Jeremiah 44

1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,	1 - La parola che, per mezzo di Geremia, fu comunicata a tutti i Giudei che abitavano nella terra di Egitto, residenti in Magdalo e in Tafnis e in Memfi e nella regione di Patures per dire loro:
2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,	2 «Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: - Voi avete visto tutto il male che ho fatto piombare sopra Gerusalemme e sopra tutte le città di Giuda, ed ecco che oggi sono deserte e in esse non abita più nessuno,
3 Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.	3 a causa della malvagità con cui hanno operato verso di me per provocar il mio sdegno e andarsene a sacrificare e ad adorare gli dèi stranieri che nè essi avevano conosciuto, nè voi, nè i padri vostri.
4 Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.	4 Ho ben mandato a voi tutti quei miei servi, i profeti, per tempo facendomi premura e mandando, e dicendo: "Non vogliate fare una cosa abominevole come questa che io ho in odio".
5 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.	5 Ma non udirono e non prestarono i loro orecchi per convertirsi dai loro malfatti e non sacrificare agli dèi stranieri.
6 Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.	6 E allora si rinfocò la mia indignazione e il mio furore, e divampò nella città di Giuda e per le piazze di Gerusalemme, e furono ridotte in quella solitudine e squallore in cui oggi sono.-
7 Therefore now this saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;	7 E ora il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele dice così: - Perchè mai fate questo gran male a vostro danno, affinchè periscano gli uomini, le donne, i piccoli e i bambini ancora di mezzo a Giuda, e non sopravvanzi a voi un menomo residuo:
8 In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?	8 provocandomi [ad ira] con le opere delle vostre mani, sacrificando a dèi stranieri sul suolo d'Egitto dove siete entrati per abitarvi, e così andar in rovina ed essere in esecrazione e obbrobrio a tutte le genti della terra?
9 Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?	9 Avete voi già dimenticato le malvagità dei vostri padri, quelle dei re di Giuda, quelle delle loro donne e quelle vostre e delle vostre donne che hanno operato nella terra di Giuda e nei rioni di Gerusalemme?
10 They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.	10 Non si sono mondati fino al giorno d'oggi, e non hanno avuto timore, e non hanno camminato nella legge del Signore, nei precetti miei che ho posti davanti a voi e ai padri vostri.-
11 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.	11 Perciò, così dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: - Ecco che io fermerò il mio viso su di voi in male, e disperderò Giuda tutto intero.
12 And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.	12 E verrò a raggiungere i resti di Giuda che si ostinarono nel pensiero di entrare nella terra di Egitto per ivi abitare e saranno tutti sterminati nella terra di Egitto; saranno stramazzati dalla spada e dalla fame, dal più piccolo al più grande saranno sterminati, dalla spada e dalla fame fatti morire; e saranno in esecrazione e in orrore, in maledizione e in vituperio.
13 For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:	13 E verrò a visitare quei che dimorano in Egitto, come ho visitato quei di Gerusalemme colla spada, la fame e la peste.
14 So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape.	14 E non vi sarà alcuno che scampi e che sia risparmiato tra i superstiti dei Giudei che espatriano nella terra di Egitto credendo di rimpatriare nella terra di Giuda alla quale drizzano il loro sospiro per ritornare e riabitarla: non ritorneranno se non quelli che prenderanno la fuga -».
15 Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,	15 Allora tutti gli uomini che sapevano che le loro donne sacrificavano agli dèi stranieri, e tutte le donne delle quali era presente gran moltitudine, e tutta l'altra popolazione di quelli che avevano presa dimora in Egitto, in Patures, risposero a Geremia dicendo:
16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.	16 «Le parole che tu ci hai detto in nome del Signore noi non le ascolteremo da te,
17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.	17 ma staremo alla parola che è uscita dalla nostra bocca: di fare sacrifizi alla regina del cielo e di farle libazioni, come già noi abbiamo fatto e i nostri padri, e i nostri re, e i nostri principi, nelle città di Giuda e sulle piazze di Gerusalemme: e avevamo allora pane a sazietà e stavamo bene e ombra di male non si vedeva.
18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.	18 Ma da quando abbiamo tralasciato di fare sacrifizi alla regina del cielo e presentarle libagioni, abbiamo penuria di tutto e siamo rifiniti dalla spada e dalla fame.
19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?	19 E se facciamo sacrifizi alla regina del cielo e le presentiamo libagioni, forse che senza dei nostri mariti abbiamo fatto le focacce da placarla, e le libagioni da presentarle?».
20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,	20 Allora Geremia replicò verso tutto il popolo e verso gli uomini e le donne, e tutta l'altra gente che avevano risposto a quella maniera dicendo:
21 The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?	21 «E dei sacrifizi che avete offerti nelle città di Giuda e sulle piazze di Gerusalemme voi e i vostri padri, e i vostri re e i vostri principi, e tutto il basso popolo, di questi non ha tenuto un ricordo il Signore e non gli è risalito al cuore?
22 So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.	22 Il Signore non poteva più oltre sopportare di fronte alla malvagità dei vostri sentimenti e delle abominazioni che avevate commesse: e così la vostra terra fu ridotta tutta una desolazione e un'orridezza, maledetta e spopolata, come è al giorno d'oggi.
23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.	23 E questa, perchè avevate sacrificato agli idoli, perchè avevate peccato contro il Signore, e non avevate ascoltato la voce del Signore, nè camminato secondo la legge e i precetti suoi e le sue disposizioni; onde v'incolsero queste sciagure, quali sono avvenute in quei giorni».
24 Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:	24 Poi Geremia soggiunse a tutto il popolo e a tutte quelle donne: «Udite la parola del Signore, voi tutti popolo di Giuda, che siete nel paese d'Egitto.
25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.	25 Così parla il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele e dice: - Voi e le vostre donne avete affermato colla vostra bocca, e colle vostre mani avete compiuto; avete detto: "Adempiamo i nostri voti con cui abbiamo promesso di fare sacrifizi alla regina del cielo e di presentarle libagioni"; sì, avete mantenuto i vostri voti e col fatto li avete compiuti.
26 Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.	26 Per questo, udite la parola del Signore, o voi tutti di Giuda, che dimorate nella terra d'Egitto: "Ecco, io ho giurato sul mio nome grande, dice il Signore, che questo mio nome non sarà mai più pronunziato dalla bocca di alcun uomo di Giuda per dire: Vive il Signore Dio, in tutta la terra di Egitto!
27 Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.	27 Ecco che io veglierò sopra di essi in male e non in bene, e tutti quei di Giuda che sono sul suolo di Egitto andranno consumandosi per la spada e per la fame fino a tanto che saranno del tutto sterminati.
28 Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.	28 E coloro che saranno scampati alla spada, torneranno dalla terra di Egitto alla terra di Giuda in piccolo numero; e tutto il resto di quei di Giuda, che si sono recati in Egitto per fermarsi ivi, sapranno quale parola si compirà se la mia o la loro.
29 And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:	29 E questo sia per voi il segno, dice il Signore, che io verrò a visitarvi in questo luogo, affinchè sappiate che certamente si compiranno le mie parole contro di voi in male".-
30 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaoh-hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.	30 Così dice il Signore: - Ecco che io consegnerò il Faraone Efree re di Egitto, in mano dei suoi nemici, e in mano di coloro che vanno in cerca della sua vita, come ho dato Sedecia, re di Giuda, in mano di Nabucodonosor, re di Babilonia, suo avversario e che andava in cerca della sua vita -».
