Jeremiah 44

1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,	1 Parola annunziata per mezzo di Geremia a tutti i Giudei che abitavano nella terra d'Egitto, in Magdalo, Tafnis, Menfì e nella terra di Fatures, in questi termini:
2 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,	2 « Così parla il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Voi avete veduti tutti i mali che io ho mandati sopra Gerusalemme e sopra tutte le città di Giuda: ecco oggi sono un deserto e non v'è chi le abiti,
3 Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.	3 a causa del male da essi commesso per provocarmi a sdegno, coll'andare ad offrir sacrifizi e a rendere onore a dèi stranieri, ignoti ad essi, a voi ed ai vostri padri.
4 Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.	4 Io vi mandai con ogni sollecitudine tutti i miei servi, i profeti, li mandai a dire: Non vogliate fare tali cose abominevoli che io odio.
5 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.	5 E non stettero a sentire, e non piegaron le orecchie per convertirsi dalle loro malvagità e non sacrificar più a dèi stanieri.
6 Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.	6 E s'accese il mio sdegno, il mio furore, e divampò nelle città di Giuda, nelle piazze di Gerusalemme, che diventaron deserti e rovine, come sono oggi.
7 Therefore now this saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;	7 Ed ora così parla il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Perchè fate questo gran male contro le anime vostre, in modo da sterminare da Giuda i vostri uomini e le donne e i fanciulli e i bambini lattanti, da non far rimanere più nulla di voi,
8 In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?	8 irritandomi colle opere delle vostre mani, offrendo sacrifizi a dèi stranieri nella terra d'Egitto, nella quale siete entrati per abitarvi, per essere sterminati e divenire oggetto di maledizione e di obbrobrio per tutte le nazioni della terra?
9 Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?	9 Avete forse dimenticate le malvagità dei padri vostri, le malvagità dei re di Giuda, le malvagità delle loro mogli, le vostre malvagità e le malvagità delle vostre mogli, commesse nella terra di Giuda, nelle vie di Gerusalemme?
10 They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.	10 E fino a questo giorno non si sono purificati, non hanno avuto timore, non hanno agito secondo la legge di Dio e i miei precetti, da me dati a voi e ai vostri padri.
11 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.	11 Per questo, così parla il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Ecco io porrò contro di voi la mia faccia a vostra rovina, e sterminerò tutto Giuda.
12 And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.	12 Ed io prenderò gli avanzi di Giuda che si ostinarono a venire nella terra d'Egitto ad abitarvi, e li farò tutti sterminare nella terra d'Egitto. Cadranno per la spada e per la fame, e saranno sterminati dal più piccolo al più grande, moriranno di spada e di fame, e saranno oggetto di esecrazione, di maraviglia, di maledizione, di obbrobrio.
13 For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:	13 E visiterò gli abitanti dell'Egitto come ho visitato Gerusalemme, colla spada, colla fame, colla peste.
14 So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape.	14 Nessuno scamperà, nessuno rimarrà degli avanzi dei Giudei che vanno a pellegrinare nella terra d'Egitto, per tornare nella terra di Giuda, alla quale essi sospirano di ritornare e di abitarvi: non ritorneranno che quelli i quali fuggiranno ».
15 Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,	15 Ma tutti gli uomini, i quali sapevano come le loro mogli offrivano sacrifizi a dèi stranieri, e tutte le donne che ivi erano in gran numero, e tutto il popolo che abitava nella terra d'Egitto, in Fatures, risposero a Geremia, dicendo:
16 As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.	16 « Riguardo alle parole che ci hai dette nel nome del Signore, non ti staremo a sentire,
17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.	17 ma faremo assolutamente quello che diremo: faremo sacrifizi e libazioni alla regina del cielo come già facemmo noi, i nostri padri, i nostri re e i nostri principi nelle città di Giuda e nelle piazze di Gerusalemme, ed avemmo pane in abbondanza, e fummo felici e non vedemmo sventure.
18 But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.	18 Ma dal tempo in cui cessammo di fare sacrifizi e libazioni alla regina del cielo, manchiamo di tutto e siamo sterminati dalla spada e dalla fame.
19 And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?	19 E se noi facciamo sacrifizi e libazioni alla regina del cielo, è forse senza i nostri mariti che le abbiamo fatto schiacciate per onorarla e le abbiamo offerte libazioni? »
20 Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,	20 Allora Geremia parlò a tutto il popolo contro gli uomini, contro le donne e contro tutta la plebe che gli avevan così risposto, e disse:
21 The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?	21 « Non son forse i sacrifizi che voi offriste nelle città di Giuda e nelle piazze di Gerusalemme, voi, i vostri padri, i vostri re, i vostri principi e il popolo della terra, che il Signore ha ricordato e che han messo lo sdegno nel suo cuore?
22 So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.	22 Il Signore non poteva più sopportare la malizia delle vostre inclinazioni, le abominazioni da voi fatte, e la vostra terra è stata ridotta a deserto, a oggetto di maraviglia e di esecrazione, e non c'è chi la abiti, come è oggi.
23 Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.	23 E questo perchè voi sacrificaste agli idoli, e peccaste contro il Signore, e non ascoltaste la voce del Signore, e non agiste secondo la sua legge, i suoi precetti, i suoi insegnamenti, ecco perchè vi sono venute addosso queste sventure, come oggi si vede ».
24 Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:	24 E Geremia disse a tutto il popolo e a tutte le donne: « Udite la parola del Signore, voi tutti di Giuda che siete nella terra d'Egitto:
25 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.	25 Queste cose dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Voi e le vostre mogli colla bocca avete detto e colle mani avete compite le parole: « Sciogliamo i nostri voti da noi fatti di offrire sacrifizi e libazioni alla regina del cielo ». Avete sciolti i vostri voti, li avete soddisfatti colle opere.
26 Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.	26 Per questo state a sentire la parola del Signore, o voi tutti di Giuda che abitate nella terra d'Egitto. Ecco io l'ho giurato pel mio gran nome — dice il Signore — che il nome mio non sarà più pronunziato in tutta la terra d'Egitto dalla bocca di nessun Giudeo che dica: « Vive il Signore Dio ».
27 Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.	27 Ecco io veglierò sopra di loro, a loro danno e non per loro bene, e tutti gli uomini di Giuda che sono nella terra d'Egitto saran distrutti dalla spada, dalla fame, fino ad essere del tutta sterminati.
28 Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.	28 E quelli che potran fuggire la spada torneranno dalla terra d'Egitto nella terra di Giuda in piccol numero, e tutti gli avanzi di Giuda che sono entrati in Egitto, per abitarvi, conosceranno se si sia avverata la mia o la loro parola.
29 And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:	29 Ed eccovi — dice il Signore —il segno della visita che io vi farò in questo luogo, per farvi intendere come le mie parole veramente si compiranno contro di voi per vostra rovina.
30 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaoh-hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.	30 Queste cose dice il Signore: Ecco io darò il Faraone Efree, re d'Egitto, in potere dei suoi nemici, in potere di quelli che ne vogliono la morte, come abbandonai Sedecia re di Giuda nelle mani del suo nemico Nabucodonosor re di Babilonia che ne voleva la morte ».
