| 1 Depois disto (levantou-se Natã, profeta) no tempo de Davi. | 1 And after him Nathan rose up to prophesy in the days of David. |
| 2 Assim como a gordura (da vitamina) se separa da carne, assim foi Davi separado do meio dos israelitas. | 2 As the fat is selected from the peace offering, so David was selected from the sons of Israel. |
| 3 Ele brincou com os leões como se fossem cordeiros, e tratou os ursos como cordeirinhos. | 3 He played with lions as with young goats, and with bears as with lambs of the flock. |
| 4 Não foi ele quem, em sua mocidade, matou o gigante, e tirou a vergonha do seu povo? | 4 In his youth did he not kill a giant, and take away reproach from the people, when he lifted his hand with a stone in the sling and struck down the boasting of Goliath? |
| 5 Levantando a mão, com uma pedra de sua funda abateu a insolência de Golias, | 5 For he appealed to the Lord, the Most High, and he gave him strength in his right hand to slay a man mighty in war, to exalt the power of his people. |
| 6 pois ele invocou o Senhor todo-poderoso, o qual deu à sua destra força para derrubar o temível guerreiro, e para levantar o poder do seu povo. | 6 So they glorified him for his ten thousands, and praised him for the blessings of the Lord, when the glorious diadem was bestowed upon him. |
| 7 Assim, foi ele festejado por causa (da morte) de dez mil homens. Louvaram-no nas bênçãos do Senhor, e ofereceram-lhe uma coroa de glória, | 7 For he wiped out his enemies on every side, and annihilated his adversaries the Philistines; he crushed their power even to this day. |
| 8 porque ele esmagou os inimigos de todos os lados, exterminou u os filisteus, seus adversários, (como se vê) ainda hoje, e abateu o seu poder para sempre. | 8 In all that he did he gave thanks to the Holy One, the Most High, with ascriptions of glory; he sang praise with all his heart, and he loved his Maker. |
| 9 Fez de todas as suas obras uma homenagem ao Santo e ao Altíssimo com palavras de louvor. | 9 He placed singers before the altar, to make sweet melody with their voices. |
| 10 Louvor ao Senhor com todo o coração. Amou a Deus que o criou, e lhe deu poder contra seus inimigos. | 10 He gave beauty to the feasts, and arranged their times throughout the year, while they praised God's holy name, and the sanctuary resounded from early morning. |
| 11 Estabeleceu cantores diante do altar, e compôs suaves melodias para os seus cânticos. | 11 The Lord took away his sins, and exalted his power for ever; he gave him the covenant of kings and a throne of glory in Israel. |
| 12 Deu esplendor às festividades, e brilho aos dias solenes, até o fim da vida, para que fosse louvado o santo nome do Senhor, e fosse glorificada desde o amanhecer a santidade de Deus. | 12 After him rose up a wise son who fared amply because of him; |
| 13 O Senhor purificou-o de seus pecados, engrandeceu o seu poder para sempre, e firmou-lhe, por sua aliança, a realeza e um trono de glória em Israel. | 13 Solomon reigned in days of peace, and God gave him rest on every side, that he might build a house for his name and prepare a sanctuary to stand for ever. |
| 14 Depois dele, apareceu seu filho, cheio de sabedoria; por causa dele o Senhor derrubou todo o poder dos inimigos. | 14 How wise you became in your youth! You overflowed like a river with understanding. |
| 15 Salomão reinou em dias de paz. Deus submeteu a ele todos os seus inimigos, | 15 Your soul covered the earth, and you filled it with parables and riddles. |
| 16 a fim de que ele construísse uma casa ao nome do Senhor, e lhe preparasse um santuário eterno. Quão bem foste instruído na tua juventude! Foste cheio de sabedoria como um rio. Tua alma cobriu toda a terra. | 16 Your name reached to far-off islands, and you were loved for your peace. |
| 17 Encerraste enigmas em sentenças, teu nome foi glorificado até nas ilhas longínquas, e foste amado na tua paz. | 17 For your songs and proverbs and parables, and for your interpretations, the countries marveled at you. |
| 18 Por teus cânticos, provérbios, parábolas e interpretações, foste admirado por toda a terra. | 18 In the name of the Lord God, who is called the God of Israel, you gathered gold like tin and amassed silver like lead. |
| 19 Em nome do Senhor Deus, que é chamado o Deus de Israel, | 19 But you laid your loins beside women, and through your body you were brought into subjection. |
| 20 ajuntaste montes de ouro como se fosse bronze, amontoaste prata como se faz com o chumbo. | 20 You put stain upon your honor, and defiled your posterity, so that you brought wrath upon your children and they were grieved at your folly, |
| 21 Entregaste teus flancos às mulheres, saciaste teu corpo, | 21 so that the sovereignty was divided and a disobedient kingdom arose out of Ephraim. |
| 22 maculaste tua glória, profanaste tua raça, atraindo assim a cólera sobre teus filhos, e o castigo sobre tua loucura, | 22 But the Lord will never give up his mercy, nor cause any of his works to perish; he will never blot out the descendants of his chosen one, nor destroy the posterity of him who loved him; so he gave a remnant to Jacob, and to David a root of his stock. |
| 23 causando com isso um cisma no reino, e fazendo sair de Efraim uma dominação rebelde. | 23 Solomon rested with his fathers, and left behind him one of his sons, ample in folly and lacking in understanding, Rehoboam, whose policy caused the people to revolt. Also Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin and gave Ephraim a sinful way. |
| 24 Mas Deus não esqueceu a sua misericórdia, não destruiu nem aniquilou as suas obras; não arrancou pela raiz a posteridade de seu eleito, não exterminou a raça daquele que ama o Senhor. | 24 Their sins became exceedingly many, so as to remove them from their land. |
| 25 Ao contrário, deixou um resto a Jacó, e a Davi um rebento de sua raça. | 25 For they sought out every sort of wickedness, till vengeance came upon them. |
| 26 E Salomão teve um fim semelhante ao de seus pais. | |
| 27 Deixou depois de si um filho que foi a loucura da nação, | |
| 28 um homem desprovido de juízo, chamado Roboão, que transviou o povo por seu conselho. | |
| 29 E Jeroboão, filho de Nabat, que fez Israel pecar, e abriu para Efraim o caminho da iniqüidade. Houve entre eles uma profusão de pecados, | |
| 30 que os expulsaram para longe de sua terra. | |
| 31 Procuraram todos os meios de fazer o mal, até que veio a vingança, que pôs um termo às suas iniqüidades. | |
