BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Celebrate il Signore, perchè figli è buono, perchè la sua misericordia dura in eterno.	1 Al eluia! Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, his faithful love is everlasting!
2 Lo dicano i redenti dal Signore, quelli che ha liberati dal potere del nemico, ha radunati da tutti i paesi:	2 Who can recount al Yahweh's triumphs, who can ful y voice his praise?
3 Dall'oriente e dall'occidente, dal settentrione e dal mare.	3 How blessed are those who keep to what is just, whose conduct is always upright!
4 Andavan errando pel deserto, in aride lande, senza trovar la via di una città da abitare.	4 Remember me, Yahweh, in your love for your people. Come near to me with your saving power,
5 Affamati ed assetati, si sentivan venire meno gli spiriti.	5 let me share the happiness of your chosen ones, let me share the joy of your people, the pride ofyour heritage.
6 Nella tribolazione gridarono al Signore, e li liberò dalle loro angustie.	6 Like our ancestors, we have sinned, we have acted wickedly, guiltily;
7 E li menò per la diritta via, in modo che giungessero a città da abitare.	7 our ancestors in Egypt never grasped the meaning of your wonders. They did not bear in mind yourcountless acts of love, at the Sea of Reeds they defied the Most High;
8 Celebrino il Signore le sue misericordie o le sue maraviglie in favore dei figli degli uomini.	8 but for the sake of his name he saved them, to make known his mighty power.
9 Perchè Egli ha ripiena a sazietà l'anima vuota, e l'anima famelica l'ha saziata di beni.	9 At his rebuke the Sea of Reeds dried up, he let them pass through the deep as though it were desert,
10 Sedevan nelle tenebre e nell'ombra di morte, prigionieri nella miseria e nelle catene;	10 so he saved them from their opponents' clutches, rescued them from the clutches of their enemies.
11 Perchè s'eran ribellati alle parole di Dio ed avevan disprezzati i consigli dell'Altissimo.	11 The waters enveloped their enemies, not one of whom was left.
12 E fu umiliato negli affanni il loro cuore, rimasero senza forze, e non v'era chi li aiutasse.	12 Then they believed what he had said, and sang his praises.
13 Nella tribolazione gridarono al Signore, e li liberò dalle loro angustie.	13 But they soon forgot his achievements, they did not even wait for his plans;
14 Li cavò dalle tenebre e dalle ombre di morte, e ne spezzò le catene.	14 they were overwhelmed with greed in the wastelands, in the solitary wastes they challenged God.
15 Celebrino il Signore le sue misericordie e le sue maraviglie in favore dei figli degli uomini.	15 He gave them al they asked for, but struck them with a deep wasting sickness;
16 Spezzò le porte di bronzo, infranse le sbarre di ferro.	16 in the camp they grew jealous of Moses, and of Aaron, Yahweh's holy one.
17 Li sollevò dalla via delle loro iniquità: erano stati umiliati per o le loro ingiustizie.	17 The earth opened and swal owed up Dathan, closed in on Abiram's faction;
18 Ogni cibo dava toro nausea, toccavan già le soglie della morte.	18 fire flamed out against their faction, the renegades were engulfed in flames.
19 Nella tribolazione gridarono a al Signore e li liberò dalle loro angustie.	19 At Horeb they made a calf, bowed low before cast metal;
20 Mandò la sua Parola e li rinsanò, li scampò dalla distruzione.	20 they exchanged their glory for the image of a grass-eating bull.
21 Celebrino il Signore le sue misericordie e le sue maraviglie in favore dei figli degli uomini.	21 They forgot the God who was saving them, who had done great deeds in Egypt,
22 Offrano un sacrifizio di lode e celebrino giubilando le sue opere.	22 such wonders in the land of Ham, such awesome deeds at the Sea of Reeds.
23 Coloro che solcano sopra navi il mare e van trafficando sopra le vaste onde,	23 He thought of putting an end to them, had not Moses, his chosen one, taken a stand in the breachand confronted him, to turn his anger away from destroying them.
24 Essi videro le opere del Signore, le sue maraviglie negli abissi.	24 They counted a desirable land for nothing, they put no trust in his promise;
25 Alla sua parola si levò il vento della tempesta, e ne furono sollevati i flutti del mare.	25 they stayed in their tents and grumbled, they would not listen to Yahweh's voice.
26 Sai ivano fino al cielo si sprofondavano fino all'abisso; la loro anima si struggeva nel pericolo.	26 So he lifted his hand against them, to strike them down in the desert,
27 Erano sbigottiti e barcollavano come briachi, tutto il loro sapere era ridotto al niente.	27 to strike down their descendants among the nations, to scatter them al over the world.
28 Nella tribolazione gridarono al Signore, e li liberò dalle loro angustie.	28 They committed themselves to serve Baal-Peor, and ate sacrifices made to lifeless gods.
29 Mutò la tempesta in aura leggera, e i flutti del mare si tacquero:	29 They so provoked him by their actions that a plague broke out among them.
30 Si rallegrarono della loro calma, ed Egli li condusse al porto da loro bramato.	30 Then up stood Phinehas to intervene, and the plague was checked;
31 Celebrino il Signore le sue misericordie e le sue maraviglie in favore dei figli degli uomini.	31 for this he is the example of uprightness, from age to age for ever.
32 Lo esaltino nell'assemblea del popolo, lo lodino nel consesso degli anziani.	32 At the waters of Meribah they so angered Yahweh, that Moses suffered on their account,
33 Egli ridusse i fiumi a deserti, le sorgenti d'acqua in arida landa;	33 for they had embittered his spirit, and he spoke without due thought.
34 La terra fertile in campo di sale, per la malizia di chi vi abitava.	34 They did not destroy the nations, as Yahweh had told them to do,
35 Mutò i deserti in laghi, la terra arida in sorgenti d'acqua.	35 but intermarried with them, and adopted their ways.
36 E vi collocò gli affamati, che vi fondarono città da abitare.	36 They worshipped those nations' false gods, til they found themselves entrapped,
37 Seminaron campi e piantarono vigne e ne ebbero frutti copiosi.	37 and sacrificed their own sons and their daughters to demons.
38 Egli li benedisse, e moltiplicarono grandemente, e non la sciò diminuire i loro bestiami.	38 Innocent blood they shed, the blood of their sons and daughters; offering them to the idols ofCanaan, they pol uted the country with blood.
39 Sono stati ridotti a pochi, depressi dallo strazio del male e dal dolore.	39 They defiled themselves by such actions, their behaviour was that of a harlot.
40 Il disprezzo era gettato sopra i capi: li aveva fatti errare per un deserto senza via.	40 Yahweh's anger blazed out at his people, his own heritage fil ed him with disgust.
41 Ma Egli rialzò il povero dalla miseria, e ne moltiplicò le famiglie come greggi.	41 He handed them over to the nations, and their opponents became their masters;
42 Ciò vedranno i giusti e se ne rallegreranno, ed ogni iniquità chiuderà la sua bocca.	42 their enemies lorded it over them, crushing them under their rule.
43 Chi da sapiente terrà a mente queste cose e considererà le misericordie del Signore?	43 Time and again he rescued them, but they stil defied him deliberately, and sank ever deeper in theirguilt;
	44 even so he took pity on their distress, as soon as he heard them cry out.
	45 Bearing his covenant with them in mind, he relented in his boundless and faithful love;
	46 he ensured that they received compassion, in their treatment by al their captors.
	47 Save us, Yahweh our God, gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holyname, and may glory in praising you.
	48 Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, from all eternity and for ever! Let all the people say, 'Amen'.
