esse, noncontradicentes,
or stealing from them, but exhibiting complete good faith, so as to adorn the doctrine of God our savior in every way.10 non fraudantes, sed omnem fidem bonam ostendentes, utdoctrinam salutaris nostri Dei ornent in omnibus.
For the grace of God has appeared, saving all11 Apparuit enim gratia Dei salutaris omnibus hominibus
and training us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly, and devoutly in this age,12 erudiens nos, utabnegantes impietatem et saecularia desideria sobrie et iuste et pie vivamus inhoc saeculo,
as we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of the great God and of our savior Jesus Christ,13 exspectantes beatam spem et adventum gloriae magni Dei etsalvatoris nostri Iesu Christi;
who gave himself for us to deliver us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people as his own, eager to do what is good.14 qui dedit semetipsum pro nobis, ut nosredimeret ab omni iniquitate et mundaret sibi populum peculiarem, sectatorembonorum operum.
Say these things. Exhort and correct with all authority. Let no one look down on you.15 Haec loquere et exhortare et argue cum omni imperio. Nemo te contemnat!
