Jeremiah 44

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,	1 Parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie pour tous les Judéens installés au pays d'Egypte, en résidence àMigdol, Tahpanhès, Noph, et au pays de Patros.
2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,	2 Ainsi parle Yahvé Sabaot, le Dieu d'Israël. Vous avez vu tout le malheur que j'ai amené surJérusalem et sur toutes les villes de Juda: les voilà en ruines aujourd'hui, et sans habitants.
3 Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.	3 C'est à cause des méfaits qu'ils ont commis pour m'irriter, en allant encenser et servir des dieuxétrangers que n'avaient connus ni eux, ni vous, ni vos pères.
4 Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.	4 Je vous ai envoyé sans me lasser tous mes serviteurs les prophètes, je les ai envoyés dire: "Nefaites pas cette abomination que je déteste!"
5 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.	5 Mais ils n'ont point écouté ni prêté l'oreille pour se convertir de leur méchanceté et ne plusencenser d'autres dieux.
6 Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.	6 Alors ma fureur et ma colère se sont déversées, elles ont embrasé les villes de Juda et les rues deJérusalem, qui furent réduites en ruines et en solitudes, comme c'est le cas aujourd'hui.
7 Therefore now this saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;	7 Et maintenant, ainsi parle Yahvé, le Dieu Sabaot, le Dieu d'Israël: Pourquoi vous causer à vous-mêmes un si grand mal? Vous allez faire exterminer du milieu de Juda hommes et femmes, enfants etnourrissons, sans qu'il vous subsiste un reste,
8 In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?	8 parce que vous m'aurez irrité par l'oeuvre de vos mains, encensant d'autres dieux sur cette terred'Egypte où vous êtes venus séjourner, travaillant ainsi à votre extermination et devenant pour toutes les nationsde la terre un objet de malédiction et de raillerie.
9 Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?	9 Avez-vous oublié les méfaits de vos pères, ceux des rois de Juda et de vos princes, les vôtres etceux de vos femmes, commis au pays de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem?
10 They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.	10 Ils n'ont ressenti jusqu'à ce jour aucune contrition, aucune crainte, et n'ont point marché selon maLoi et mes prescriptions, que j'avais placées devant vous et devant vos pères.
11 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.	11 C'est pourquoi, ainsi parle Yahvé Sabaot, le Dieu d'Israël. Voici, je vais me tourner contre vouspour votre malheur, pour exterminer tout Juda.
12 And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.	12 J'enlèverai le reste de Juda qui s'est tourné vers le pays d'Egypte pour y entrer et y séjourner: ilspériront tous en terre d'Egypte, ils tomberont sous l'épée, ils périront de famine, petits et grands; par l'épée et lafamine ils mourront, et ils seront objet d'exécration, de stupéfaction, de malédiction et de raillerie.
13 For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:	13 Je visiterai ceux qui sont installés au pays d'Egypte, comme j'ai visité Jérusalem: par l'épée, lafamine et la peste.
14 So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape.	14 Dans ce reste de Juda venu séjourner au pays d'Egypte, pas un seul rescapé ni survivantn'échappera pour retourner au pays de Juda, où ils désirent ardemment revenir et demeurer. Car ils n'yreviendront pas, sauf quelques rescapés.
15 Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,	15 Alors tous les hommes qui savaient que leurs femmes encensaient des dieux étrangers et toutesles femmes présentes -- une grande assemblée -- (et tout le peuple établi au pays d'Egypte et à Patros) firent cetteréponse à Jérémie:
16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.	16 "En ce qui concerne la parole que tu nous a adressée au nom de Yahvé, nous ne voulons past'écouter;
17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.	17 mais nous continuerons à faire tout ce que nous avons promis: offrir de l'encens à la Reine duCiel et lui verser des libations, comme nous le faisions, nous et nos pères, nos rois et nos princes, dans les villesde Juda et les rues de Jérusalem: alors nous avions du pain à satiété, nous étions heureux et nous ne voyionspoint de malheur.
18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.	18 Mais depuis que nous avons cessé d'offrir de l'encens à la Reine du Ciel et de lui verser deslibations, nous avons manqué de tout et avons péri par l'épée et la famine.
19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?	19 D'ailleurs, quand nous offrons de l'encens à la Reine du Ciel et lui versons des libations, est-ce àl'insu de nos maris que nous lui faisons des gâteaux qui la représentent et lui versons des libations?"
20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,	20 Mais Jérémie déclara à tout le peuple, aux hommes et aux femmes, à tous ceux qui lui avaient faitcette réponse:
21 The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?	21 "Cet encens que vous avez offert dans les villes de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem, vous et vospères, vos rois et vos princes, ainsi que le peuple du pays, n'est-ce pas cela dont Yahvé s'est souvenu et qui luiest remonté au coeur?
22 So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.	22 Yahvé n'a pu se contenir davantage devant la méchanceté de vos actes, devant les chosesabominables que vous avez faites: ainsi votre pays est devenu une ruine, une épouvante et une malédiction, sanshabitants, comme c'est le cas aujourd'hui.
23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.	23 C'est que vous avez offert de l'encens et péché contre Yahvé, n'écoutant pas la voix de Yahvé etne marchant pas selon sa Loi, ses prescriptions et ses ordonnances; voilà pourquoi ce malheur vous a atteints,comme c'est le cas aujourd'hui."
24 Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:	24 Puis Jérémie s'adressa à tout le peuple, notamment à toutes les femmes: "Ecoutez la parole deYahvé, vous tous, Judéens qui êtes au pays d'Egypte:
25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.	25 Ainsi parle Yahvé Sabaot, le Dieu d'Israël. Vous et vos femmes, de votre bouche vous avezpromis et de vos mains vous avez réalisé! Vous avez dit: Nous accomplirons exactement les voeux que nousavons faits: offrir de l'encens à la Reine du Ciel et lui verser des libations. Eh bien! Acquittez-vous de vos voeux,accomplissez exactement vos voeux!
26 Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.	26 Toutefois, écoutez la parole de Yahvé, vous tous, les Judéens installés au pays d'Egypte: voici, jele jure par mon grand Nom, dit Yahvé. Dans tout le pays d'Egypte, mon Nom ne sera plus prononcé par labouche d'aucun homme de Juda; aucun ne dira: Par la vie du Seigneur Yahvé!
27 Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.	27 Voici, je vais veiller sur eux pour leur malheur, et non pour leur bonheur: tous les hommes deJuda qui se trouvent au pays d'Egypte périront par l'épée et la famine, jusqu'à extinction totale.
28 Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.	28 Cependant des rescapés de l'épée -- en petit nombre -- reviendront du pays d'Egypte au pays deJuda. Alors tout le reste de Juda venu au pays d'Egypte pour y séjourner reconnaîtra quelle parole se réalise: lamienne ou la leur!
29 And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:	29 "Et voici pour vous -- oracle de Yahvé -- le signe que je vous visiterai en ce lieu: alors vousreconnaîtrez que mes paroles de menace contre vous se réaliseront.
30 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaoh-hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.	30 Ainsi parle Yahvé. Voici, je vais livrer le Pharaon Hophra, roi d'Egypte, aux mains de sesennemis et de ceux qui en veulent à sa vie, de la même façon que j'ai livré Sédécias, roi de Juda, aux mains deNabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, son ennemi qui en voulait à sa vie.
