1 Depois disto (levantou-se Natã, profeta) no tempo de Davi.	1 After these things, Nathan the prophet arose, in the days of David.
2 Assim como a gordura (da vitamina) se separa da carne, assim foi Davi separado do meio dos israelitas.	2 And just as fat is separated from meat, so was David separated from the sons of Israel.
3 Ele brincou com os leões como se fossem cordeiros, e tratou os ursos como cordeirinhos.	3 He played with lions, as if with lambs, and he acted similarly with bears, as if they were lambs of the flock, in his youth.
4 Não foi ele quem, em sua mocidade, matou o gigante, e tirou a vergonha do seu povo?	4 Did he not kill the giant, and take away the reproach from his people?
5 Levantando a mão, com uma pedra de sua funda abateu a insolência de Golias,	5 By lifting up his hand, with a stone in a sling, he threw down the boasting of Goliath.
6 pois ele invocou o Senhor todo-poderoso, o qual deu à sua destra força para derrubar o temível guerreiro, e para levantar o poder do seu povo.	6 For he called upon the Almighty Lord, and he swore with his right hand to take away the mighty man of war, and to exalt the horn of his people.
7 Assim, foi ele festejado por causa (da morte) de dez mil homens. Louvaram-no nas bênçãos do Senhor, e ofereceram-lhe uma coroa de glória,	7 So he glorified him amid ten thousand, and he praised him with the blessings of the Lord, by offering him a crown of glory.
8 porque ele esmagou os inimigos de todos os lados, exterminou u os filisteus, seus adversários, (como se vê) ainda hoje, e abateu o seu poder para sempre.	8 For he crushed the enemies on every side, and he eradicated his adversaries, the Philistines, even to this day. He broke their horn, even for all time.
9 Fez de todas as suas obras uma homenagem ao Santo e ao Altíssimo com palavras de louvor.	9 In all his works, he gave thanks to the Holy One, to the Most High, with words of glory.
10 Louvor ao Senhor com todo o coração. Amou a Deus que o criou, e lhe deu poder contra seus inimigos.	10 With all his heart, he praised the Lord and he loved God, who made him and who gave him power against his enemies.
11 Estabeleceu cantores diante do altar, e compôs suaves melodias para os seus cânticos.	11 And he appointed singers to stand opposite the altar, and by their voices he provided sweet music.
12 Deu esplendor às festividades, e brilho aos dias solenes, até o fim da vida, para que fosse louvado o santo nome do Senhor, e fosse glorificada desde o amanhecer a santidade de Deus.	12 And he provided beauty for the celebrations, and he gave order to the times, even until the end of his life, so that they would praise the holy name of the Lord, and magnify the sanctity of God, from early morning.
13 O Senhor purificou-o de seus pecados, engrandeceu o seu poder para sempre, e firmou-lhe, por sua aliança, a realeza e um trono de glória em Israel.	13 The Lord purged his sins, and he exalted his horn forever. And he gave him the covenant of the kingdom, and a throne of glory in Israel.
14 Depois dele, apareceu seu filho, cheio de sabedoria; por causa dele o Senhor derrubou todo o poder dos inimigos.	14 After him, an understanding son rose up. And by means of him, he cast down all the power of the enemies.
15 Salomão reinou em dias de paz. Deus submeteu a ele todos os seus inimigos,	15 Solomon reigned in days of peace, and God subjected all his enemies to him, so that he might build a house in his name, and prepare a sanctuary for all time. O how well-taught you were in your youth!
16 a fim de que ele construísse uma casa ao nome do Senhor, e lhe preparasse um santuário eterno. Quão bem foste instruído na tua juventude! Foste cheio de sabedoria como um rio. Tua alma cobriu toda a terra.	16 And you were filled with wisdom like a river, and your mind exposed the world.
17 Encerraste enigmas em sentenças, teu nome foi glorificado até nas ilhas longínquas, e foste amado na tua paz.	17 And you explained mysteries by means of parables. Your name became known to far off islands, and you were beloved for your peace.
18 Por teus cânticos, provérbios, parábolas e interpretações, foste admirado por toda a terra.	18 The earth was in wonder over your canticles, and proverbs, and parables, and interpretations,
19 Em nome do Senhor Deus, que é chamado o Deus de Israel,	19 and over the name of the Lord God, who is known as the God of Israel.
20 ajuntaste montes de ouro como se fosse bronze, amontoaste prata como se faz com o chumbo.	20 You gathered gold like copper, and you multiplied silver like lead.
21 Entregaste teus flancos às mulheres, saciaste teu corpo,	21 But you bent your thigh to women, and you were held by the power of your body.
22 maculaste tua glória, profanaste tua raça, atraindo assim a cólera sobre teus filhos, e o castigo sobre tua loucura,	22 You brought a stain upon your glory, and you profaned your seed, so as to bring wrath upon your children, and to incite your foolishness,
23 causando com isso um cisma no reino, e fazendo sair de Efraim uma dominação rebelde.	23 so that you would cause the kingdom to be divided, and an obstinate kingdom to rule from Ephraim.
24 Mas Deus não esqueceu a sua misericórdia, não destruiu nem aniquilou as suas obras; não arrancou pela raiz a posteridade de seu eleito, não exterminou a raça daquele que ama o Senhor.	24 But God will not abandon his mercy, nor will he corrupt or abolish his own works. And he will not perish the stock of the descendents of his elect. And he will not destroy the offspring of him who loves the Lord.
25 Ao contrário, deixou um resto a Jacó, e a Davi um rebento de sua raça.	25 Therefore, he left behind a remnant for Jacob and for David, from the same stock.
26 E Salomão teve um fim semelhante ao de seus pais.	26 And Solomon had his end with his fathers.
27 Deixou depois de si um filho que foi a loucura da nação,	27 And he left behind himself some of his offspring, as the folly of the nation:
28 um homem desprovido de juízo, chamado Roboão, que transviou o povo por seu conselho.	28 both Rehoboam, who had little prudence, and who turned away the people by his counsel,
29 E Jeroboão, filho de Nabat, que fez Israel pecar, e abriu para Efraim o caminho da iniqüidade. Houve entre eles uma profusão de pecados,	29 and Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin, and who provided a way of sin to Ephraim. And their sins were multiplied exceedingly.
30 que os expulsaram para longe de sua terra.	30 They thoroughly turned them away from their own land.
31 Procuraram todos os meios de fazer o mal, até que veio a vingança, que pôs um termo às suas iniqüidades.	31 And they sought every kind of wickedness, even until punishment overwhelmed them, and freed them from every kind of sin.
