Siracide 34

BIBBIA RICCIOTTI	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Speranze vane e illusioni ha l'insipiente, e i sogni dan baldanza agl'insensati.	1 Empty and false are the hopes of the senseless, and fools are borne aloft by dreams.
2 Come chi agguanta un'ombra e corre dietro al vento, cosi chi bada a' sogni fallaci.	2 Like a man who catches at shadows or chases the wind, is the one who believes in dreams.
3 Cosa di fronte a cosa é la visione del sogno, [quale] l'immagine d'un uomo di fronte all'uomo.	3 What is seen in dreams is to reality what the reflection of a face is to the face itself.
4 Da [fonte] Impuro che potrà uscir di puro? e da ciò ch'è bugiardo che cosa s'avrà di vero?	4 Can the unclean produce the clean? can the liar ever speak the truth?
5 Divinazione falsa, auguri bugiardi e sogni di malvagi, son vanità, e come [il cuore] d'una partoriente va fantasticando il tuo cuore.	5 Divination, omens and dreams all are unreal; what you already expect, the mind depicts.
6 Salvo che [que' sogni] non sian mandati dal l'Altissimo, che ti visita, non por mente ad essi.	6 Unless it be a vision specially sent by the Most High, fix not your heart on it;
7 Molti invero furon tratti in errore da' sogni, e quel che ci speravano, rimaser delusi.	7 For dreams have led many astray, and those who believed in them have perished.
8 Senza Inganno [invece] si compie la parola della legge e la sapienza in bocca del fedele si appiana.	8 The law is fulfilled without fail, and perfect wisdom is found in the mouth of the faithful man.
9 Chi non è stato provato, che sa egli? L'uomo sperimentato in molte cose, sa molto, e chi ha imparato molto, ragiona con saggezza.	9 A man with training gains wide knowledge; a man of experience speaks sense.
10 Chi non ha provato, poco sa: ma chi è andato in qua e in là, ha molto accorgimento.	10 One never put to the proof knows little, whereas with travel a man adds to his resourcefulness.
11 Chi non è stato provato, che sa egli? ma chi è stato raggirato, abbonda in scaltrezza.	11 I have seen much in my travels, learned more than ever I could say.
12 Molte cose ho visto vagando qua e là, e il mio sapere va oltre le mie parole.	12 Often I was in danger of death, but by these attainments I was saved.
13 Talvolta fui persino in pericolo di morte, a cagione di ciò e fui salvo per la grazia di Dio.	13 Lively is the courage of those who fear the LORD, for they put their hope in their savior;
14 Lo spirito di quelli che temono il Signore vivrà e dallo sguardo di lui sarà benedetto.	14 He who fears the LORD is never alarmed, never afraid; for the LORD is his hope.
15 La speranza di loro è in colui che li salva, e gli occhi di Dio su quelli che lo amano.	15 Happy the soul that fears the LORD! In whom does he trust, and who is his support?
16 Chi teme il Signore non tremerà di nulla e non avrà paura perchè è egli la sua speranza.	16 The eyes of the LORD are upon those who love him; he is their mighty shield and strong support, A shelter from the heat, a shade from the noonday sun, a guard against stumbling, a help against falling.
17 Beata l'anima di chi teme il Signore!	17 He buoys up the spirits, brings a sparkle to the eyes, gives health and life and blessing.
18 a chi guarda egli e chi è il suo sostegno?	18 Tainted his gifts who offers in sacrifice ill-gotten goods! Mock presents from the lawless win not God's favor.
19 Gli occhi del Signore son sopra coloro che lo temono: egli è un protettore potente, un forte sostegno, un riparo contro il vento infocato [dell'Oriente] e uno schermo contro [il caldo] del mezzodì,	19 The Most High approves not the gifts of the godless, nor for their many sacrifices does he forgive their sins.
20 una salvaguardia dall'inciampare e un aiuto contro le cadute colui che innalza l'anima e illumina gli occhi che dà salute e vita e benedizione.	20 Like the man who slays a son in his father's presence is he who offers sacrifice from the possessions of the poor.
21 L'offerta di chi sacrifica cosa mal acquistata è immonda [e irrisoria], nè sono accette [a Dio] le irrisioni degli iniqui.	21 The bread of charity is life itself for the needy; he who withholds it is a man of blood.
22 Il Signore [è] solo per quelli che si mantengono nella via della verità e della giustizia.	22 He slays his neighbor who deprives him of his living: he sheds blood who denies the laborer his wages.
23 I doni degli empi non gradisce l'Altissimo, e non degna d'uno sguardo le offerte degl'iniqui, per molti che siano i loro sacrifizi, perdona i peccati.	23 If one man builds up and another tears down, what do they gain but trouble?
24 Chi offre un sacrifizio con la roba de' poveri, è come chi scanna un figliuolo sotto gli occhi del padre.	24 If one man prays and another curses, whose voice will the LORD hear?
25 Il pane de' bisognosi è la vita de' poveri: chi lo ruba è un assassino.	25 If a man again touches a corpse after he has bathed, what did he gain by the purification?
26 Chi toglie a uno il sudato pane, è come chi uccide il prossimo:	26 So with a man who fasts for his sins, but then goes and commits them again: Who will hear his prayer, and what has he gained by his mortification?
27 chi sparge il sangue e chi defrauda il mercenario son fratelli.
28 Uno fabbrica e l'altro distrugge: che ci guadagnano se non la fatica?
29 Uno prega e l'altro impreca: di chi ascolterà la voce il Signore?
30 Chi si lava a motivo d'un morto e [poi] novamente lo tocca a che giova la sua abluzione?
31 Cosi l'uomo che digiuna per i suoi peccati, e [poi] novamente commette le stesse cose:
32 che gli giova l'essersi umiliato, e chi ascolterà la sua preghiera?
