Jeremiah 44

1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,	1 Questa è la parola che fu rivolta a Geremia riguardo a tutti i Giudei che abitavano nel paese d'Egitto: in Migdol, in Tafni, in Menfi e nel territorio di Patros:
2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,	2 "Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d'Israele: Voi avete visto tutta la sventura che io ho fatto arrivare contro Gerusalemme e contro tutte le città di Giuda. Ecco, esse sono oggi una rovina, senza abitanti,
3 Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.	3 a causa della malvagità che han commesso facendomi irritare, andando a offrire incenso, servendo altri dèi che non avevano conosciuto né essi né voi né i vostri padri.
4 Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.	4 Eppure io vi avevo inviato tutti i miei servi, i profeti, con sollecitudine e costanza dicendo: "Non vogliate commettere questa cosa abominevole che io odio".
5 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.	5 Ma essi non hanno dato ascolto né hanno prestato orecchio, così da ritrarsi dalla loro malvagità non offrendo incenso ad altri dèi.
6 Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.	6 Allora sono traboccati il mio furore e la mia ira e sono divampati contro le città di Giuda e per le strade di Gerusalemme, cosicché sono divenute rovina e devastazione, come sono ancor oggi".
7 Therefore now this saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;	7 Ma ora così dice il Signore, Dio degli eserciti, Dio d'Israele: "Perché voi volete operare un male grande contro voi stessi facendovi distruggere, uomini, donne e lattanti, di mezzo a Giuda, cosicché non vi sia lasciato un resto?
8 In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?	8 Perché mi irritate con le azioni delle vostre mani offrendo incenso ad altri dèi nel paese d'Egitto, dove voi venite a dimorare, per sterminare voi stessi e per divenire voi maledizione e vergogna tra tutte le nazioni della terra?
9 Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?	9 Avete dimenticato le malvagità dei padri vostri, le malvagità dei re di Giuda e le malvagità delle loro donne, le vostre malvagità e le malvagità delle vostre donne che furono commesse nel paese di Giuda e per le strade di Gerusalemme?
10 They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.	10 Fino a questo giorno non si sono pentiti né hanno avuto timore né hanno camminato nella mia legge e nei miei precetti che io ho posto dinanzi a loro e dinanzi ai loro padri".
11 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.	11 Perciò, così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d'Israele: "Ecco, io mi sono rivolto contro di voi per la sventura e per distruggere tutto Giuda.
12 And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.	12 Io prenderò il resto di Giuda, quelli che hanno stabilito di entrare nel paese d'Egitto per dimorarvi, e saranno consumati tutti nel paese d'Egitto: cadranno di spada, saranno consumati di fame, dal piccolo al grande; di spada e di fame morranno e diverranno devastazione, maledizione e vergogna.
13 For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:	13 Io punirò tutti gli abitanti nel paese d'Egitto, come ho punito Gerusalemme, con la spada, con la fame e con la peste,
14 So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape.	14 e non vi sarà scampato né superstite per il resto di Giuda, venuto a dimorare qui nel paese d'Egitto, che possa ritornare nel territorio di Giuda, dove essi desiderano ardentemente ritornare per abitarvi. Sì! Non ritorneranno se non alcuni scampati".
15 Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,	15 Allora tutti gli uomini, i quali sapevano che le loro donne offrivano incenso ad altri dèi, e tutte le donne presenti alla grande assemblea e tutto il popolo che risiedeva nel paese d'Egitto, in Patros, risposero a Geremia:
16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.	16 "In quanto alla parola che ci hai detto nel nome del Signore, non ti ascoltiamo.
17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.	17 Sì, noi vogliamo fare tutto ciò che è uscito dalla nostra bocca, offrendo incenso alla regina del cielo e versandole libazioni come abbiamo fatto noi e i nostri padri, i nostri re e i nostri prìncipi nelle città di Giuda e per le strade di Gerusalemme: così ci sazieremo di pane, saremo felici e non vedremo alcuna sventura.
18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.	18 Da quando infatti abbiamo cessato di offrire incenso alla regina del cielo e versarle libazioni, siamo rimasti privi di tutto e siamo stati finiti con la spada e con la fame".
19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?	19 Le donne dissero: "Noi offriamo incenso alla regina del cielo, versandole libazioni. Forse all'insaputa dei nostri uomini noi le facciamo focacce con la sua immagine, versandole anche libazioni?".
20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,	20 Allora Geremia ribatté a tutto il popolo, agli uomini e alle donne e a tutta la gente che gli aveva risposto in tal modo, così:
21 The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?	21 "Non è forse l'incenso che voi avete offerto nelle città di Giuda e per le vie di Gerusalemme, voi e i vostri padri, i vostri re e i vostri prìncipi e il popolo del paese, ciò che ricorda il Signore e gli ritorna in cuore?
22 So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.	22 Il Signore non ha più potuto sopportare, a causa delle malvagità delle vostre azioni, a causa delle abominazioni che avete compiuto. Perciò il vostro paese divenne una rovina, una devastazione, un'esecrazione, senza abitante, com'è oggi.
23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.	23 Perché voi avete offerto incenso e perché avete peccato contro il Signore e non avete ascoltato la voce del Signore e non avete camminato secondo la sua legge né secondo i suoi precetti e le sue testimonianze, per questo vi ha sorpreso questa sventura, com'è oggi".
24 Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:	24 Geremia disse ancora a tutto il popolo, particolarmente alle donne: "Ascolta la parola del Signore, o popolo tutto di Giuda che sei in paese d'Egitto.
25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.	25 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio di Israele: Voi e le vostre donne l'avete proferito con la vostra bocca e con le vostre mani l'avete compiuto, dicendo: "Continuiamo a mantenere i voti che abbiamo promesso offrendo incenso alla regina del cielo e versandole libazioni". Se lo volete, mantenete pure i vostri voti e se lo volete, compite pure le vostre libazioni.
26 Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.	26 Tuttavia ascoltate la parola del Signore, o voi tutti di Giuda che risiedete nel paese d'Egitto. Ecco: ho giurato nel mio nome grande, ha detto il Signore: in tutto il paese di Egitto non sarà più invocato il mio nome per bocca di alcun uomo di Giuda che dica: "Per la vita del Signore Dio!".
27 Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.	27 Ecco: io sto vigilando contro di loro per la sventura e non per la felicità, e tutti gli uomini di Giuda che sono nel territorio d'Egitto saranno sterminati con la spada e la fame, fino alla loro distruzione.
28 Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.	28 Tuttavia alcuni scampati di spada torneranno dal paese di Egitto nel paese di Giuda: molto pochi; così saprà tutto il resto di Giuda venuto nel paese di Egitto per dimorarvi qual è la parola che si realizzerà, se quella da parte mia o quella da parte loro.
29 And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:	29 Questo sarà per voi il segno, oracolo del Signore, che io sto per punirvi in questo luogo, affinché sappiate che infallibilmente si realizzeranno le mie parole contro di voi per la sventura".
30 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaoh-hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.	30 Così dice il Signore: "Ecco, io sto per consegnare il faraone Cofra, re di Egitto, in mano dei suoi nemici e in mano di chi cerca la sua vita, come consegnai Sedecia, re di Giuda, in mano di Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, suo nemico, che cercava la sua vita".
