1 At this my heart trembles and leaps out of its place,	1 Il cuor mi trema eziandio di questo, E si muove dal luogo suo.
2 To hear his angry voice as it rumbles forth from his mouth!	2 Udite pure il suo tremendo tuono, E il mormorare ch’esce dalla sua bocca.
3 Everywhere under the heavens he sends it, with his lightning, to the ends of the earth.	3 Egli lo lancia sotto tutti i cieli, E la sua fiamma sopra le estremità della terra;
4 Again his voice roars-- the majestic sound of his thunder.	4 Dopo la quale rugge il tuono; egli tuona con la voce della sua altezza, E non indugia quelle cose, dopo che la sua voce è stata udita.
5 He does great things beyond our knowing; wonders past our searching out.	5 Iddio tuona maravigliosamente con la sua voce; Egli fa cose tanto grandi, che noi non possiam comprenderle
6 For he says to the snow, "Fall to the earth"; likewise to his heavy, drenching rain.	6 Perciocchè egli dice alla neve: Cadi in su la terra; E parimente al nembo della pioggia, al nembo delle sue forti piogge.
7 He shuts up all mankind indoors;	7 Egli rinchiude ogni uomo in casa, Come per riconoscer tutti i suoi lavoratori.
8 the wild beasts take to cover and remain quietly in their dens.	8 E le fiere se n’entrano ne’ lor nascondimenti, E dimorano ne’ lor ricetti.
9 Out of its chamber comes forth the tempest; from the north winds, the cold.	9 La tempesta viene dall’Austro, E il freddo dal Settentrione.
10 With his breath God brings the frost, and the broad waters become congealed.	10 Iddio, col suo soffio, produce il ghiaccio, E fa che le acque che si diffondevano diventano come di metallo.
11 With hail, also, the clouds are laden, as they scatter their flashes of light.	11 Egli stanca eziandio le nuvole in adacquar la terra, E disperge le nubi con la sua luce.
12 He it is who changes their rounds, according to his plans, in their task upon the surface of the earth,	12 Ed esse si rivolgono in molti giri, secondo gli ordini suoi Intorno a ciò che hanno a fare, Secondo tutto quello ch’egli comanda loro di fare In su la faccia del mondo, nella terra;
13 whether for punishment or mercy, as he commands.	13 Facendole venire, o per castigo, O per la sua terra, o per alcun beneficio
14 Hearken to this, O Job! Stand and consider the wondrous works of God!	14 Porgi l’orecchio a questo, o Giobbe; Fermati, e considera le maraviglie di Dio.
15 Do you know how God lays his commands upon them, and makes the light shine forth from his clouds?	15 Sai tu, come Iddio dispone di esse, E come egli fa risplender la luce della sua nuvola?
16 Do you know how the clouds are banked, the wondrous work of him who is perfect in knowledge?	16 Intendi tu come le nuvole son bilanciate? Conosci tu le maraviglie di colui che è perfetto in ogni scienza?
17 You, whom the streams of water fail when a calm from the south comes over the land,	17 Come i tuoi vestimenti son caldi, Quando egli acqueta l’Austro in su la terra?
18 Do you spread out with him the firmament of the skies, hard as a brazen mirror?	18 Hai tu con lui distesi i cieli, I quali son sodi, come uno specchio di metallo?
19 Teach us then what we shall say to him; we cannot, for the darkness, make our plea.	19 Insegnaci ciò che noi gli diremo; Poichè, per cagione delle nostre tenebre, noi non possiam bene ordinare i nostri ragionamenti.
20 Will he be told about it when I speak, or when a man says he is being destroyed?	20 Gli sarebbe egli rapportato quando io avessi parlato? Se vi fosse alcuno che ne parlasse, certo egli sarebbe abissato
21 Nay, rather, it is as the light which men see not while it is obscured among the clouds, till the wind comes by and sweeps the clouds away.	21 Ecco pure gli uomini non possono riguardare il sole, Quando egli risplende nel cielo, Dopo che il vento è passato, e l’ha spazzato;
22 From the North the splendor comes, surrounding God's awesome majesty!	22 E che dal Settentrione è venuta la dorata serenità; Or Iddio ha intorno a sè una tremenda maestà.
23 The Almighty! we cannot discover him, pre-eminent in power and judgment; his great justice owes no one an accounting.	23 Egli è l’Onnipotente, noi non possiam trovarlo; Egli è grande in forza, Ed in giudicio, ed in grandezza di giustizia; Egli non oppressa alcuno;
24 Therefore men revere him, though none can see him, however wise their hearts.	24 Perciò gli uomini lo temono; Alcun uomo, benchè savio di cuore, no ‘l può vedere
