1 Bildad the Shuhite spoke out and said:	1 Bildad de Súaj tomó la palabra y dijo:
2 How long will you utter such things? The words from your mouth are like a mighty wind!	2 ¿Hasta cuándo estarás hablando de ese modo, y un gran viento serán las razones de tu boca?
3 Does God pervert judgment, and does the Almighty distort justice?	3 ¿Acaso Dios tuerce el derecho, Sadday pervierte la justicia?
4 If your children have sinned against him and he has left them in the grip of their guilt,	4 Si tus hijos pecaron contra él, ya los dejó a merced de sus delitos.
5 Still, if you yourself have recourse to God and make supplication to the Almighty,	5 Mas si tú a Dios recurres e imploras a Sadday,
6 Should you be blameless and upright, surely now he will awake for you and restore your rightful domain;	6 si eres irreprochable y recto, desde ahora él velará sobre ti y restaurará tu morada de justicia.
7 Your former state will be of little moment, for in time to come you will flourish indeed.	7 Tu pasado parecerá insignificante el lado de tu espléndido futuro.
8 If you inquire of the former generations, and give heed to the experience of the fathers	8 Pregunta, si no, a la generación pasada, medita en la experiencia de sus padres.
9 (As we are but of yesterday and have no knowledge, because our days on earth are but a shadow),	9 Nosotros de ayer somos y no sabemos nada, como una sombra nuestros días en la tierra.
10 Will they not teach you and tell you and utter their words of understanding?	10 Pero ellos te instruirán y te hablarán, y de su corazón sacarán estas máximas:
11 Can the papyrus grow up without mire? Can the reed grass flourish without water?	11 «¿Brota acaso el papiro sin marismas? ¿Crece sin agua el junco?
12 While it is yet green and uncut, it withers quicker than any grass.	12 Aún en su verdor, sin ser cortado, antes que toda otra hierba se marchita.
13 So is the end of everyone who forgets God, and so shall the hope of the godless man perish.	13 Tal es el fin de los que a Dios olvidan, así fenece la esperanza del impío.
14 His confidence is but a gossamer thread and his trust is a spider's web.	14 Su confianza es un hilo solamente, su seguridad una tela de araña.
15 He shall rely upon his family, but it shall not last; he shall cling to it, but it shall not endure.	15 Se apoya en su morada, y no le aguanta, se agarra a ella y no resiste.
16 He is full of sap before sunrise, and beyond his garden his shoots go forth;	16 Bien regado ante la faz del sol, por encima de su huerto salían sus renuevos.
17 About a heap of stones are his roots entwined; among the rocks he takes hold.	17 Sobre un majano entrelazadas sus raíces, vivía en una casa de piedra.
18 Yet if one tears him from his place, it will disown him: "I have never seen you!"	18 Mas cuando se le arranca de su sitio, éste le niega: “¡No te he visto jamás!”
19 There he lies rotting beside the road, and out of the soil another sprouts.	19 Y vedle ya cómo se pudre en el camino, mientras que del suelo brotan otros.»
20 Behold, God will not cast away the upright; neither will he take the hand of the wicked.	20 No, Dios no rechaza al íntegro, ni da la mano a los malvados.
21 Once more will he fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with rejoicing.	21 La risa ha de llenar aún tu boca y tus labios el clamor de júbilo.
22 They that hate you shall be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked shall be no more.	22 Tus enemigos serán cubiertos de vergüenza, y desaparecerá la tienda de los malos.
