1 ועל דבר העתים והזמנים אין צרך לכתב אליכם אחי	1 About times and dates, brothers, there is no need to write to you
2 הלא אף אתם ידעתם היטב כי יום יהוה כגנב בלילה כן בוא יבוא	2 for you are wel aware in any case that the Day of the Lord is going to come like a thief in the night.
3 כי בעת אמרם שלום ושלוה יבא עליהם השבר פתאם כחבלים על ההרה ולא יוכלו להמלט	3 It is when people are saying, 'How quiet and peaceful it is' that sudden destruction fal s on them, assuddenly as labour pains come on a pregnant woman; and there is no escape.
4 אבל אתם אחי אינכם בחשך שישיג אתכם היום כגנב	4 But you, brothers, do not live in the dark, that the Day should take you unawares like a thief.
5 אתם כלכם בני האור ובני היום לא בני הלילה אנחנו ולא בני החשך	5 No, you are al children of light and children of the day: we do not belong to the night or to darkness,
6 לכן אל נא נרדם כמו האחרים כי אם נשקד וננזר	6 so we should not go on sleeping, as everyone else does, but stay wide awake and sober.
7 כי הנרדמים הם בלילה נרדמים והמשתכרים משתכרים בלילה	7 Night is the time for sleepers to sleep and night the time for drunkards to be drunk,
8 ואנחנו בני היום ננזרה נא ונלבש את שריון האמונה והאהבה וככובע את תקות הישועה	8 but we belong to the day and we should be sober; let us put on faith and love for a breastplate, and thehope of salvation for a helmet.
9 יען אשר לא יעדנו האלהים לחרון כי אם לנחל את הישועה על ידי אדנינו ישוע המשיח	9 God destined us not for his retribution, but to win salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 אשר מת בעדנו למען אם נשקד ואם נישן חיה נחיה עמו יחד	10 who died for us so that, awake or asleep, we should stil live united to him.
11 על כן נחמו זה את זה ובנו איש את אחיו כאשר גם עשיתם	11 So give encouragement to each other, and keep strengthening one another, as you do already.
12 והננו מבקשים מכם אחי להכיר את העמלים בכם ואשר הם נצבים עליכם באדון ומוכיחים אתכם	12 We appeal to you, my brothers, to be considerate to those who work so hard among you as yourleaders in the Lord and those who admonish you.
13 אשר תנהגו בם כבוד עד למעלה באהבה למען פעלתם ויהי שלום ביניכם	13 Have the greatest respect and affection for them because of their work. Be at peace amongyourselves.
14 והננו מזהירים אתכם אחי הוכיחו את הסוררים אמצו את רכי הלבב תמכו את החלשים והאריכו רוח אל כל אדם	14 We urge you, brothers, to admonish those who are undisciplined, encourage the apprehensive,support the weak and be patient with everyone.
15 וראו פן ישלם איש לאיש רעה תחת רעה כי אם רדפו בכל עת את הטוב הן לאיש איש מכם הן לכל אדם	15 Make sure that people do not try to repay evil for evil; always aim at what is best for each other and foreveryone.
16 היו שמחים בכל עת	16 Always be joyful;
17 התמידו בתפלה	17 pray constantly;
18 הודו על הכל כי זה רצון האלהים אליכם במשיח ישוע	18 and for al things give thanks; this is the wil of God for you in Christ Jesus.
19 את הרוח לא תכבו	19 Do not stifle the Spirit
20 את הנבואות לא תמאסו	20 or despise the gift of prophecy with contempt;
21 בחנו כל דבר ובטוב אחזו	21 test everything and hold on to what is good
22 התרחקו מכל הדומה לרע	22 and shun every form of evil.
23 והוא אלהי השלום יקדש אתכם קדשה שלמה וכל רוחכם ונפשכם וגופכם ישמר תמים בבוא אדנינו ישוע המשיח	23 May the God of peace make you perfect and holy; and may your spirit, life and body be keptblameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 נאמן הקורא אתכם אשר גם יעשה	24 He who has cal ed you is trustworthy and wil carry it out.
25 אחי התפללו בעדנו	25 Pray for us, my brothers.
26 שאלו לשלום כל האחים בנשיקה הקדשה	26 Greet al the brothers with a holy kiss.
27 הנני משביעכם באדון שתקרא האגרת הזאת באזני כל האחים הקדשים	27 My orders, in the Lord's name, are that this letter is to be read to al the brothers.
28 חסד ישוע המשיח אדנינו עמכם אמן	28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.2Th 1:1 Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the Church in Thessalonica which is in God our Father and the LordJesus Christ
