1 Timothy 2

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;	1 Ante todo recomiendo que se hagan plegarias, oraciones, súplicas y acciones de gracias por todos los hombres;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.	2 por los reyes y por todos los constituidos en autoridad, para que podamos vivir una vida tranquila y apacible con toda piedad y dignidad.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;	3 Esto es bueno y agradable a Dios, nuestro Salvador,
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.	4 que quiere que todos los hombres se salven y lleguen al conocimiento pleno de la verdad.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;	5 Porque hay un solo Dios, y también un solo mediador entre Dios y los hombres, Cristo Jesús, hombre también,
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.	6 que se entregó a sí mismo como rescate por todos. Este es el testimonio dado en el tiempo oportuno,
7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.	7 y de este testimonio - digo la verdad, no miento - yo he sido constituido heraldo y apóstol, maestro de los gentiles en la fe y en la verdad.
8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.	8 Quiero, pues, que los hombres oren en todo lugar elevando hacia el cielo unas manos piadosas, sin ira ni discusiones.
9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;	9 Así mismo que las mujeres, vestidas decorosamente, se adornen con pudor y modestia, no con trenzas ni con oro o perlas o vestidos costosos,
10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.	10 sino con buenas obras, como conviene a mujeres que hacen profesión de piedad.
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.	11 La mujer oiga la instrucción en silencio, con toda sumisión.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.	12 No permito que la mujer enseñe ni que domine al hombre. Que se mantenga en silencio.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.	13 Porque Adán fue formado primero y Eva en segundo lugar.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.	14 Y el engañado no fue Adán, sino la mujer que, seducida, incurrió en la transgresión.
15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.	15 Con todo, se salvará por su maternidad mientras persevere con modestia en la fe, en la caridad y en la santidad.
