Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast. | 1 Unto the end. May you not destroy. Of David, with the inscription of a title. |
I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me. | 2 If, truly and certainly, you speak justice, then judge what is right, you sons of men. |
He shall send from heaven, and save from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth. | 3 For, even in your heart, you work iniquity. Your hands construct injustice on the earth. |
My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword. | 4 Sinners have become foreigners from the womb; they have gone astray from conception. They have been speaking falsehoods. |
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. | 5 Their fury is similar to that of a serpent; it is like a deaf asp, who even blocks her ears, |
They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down: they have digged a pit before me, into the midst whereof they are fallen themselves. Selah. | 6 who will not listen to the voice of charmers, nor even to the enchanter who chants wisely. |
My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise. | 7 God will crush their teeth within their own mouth. The Lord will break the molars of the lions. |
Awake up, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early. | 8 They will come to nothing, like water flowing away. He has aimed his bow, while they are being weakened. |
I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations. | 9 Like wax that flows, they will be carried away. Fire has fallen upon them, and they will not see the sun. |
For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds. | 10 Before your thorns could know the brier, he consumes them alive, as if in rage. |
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth. | 11 The just one will rejoice when he sees vindication. He will wash his hands in the blood of the sinner. |
And man will say, “If the just one is fruitful, then, truly, there is a God judging them on earth.” |
