1 LORD, remember David, and all his afflictions:	1 Cantique des montées. Ô Seigneur, souviens-toi de David, de son entière disponibilité,
2 How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;	2 lorsqu’il fit au Seigneur son serment, lorsqu’il fit ce vœu au Puissant de Jacob:
3 Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;	3 “Je n’entrerai pas dans ma maison de toile, je ne monterai pas sur le lit où je me couche,
4 I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,	4 le sommeil ne fermera pas mes yeux et mes paupières n’auront point de repos
5 Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.	5 jusqu’à ce que je trouve un lieu pour le Seigneur, une demeure pour le Fort de Jacob.”
6 Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.	6 Bientôt c’est une rumeur: “L’arche est à Éfrata, nous l’avons trouvée aux terres de Yaar.”
7 We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool.	7 Allons donc jusqu’à sa demeure, prosternons-nous devant l’escabeau de ses pieds.
8 Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.	8 Lève-toi, Seigneur! viens au lieu de ton repos, toi et ton arche, sacrement de ta force.
9 Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.	9 Que tes prêtres se vêtent comme pour un triomphe, et que tes fidèles soient en fête.
10 For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.	10 Souviens-toi de David, ton serviteur, et ne te détourne pas du roi, ton élu.
11 The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.	11 Le Seigneur l’a juré à David -c’est donc vrai, il ne peut se reprendre: “Je veux maintenir sur ton trône, des rois nés de ton sang.
12 If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.	12 Si tes fils observent mon alliance et mes volontés que je leur ferai connaître, leurs fils aussi, au long des âges, siégeront sur ton trône.”
13 For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.	13 Car le Seigneur a choisi Sion, il l’a désirée pour sa résidence:
14 This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.	14 “Elle sera pour toujours le lieu où je repose, je l’ai aimée, c’est assez pour que j’y reste.”
15 I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.	15 Ma bénédiction sera sur ses greniers et ses pauvres mangeront à leur faim.
16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.	16 Ses prêtres se verront couverts de mon salut et ses fidèles crieront leur joie.
17 There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.	17 David aura toujours là sa lampe allumée, c’est de là que je ferai sortir sa victoire.
18 His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.	18 Je couvrirai ses ennemis de honte mais sur lui fleuriront les fleurons de sa couronne.
