NEW AMERICAN BIBLEDOUAI-RHEIMS
A song; a psalm of David1 A canticle of a psalm for David himself.
My heart is steadfast, God; my heart is steadfast. I will sing and chant praise.2 My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready: I will sing, and will give praise, with my glory.
Awake, my soul; awake, lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn.3 Arise, my glory; arise, psaltery and harp: I will arise in the morning early.
I will praise you among the peoples, LORD; I will chant your praise among the nations.4 I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing unto thee among the populations.
For your love towers to the heavens; your faithfulness, to the skies.5 For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth even unto the clouds.
Appear on high over the heavens, God; may your glory appear above all the earth.6 Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens, and thy glory over all the earth:
Help with your right hand and answer us that your loved ones may escape.7 that thy beloved may be delivered. Save with thy right hand and hear me.
God promised in the sanctuary: "I will exult, I will apportion Shechem; the valley of Succoth I will measure out.8 God hath spoken in his holiness. I will rejoice, and I will divide Sichem and I will mete out the vale of tabernacles.
Gilead is mine, mine is Manasseh; Ephraim is the helmet for my head, Judah, my own scepter.9 Galaad is mine, and Manasses is mine and Ephraim the protection of my head. Juda is my king:
Moab is my washbowl; upon Edom I cast my sandal; I will triumph over Philistia."10 Moab the pot of my hope. Over Edom I will stretch out my shoe: the aliens are become my friends.
Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me into Edom?11 Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
Was it not you who rejected us, God? Do you no longer march with our armies?12 Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our armies?
Give us aid against the foe; worthless is human help.13 O grant us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
We will triumph with the help of God, who will trample down our foes.14 Through God we shall do mightily: and he will bring our enemies to nothing.
