NEW AMERICAN BIBLENOVA VULGATA
After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.1 Sero autem post sabbatum, cum illucesceret in primam sabbati, venitMaria Magdalene et altera Maria videre sepulcrum.
And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, approached, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it.2 Et ecce terrae motus factusest magnus: angelus enim Domini descendit de caelo et accedens revolvit lapidemet sedebat super eum.
His appearance was like lightning and his clothing was white as snow.3 Erat autem aspectus eius sicut fulgur, et vestimentumeius candidum sicut nix.
The guards were shaken with fear of him and became like dead men.4 Prae timore autem eius exterriti sunt custodes etfacti sunt velut mortui.
Then the angel said to the women in reply, "Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified.5 Respondens autem angelus dixit mulieribus: “ Nolitetimere vos! Scio enim quod Iesum, qui crucifixus est, quaeritis.
He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.6 Non est hic:surrexit enim, sicut dixit. Venite, videte locum, ubi positus erat.
Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.' Behold, I have told you."7 Et citoeuntes dicite discipulis eius: “Surrexit a mortuis et ecce praecedit vos inGalilaeam; ibi eum videbitis”. Ecce dixi vobis ”.
Then they went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce this to his disciples.8 Et exeuntes cito demonumento cum timore et magno gaudio cucurrerunt nuntiare discipulis eius.
And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage.9 Et ecce Iesus occurrit illis dicens: “ Avete ”. Illae autem accesserunt ettenuerunt pedes eius et adoraverunt eum.
Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me."10 Tunc ait illis Iesus: “ Nolitetimere; ite, nuntiate fratribus meis, ut eant in Galilaeam et ibi me videbunt”.
While they were going, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had happened.11 Quae cum abiissent, ecce quidam de custodia venerunt in civitatem etnuntiaverunt principibus sacerdotum omnia, quae facta fuerant.
They assembled with the elders and took counsel; then they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,12 Et congregaticum senioribus, consilio accepto, pecuniam copiosam dederunt militibus
telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came by night and stole him while we were asleep.'13 dicentes: “ Dicite: “Discipuli eius nocte venerunt et furati sunt eum, nobisdormientibus”.
And if this gets to the ears of the governor, we will satisfy (him) and keep you out of trouble."14 Et si hoc auditum fuerit a praeside, nos suadebimus ei etsecuros vos faciemus ”.
The soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has circulated among the Jews to the present (day).15 At illi, accepta pecunia, fecerunt, sicut erantdocti. Et divulgatum est verbum istud apud Iudaeos usque in hodiernum diem.
The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them.16 Undecim autem discipuli abierunt in Galilaeam, in montem ubi constitueratillis Iesus,
When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.17 et videntes eum adoraverunt; quidam autem dubitaverunt.
Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.18 Etaccedens Iesus locutus est eis dicens: “ Data est mihi omnis potestas in caeloet in terra.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit,19 Euntes ergo docete omnes gentes, baptizantes eos in nominePatris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."20 docentes eos servare omnia, quaecumquemandavi vobis. Et ecce ego vobiscum sum omnibus diebus usque ad consummationemsaeculi ”.
