1 After these things was a festival day of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.	1 Después de esto, se celebraba una fiesta de los judíos, y Jesús subió a Jerusalén.
2 Now there is at Jerusalem a pond, called Probatica, which in Hebrew is named Bethsaida, having five porches.	2 Hay en Jerusalén, junto a la Puerta de las Ovejas, una piscina que llaman en hebreo Betesda. Esta tiene cinco soportales,
3 In these lay a great multitude of sick, of blind, of lame, of withered; waiting for the moving of the water.	3 y allí estaban echados muchos enfermos, ciegos, cojos, paralíticos.
4 And an angel of the Lord descended at certain times into the pond; and the water was moved. And he that went down first into the pond after the motion of the water, was made whole, of whatsoever infirmity he lay under.	4 [«que esperaban el movimiento de las aguas; pues el ángel del Señor bajaba de tiempo en tiempo a la piscina y se movía el agua y el primero que descendía a la piscina tras el movimiento de agua quedaba sano de cualquier enfermedad que tuviera».]
5 And there was a certain man there, that had been eight and thirty years under his infirmity.	5 Estaba también allí un hombre que llevaba treinta y ocho años enfermo.
6 Him when Jesus had seen lying, and knew that he had been now a long time, he saith to him: Wilt thou be made whole?	6 Jesús, al verlo echado, y sabiendo que ya llevaba mucho tiempo, le dice: «¿Quieres quedar sano?».
7 The infirm man answered him: Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pond. For whilst I am coming, another goeth down before me.	7 El enfermo le contestó: «Señor, no tengo a nadie que me meta en la piscina cuando se remueve el agua; para cuando llego yo, otro se me ha adelantado».
8 Jesus saith to him: Arise, take up thy bed, and walk.	8 Jesús le dice: «Levántate, toma tu camilla y echa a andar».
9 And immediately the man was made whole: and he took up his bed, and walked. And it was the sabbath that day.	9 Y al momento el hombre quedó sano, tomó su camilla y echó a andar. Aquel día era sábado,
10 The Jews therefore said to him that was healed: It is the sabbath; it is not lawful for thee to take up thy bed.	10 y los judíos dijeron al hombre que había quedado sano: «Hoy es sábado, y no se puede llevar la camilla».
11 He answered them: He that made me whole, he said to me, Take up thy bed, and walk.	11 Él les contestó: «El que me ha curado es quien me ha dicho: “Toma tu camilla y echa a andar”».
12 They asked him therefore: Who is that man who said to thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?	12 Ellos le preguntaron: «¿Quién es el que te ha dicho que tomes la camilla y eches a andar?».
13 But he who was healed, knew not who it was; for Jesus went aside from the multitude standing in the place.	13 Pero el que había quedado sano no sabía quién era, porque Jesús, a causa del gentío que había en aquel sitio, se había alejado.
14 Afterwards, Jesus findeth him in the temple, and saith to him: Behold thou art made whole: sin no more, lest some worse thing happen to thee.	14 Más tarde lo encuentra Jesús en el templo y le dice: «Mira, has quedado sano; no peques más, no sea que te ocurra algo peor».
15 The man went his way, and told the Jews, that it was Jesus who had made him whole.	15 Se marchó aquel hombre y dijo a los judíos que era Jesús quien lo había sanado.
16 Therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, because he did these things on the sabbath.	16 Por esto los judíos perseguían a Jesús, porque hacía tales cosas en sábado.
17 But Jesus answered them: My Father worketh until now; and I work.	17 Jesús les dijo: «Mi Padre sigue actuando, y yo también actúo».
18 Hereupon therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he did not only break the sabbath, but also said God was his Father, making himself equal to God.	18 Por eso los judíos tenían más ganas de matarlo: porque no solo quebrantaba el sábado, sino también llamaba a Dios Padre suyo, haciéndose igual a Dios.
19 Then Jesus answered, and said to them: Amen, amen, I say unto you, the Son cannot do any thing of himself, but what he seeth the Father doing: for what things soever he doth, these the Son also doth in like manner.	19 Jesús tomó la palabra y les dijo: «En verdad, en verdad os digo: el Hijo no puede hacer nada por su cuenta sino lo que viere hacer al Padre. Lo que hace este, eso mismo hace también el Hijo,
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things which himself doth: and greater works than these will he shew him, that you may wonder.	20 pues el Padre ama al Hijo y le muestra todo lo que él hace, y le mostrará obras mayores que esta, para vuestro asombro.
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and giveth life: so the Son also giveth life to whom he will.	21 Lo mismo que el Padre resucita a los muertos y les da vida, así también el Hijo da vida a los que quiere.
22 For neither doth the Father judge any man, but hath given all judgment to the Son.	22 Porque el Padre no juzga a nadie, sino que ha confiado al Hijo todo el juicio,
23 That all men may honour the Son, as they honour the Father. He who honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father, who hath sent him.	23 para que todos honren al Hijo como honran al Padre. El que no honra al Hijo, no honra al Padre que lo envió.
24 Amen, amen I say unto you, that he who heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath life everlasting; and cometh not into judgment, but is passed from death to life.	24 En verdad, en verdad os digo: quien escucha mi palabra y cree al que me envió posee la vida eterna y no incurre en juicio, sino que ha pasado ya de la muerte a la vida.
25 Amen, amen I say unto you, that the hour cometh, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live.	25 En verdad, en verdad os digo: llega la hora, y ya está aquí, en que los muertos oirán la voz del Hijo de Dios, y los que hayan oído vivirán.
26 For as the Father hath life in himself, so he hath given the Son also to have life in himself:	26 Porque, igual que el Padre tiene vida en sí mismo, así ha dado también al Hijo tener vida en sí mismo.
27 And he hath given him power to do judgment, because he is the Son of man.	27 Y le ha dado potestad de juzgar, porque es el Hijo del hombre.
28 Wonder not at this; for the hour cometh, wherein all that are in the graves shall hear the voice of the Son of God.	28 No os sorprenda esto, porque viene la hora en que los que están en el sepulcro oirán su voz:
29 And they that have done good things, shall come forth unto the resurrection of life; but they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of judgment.	29 los que hayan hecho el bien saldrán a una resurrección de vida; los que hayan hecho el mal, a una resurrección de juicio.
30 I cannot of myself do any thing. As I hear, so I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.	30 Yo no puedo hacer nada por mí mismo; según le oigo, juzgo, y mi juicio es justo, porque no busco mi voluntad, sino la voluntad del que me envió.
31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.	31 Si yo doy testimonio de mí mismo, mi testimonio no es verdadero.
32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.	32 Hay otro que da testimonio de mí, y sé que es verdadero el testimonio que da de mí.
33 You sent to John, and he gave testimony to the truth.	33 Vosotros enviasteis mensajeros a Juan, y él ha dado testimonio en favor de la verdad.
34 But I receive not testimony from man: but I say these things, that you may be saved.	34 No es que yo dependa del testimonio de un hombre; si digo esto es para que vosotros os salvéis.
35 He was a burning and a shining light: and you were willing for a time to rejoice in his light.	35 Juan era la lámpara que ardía y brillaba, y vosotros quisisteis gozar un instante de su luz.
36 But I have a greater testimony than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to perfect; the works themselves, which I do, give testimony of me, that the Father hath sent me.	36 Pero el testimonio que yo tengo es mayor que el de Juan: las obras que el Padre me ha concedido llevar a cabo, esas obras que hago dan testimonio de mí: que el Padre me ha enviado.
37 And the Father himself who hath sent me, hath given testimony of me: neither have you heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.	37 Y el Padre que me envió, él mismo ha dado testimonio de mí. Nunca habéis escuchado su voz, ni visto su rostro,
38 And you have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him you believe not.	38 y su palabra no habita en vosotros, porque al que él envió no lo creéis.
39 Search the scriptures, for you think in them to have life everlasting; and the same are they that give testimony of me.	39 Estudiáis las Escrituras pensando encontrar en ellas vida eterna; pues ellas están dando testimonio de mí,
40 And you will not come to me that you may have life.	40 ¡y no queréis venir a mí para tener vida!
41 I receive glory not from men.	41 No recibo gloria de los hombres;
42 But I know you, that you have not the love of God in you.	42 además, os conozco y sé que el amor de Dios no está en vosotros.
43 I am come in the name of my Father, and you receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him you will receive.	43 Yo he venido en nombre de mi Padre, y no me recibisteis; si otro viene en nombre propio, a ese sí lo recibiréis.
44 How can you believe, who receive glory one from another: and the glory which is from God alone, you do not seek?	44 ¿Cómo podréis creer vosotros, que aceptáis gloria unos de otros y no buscáis la gloria que viene del único Dios?
45 Think not that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one that accuseth you, Moses, in whom you trust.	45 No penséis que yo os voy a acusar ante el Padre, hay uno que os acusa: Moisés, en quien tenéis vuestra esperanza.
46 For if you did believe Moses, you would perhaps believe me also; for he wrote of me.	46 Si creyerais a Moisés, me creeríais a mí, porque de mí escribió él.
47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?	47 Pero, si no creéis en sus escritos, ¿cómo vais a creer en mis palabras?».
