NEW AMERICAN BIBLELXX
A wise magistrate lends stability to his people, and the government of a prudent man is well ordered.1 κριτης σοφος παιδευσει τον λαον αυτου και ηγεμονια συνετου τεταγμενη εσται
As the people's judge, so are his ministers; as the head of a city, its inhabitants.2 κατα τον κριτην του λαου ουτως και οι λειτουργοι αυτου και κατα τον ηγουμενον της πολεως παντες οι κατοικουντες αυτην
A wanton king destroys his people, but a city grows through the wisdom of its princes.3 βασιλευς απαιδευτος απολει τον λαον αυτου και πολις οικισθησεται εν συνεσει δυναστων
Sovereignty over the earth is in the hand of God, who raises up on it the man of the hour;4 εν χειρι κυριου η εξουσια της γης και τον χρησιμον εγερει εις καιρον επ' αυτης
Sovereignty over every man is in the hand of God, who imparts his majesty to the ruler.5 εν χειρι κυριου ευοδια ανδρος και προσωπω γραμματεως επιθησει δοξαν αυτου
No matter the wrong, do no violence to your neighbor, and do not walk the path of arrogance.6 επι παντι αδικηματι μη μηνιασης τω πλησιον και μη πρασσε μηδεν εν εργοις υβρεως
Odious to the LORD and to men is arrogance, and the sin of oppression they both hate.7 μισητη εναντι κυριου και ανθρωπων υπερηφανια και εξ αμφοτερων πλημμελης η αδικια
Dominion is transferred from one people to another because of the violence of the arrogant.8 βασιλεια απο εθνους εις εθνος μεταγεται δια αδικιας και υβρεις και χρηματα
Why are dust and ashes proud? even during life man's body decays;9 τι υπερηφανευεται γη και σποδος οτι εν ζωη ερριψα τα ενδοσθια αυτου
A slight illness--the doctor jests, a king today--tomorrow he is dead.10 μακρον αρρωστημα σκωπτει ιατρος και βασιλευς σημερον και αυριον τελευτησει
When a man dies, he inherits corruption; worms and gnats and maggots.11 εν γαρ τω αποθανειν ανθρωπον κληρονομησει ερπετα και θηρια και σκωληκας
The beginning of pride is man's stubbornness in withdrawing his heart from his Maker;12 αρχη υπερηφανιας ανθρωπου αφιστασθαι απο κυριου και απο του ποιησαντος αυτον απεστη η καρδια αυτου
For pride is the reservoir of sin, a source which runs over with vice; Because of it God sends unheard-of afflictions and brings men to utter ruin.13 οτι αρχη υπερηφανιας αμαρτια και ο κρατων αυτης εξομβρησει βδελυγμα δια τουτο παρεδοξασεν κυριος τας επαγωγας και κατεστρεψεν εις τελος αυτους
The thrones of the arrogant God overturns and establishes the lowly in their stead.14 θρονους αρχοντων καθειλεν ο κυριος και εκαθισεν πραεις αντ' αυτων
The roots of the proud God plucks up, to plant the humble in their place:15 ριζας εθνων εξετιλεν ο κυριος και εφυτευσεν ταπεινους αντ' αυτων
He breaks down their stem to the level of the ground, then digs their roots from the earth.16 χωρας εθνων κατεστρεψεν ο κυριος και απωλεσεν αυτας εως θεμελιων γης
The traces of the proud God sweeps away and effaces the memory of them from the earth.17 εξηρεν εξ αυτων και απωλεσεν αυτους και κατεπαυσεν απο γης το μνημοσυνον αυτων
Insolence is not allotted to a man, nor stubborn anger to one born of woman.18 ουκ εκτισται ανθρωποις υπερηφανια ουδε οργη θυμου γεννημασιν γυναικων
Whose offspring can be in honor? Those of men. Which offspring are in honor? Those who fear God. Whose offspring can be in disgrace? Those of men. Which offspring are in disgrace? Those who transgress the commandments.19 σπερμα εντιμον ποιον σπερμα ανθρωπου σπερμα εντιμον ποιον οι φοβουμενοι τον κυριον σπερμα ατιμον ποιον σπερμα ανθρωπου σπερμα ατιμον ποιον οι παραβαινοντες εντολας
Among brethren their leader is in honor; he who fears God is in honor among his people.20 εν μεσω αδελφων ο ηγουμενος αυτων εντιμος και οι φοβουμενοι κυριον εν οφθαλμοις αυτου
Be it tenant or wayfarer, alien or pauper, his glory is the fear of the LORD.21 -
It is not just to despise a man who is wise but poor, nor proper to honor any sinner.22 πλουσιος και ενδοξος και πτωχος το καυχημα αυτων φοβος κυριου
The prince, the ruler, the judge are in honor; but none is greater than he who fears God.23 ου δικαιον ατιμασαι πτωχον συνετον και ου καθηκει δοξασαι ανδρα αμαρτωλον
When free men serve a prudent slave, the wise man does not complain.24 μεγισταν και κριτης και δυναστης δοξασθησεται και ουκ εστιν αυτων τις μειζων του φοβουμενου τον κυριον
Flaunt not your wisdom in managing your affairs, and boast not in your time of need.25 οικετη σοφω ελευθεροι λειτουργησουσιν και ανηρ επιστημων ου γογγυσει
Better the worker who has plenty of everything than the boaster who is without bread.26 μη σοφιζου ποιησαι το εργον σου και μη δοξαζου εν καιρω στενοχωριας σου
My son, with humility have self-esteem; prize yourself as you deserve.27 κρεισσων εργαζομενος και περισσευων εν πασιν η περιπατων δοξαζομενος και απορων αρτων
Who will acquit him who condemns himself? who will honor him who discredits himself?28 τεκνον εν πραυτητι δοξασον την ψυχην σου και δος αυτη τιμην κατα την αξιαν αυτης
The poor man is honored for his wisdom as the rich man is honored for his wealth;29 τον αμαρτανοντα εις την ψυχην αυτου τις δικαιωσει και τις δοξασει τον ατιμαζοντα την ζωην αυτου
Honored in poverty, how much more so in wealth! Dishonored in wealth, in poverty how much the more!30 πτωχος δοξαζεται δι' επιστημην αυτου και πλουσιος δοξαζεται δια τον πλουτον αυτου
ο δεδοξασμενος εν πτωχεια και εν πλουτω ποσαχως και ο αδοξος εν πλουτω και εν πτωχεια ποσαχως
