1 Proverbi di Salomone. Un figlio saggio dà gioia al padre, un figlio stolto è la tristezza di sua madre.	1 The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes his father glad, but a foolish son is a grief to his mother.
2 Non fanno profitto i tesori iniqui, ma la giustizia libera dalla morte.	2 Ill-gotten treasures profit nothing, but virtue saves from death.
3 Il Signore non fa morire di fame un giusto, ma reprime l'ingordigia degli empi.	3 The LORD permits not the just to hunger, but the craving of the wicked he thwarts.
4 Produce indigenza una mano indolente, una mano svelta invece arricchisce.	4 The slack hand impoverishes, but the hand of the diligent enriches.
5 Chi ammassa d'estate è un uomo assennato, ma chi dorme al raccolto è un uomo spregevole.	5 A son who fills the granaries in summer is a credit; a son who slumbers during harvest, a disgrace.
6 Le benedizioni del Signore sono sul capo del giusto, ma dolore immaturo chiude la bocca degli empi.	6 Blessings are for the head of the just, but a rod for the back of the fool.
7 La memoria del giusto è in benedizione, il nome degli empi invece marcisce.	7 The memory of the just will be blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
8 Il saggio di cuore accetta i precetti, lo stolto di labbra va invece in rovina.	8 A wise man heeds commands, but a prating fool will be overthrown.
9 Chi cammina sincero, cammina sicuro, ma chi imbocca le vie tortuose è smascherato.	9 He who walks honestly walks securely, but he whose ways are crooked will fare badly.
10 Chi strizza l'occhio, procura tristezza, ma chi corregge con forza, procura la pace.	10 He who winks at a fault causes trouble, but he who frankly reproves promotes peace.
11 Sorgente di vita, la bocca del giusto, ma la bocca degli empi racchiude la violenza.	11 A fountain of life is the mouth of the just, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
12 L'odio procura i litigi, ma tutte le colpe ricopre l'amore.	12 Hatred stirs up disputes, but love covers all offenses.
13 Sulla bocca dell'uomo assennato si trova saggezza, ma il bastone è per la schiena dell'insensato.	13 On the lips of the intelligent is found wisdom, (but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence).
14 I saggi fan tesoro della scienza, ma la bocca dello stolto è una rovina imminente.	14 Wise men store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool is imminent ruin.
15 I beni del ricco sono la sua roccaforte, ma la rovina dei poveri è la loro indigenza.	15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the ruination of the lowly is their poverty.
16 Il salario del giusto procura la vita, ma il guadagno dell'empio è la rovina.	16 The just man's recompense leads to life, the gains of the wicked, to sin.
17 Va verso la vita chi custodisce la disciplina, ma chi trascura la correzione sbanda.	17 A path to life is his who heeds admonition, but he who disregards reproof goes astray.
18 Occultano l'odio le labbra giuste, ma chi sparge calunnie è uno stolto.	18 It is the lips of the liar that conceal hostility; but he who spreads accusations is a fool.
19 Troppe parole non son senza colpa, ma chi frena la lingua è un uomo prudente.	19 Where words are many, sin is not wanting; but he who restrains his lips does well.
20 Argento colato è la lingua del giusto, ma il cuore degli empi è cosa da poco.	20 Like choice silver is the just man's tongue; the heart of the wicked is of little worth.
21 Le labbra del giusto nutron le folle, gli stolti invece muoiono in povertà.	21 The just man's lips nourish many, but fools die for want of sense.
22 La benedizione del Signore arricchisce, ma niente vi aggiunge lo sforzo.	22 It is the LORD'S blessing that brings wealth, and no effort can substitute for it.
23 Allo stolto dà gioia compiere il male, ma agir con saggezza all'uomo sensato.	23 Crime is the entertainment of the fool; so is wisdom for the man of sense.
24 Ciò che l'empio teme gli arriva, ma ai giusti vien dato ciò che desiderano.	24 What the wicked man fears will befall him, but the desire of the just will be granted.
25 Passa l'uragano e l'empio non c'è più, il giusto invece resta saldo in eterno.	25 When the tempest passes, the wicked man is no more; but the just man is established forever.
26 Come l'aceto per i denti e il fumo per gli occhi, così è il pigro per chi l'ha inviato.	26 As vinegar to the teeth, and smoke to the eyes, is the sluggard to those who use him as a messenger.
27 Il timore del Signore aumenta i giorni, ma gli anni degli empi sono accorciati.	27 The fear of the LORD prolongs life, but the years of the wicked are brief.
28 L'attesa dei giusti è la gioia ma la speranza degli empi va in fumo.	28 The hope of the just brings them joy, but the expectation of the wicked comes to nought.
29 Il Signore è un rifugio per l'onesto, ma una rovina per chi opera il male.	29 The LORD is a stronghold to him who walks honestly, but to evildoers, their downfall.
30 Il giusto mai vacillerà, ma gli empi non abiteranno la terra.	30 The just man will never be disturbed, but the wicked will not abide in the land.
31 La bocca del giusto espande sapienza, ma la lingua perversa verrà estirpata.	31 The mouth of the just yields wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.
32 Le labbra del giusto spandono benevolenza, ma la bocca degli empi cose perverse.	32 The lips of the just know how to please, but the mouth of the wicked, how to pervert.
