Unto the end. A Psalm to the sons of Korah. | 1 For the leader; "upon the gittith." A psalm of the Korahites. |
O Lord, you have blessed your land. You have turned aside the captivity of Jacob. | 2 How lovely your dwelling, O LORD of hosts! |
You have released the iniquity of your people. You have covered all their sins. | 3 My soul yearns and pines for the courts of the LORD. My heart and flesh cry out for the living God. |
You have mitigated all your wrath. You have turned aside from the wrath of your indignation. | 4 As the sparrow finds a home and the swallow a nest to settle her young, My home is by your altars, LORD of hosts, my king and my God! |
Convert us, O God, our Savior, and turn your anger away from us. | 5 Happy are those who dwell in your house! They never cease to praise you. Selah |
Will you be angry with us forever? And will you extend your wrath from generation to generation? | 6 Happy are those who find refuge in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrim roads. |
O God, you will turn back and revive us. And your people will rejoice in you. | 7 As they pass through the Baca valley, they find spring water to drink. Also from pools the Lord provides water for those who lose their way. |
O Lord, reveal to us your mercy, and grant to us your salvation. | 8 They pass through outer and inner wall and see the God of gods on Zion. |
I will listen to what the Lord God may be saying to me. For he will speak peace to his people, and to his saints, and to those who are being converted to the heart. | 9 LORD of hosts, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob. Selah |
So then, truly his salvation is near to those who fear him, so that glory may inhabit our land. | 10 O God, look kindly on our shield; look upon the face of your anointed. |
Mercy and truth have met each other. Justice and peace have kissed. | 11 Better one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. Better the threshold of the house of my God than a home in the tents of the wicked. |
Truth has risen from the earth, and justice has gazed down from heaven. | 12 For a sun and shield is the LORD God, bestowing all grace and glory. The LORD withholds no good thing from those who walk without reproach. |
For so will the Lord give goodness, and our earth will give her fruit. | 13 O LORD of hosts, happy are those who trust in you! |
Justice will walk before him, and he will set his steps upon the way. |
