NEW AMERICAN BIBLEKING JAMES BIBLE
After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, approached, rolled back the stone, and sat upon it.2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
His appearance was like lightning and his clothing was white as snow.3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
The guards were shaken with fear of him and became like dead men.4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
Then the angel said to the women in reply, "Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified.5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.' Behold, I have told you."7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
Then they went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce this to his disciples.8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage.9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me."10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
While they were going, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had happened.11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.
They assembled with the elders and took counsel; then they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,
telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came by night and stole him while we were asleep.'13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
And if this gets to the ears of the governor, we will satisfy (him) and keep you out of trouble."14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
The soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has circulated among the Jews to the present (day).15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them.16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit,19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
