Proverbs 6

1 My son, if you have become surety to your neighbor, given your hand in pledge to another,	1 FIGLIUOL mio, se tu hai fatta sicurtà al tuo prossimo, Se tu hai toccata la mano allo strano,
2 You have been snared by the utterance of your lips, caught by the words of your mouth;	2 Tu sei allacciato con le parole della tua bocca, Tu sei preso con le parole della tua bocca.
3 So do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbor's power: Go, hurry, stir up your neighbor!	3 Ora fa’ questo, figliuol mio, e riscuotiti; Poichè tu sei caduto in man del tuo prossimo, Va’, gittati a’ piedi de’ tuoi amici, e sollecitali.
4 Give no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids;	4 Non lasciar dormire gli occhi tuoi, Nè sonnecchiar le tue palpebre.
5 Free yourself as a gazelle from the snare, or as a bird from the hand of the fowler.	5 Riscuotiti, come un cavriuolo di mano del cacciatore, E come un uccello di mano dell’uccellatore
6 Go to the ant, O sluggard, study her ways and learn wisdom;	6 Va’, pigro, alla formica; Riguarda le sue vie, e diventa savio;
7 For though she has no chief, no commander or ruler,	7 Conciossiachè ella non abbia nè capitano, Nè magistrato, nè signore;
8 She procures her food in the summer, stores up her provisions in the harvest.	8 E pure ella apparecchia nella state il suo cibo, E raduna nella ricolta il suo mangiare.
9 How long, O sluggard, will you rest? when will you rise from your sleep?	9 Infino a quando, o pigro, giacerai? Quando ti desterai dal tuo sonno?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the arms to rest--	10 Dormendo un poco, sonnecchiando un poco, Piegando un poco le braccia per riposare;
11 Then will poverty come upon you like a highway man, and want like an armed man.	11 La tua povertà verrà come un viandante, E la tua necessità come uno scudiere
12 A scoundrel, a villain, is he who deals in crooked talk.	12 L’uomo scellerato, l’uomo da nulla, Procede con perversità di bocca.
13 He winks his eyes, shuffles his feet, makes signs with his fingers;	13 Egli ammicca con gli occhi, parla co’ piedi, Accenna con le dita;
14 He has perversity in his heart, is always plotting evil, sows discord.	14 Egli ha delle perversità nel suo cuore, Egli macchina del male in ogni tempo; Egli commette contese.
15 Therefore suddenly ruin comes upon him; in an instant he is crushed beyond cure.	15 Perciò in un momento verrà la sua ruina; Egli di subito sarà fiaccato, senza rimedio.
16 There are six things the LORD hates, yes, seven are an abomination to him;	16 Il Signore odia queste sei cose; Anzi queste sette son cosa abbominevole all’anima sua;
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;	17 Gli occhi altieri, la lingua bugiarda, E la mani che spandono il sangue innocente,
18 A heart that plots wicked schemes, feet that run swiftly to evil,	18 Il cuore che divisa pensieri d’iniquità, I piedi che si affrettano per correre al male,
19 The false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.	19 Il falso testimonio che sbocca menzogne, E colui che commette contese tra fratelli
20 Observe, my son, your father's bidding, and reject not your mother's teaching;	20 FIGLIUOL mio, guarda il comandamento di tuo padre, E non lasciar l’insegnamento di tua madre;
21 Keep them fastened over your heart always, put them around your neck;	21 Tienli del continuo legati in sul tuo cuore, Ed avvinti in su la tua gola.
	22 Quando tu camminerai, quello ti guiderà; Quando tu giacerai, farà la guardia intorno a te; E quando tu ti risveglierai, ragionerà teco;
23 For the bidding is a lamp, and the teaching a light, and a way to life are the reproofs of discipline;	23 Perciocchè il comandamento è una lampana, E l’insegnamento è una luce, E le correzioni di disciplina son la via della vita;
24 To keep you from your neighbor's wife, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress.	24 Per guardarti dalla femmina malvagia, Dalle lusinghe della lingua della straniera.
25 Lust not in your heart after her beauty, let her not captivate you with her glance!	25 Non invaghirti nel tuo cuore della sua bellezza; E non prendati ella con le sue palpebre.
26 For the price of a loose woman may be scarcely a loaf of bread, But if she is married, she is a trap for your precious life.	26 Perciocchè per una donna meretrice si viene fino ad un pezzo di pane; E la donna vaga d’uomini va a caccia dietro alle anime preziose.
27 Can a man take fire to his bosom, and his garments not burned?	27 Alcuno prenderà egli del fuoco in seno, Senza che i suoi vestimenti ne sieno arsi?
28 Or can a man walk on live coals, and his feet not be scorched?	28 Alcuno camminerà egli sopra le brace, Senza bruciarsi i piedi?
29 So with him who goes in to his neighbor's wife-- none who touches her shall go unpunished.	29 Così avviene a chi entra dalla moglie del suo prossimo; Chiunque la tocca non sarà innocente.
30 Men despise not the thief if he steals to satisfy his appetite when he is hungry;	30 Ei non si scusa il ladro, quando egli ruba Per saziarsi, avendo fame;
31 Yet if he be caught he must pay back sevenfold; all the wealth of his house he may yield up.	31 Anzi, se è colto, restituisce il furto a sette doppi, Egli dà tutta la sostanza di casa sua.
32 But he who commits adultery is a fool; he who would destroy himself does it.	32 Chi commette adulterio con una donna è scemo di senno; Chi vuol perder l’anima sua faccia tal cosa.
33 A degrading beating will he get, and his disgrace will not be wiped away;	33 Egli troverà ferite ed ignominia; E il suo vituperio non sarà giammai cancellato.
34 For vindictive is the husband's wrath, he will have no pity on the day of vengeance;	34 Perciocchè la gelosia è un furor dell’uomo; Ed egli non risparmierà nel giorno della vendetta.
35 He will not consider any restitution, nor be satisfied with the greatest gifts.	35 Egli non avrà riguardo ad alcun riscatto; Ed avvegnachè tu moltiplichi i presenti, non però li accetterà
