1 Nemsokára átjutottak a tengeren túlra a gerázaiak földjére.	1 They reached the territory of the Gerasenes on the other side of the lake,
2 Amint kilépett a bárkából, mindjárt elébe ment egy ember a sírok közül, aki a tisztátalan lélek hatalmában volt	2 and when he disembarked, a man with an unclean spirit at once came out from the tombs towards him.
3 és sírboltokban lakott. Már láncokkal sem tudták megkötözni.	3 The man lived in the tombs and no one could secure him any more, even with a chain,
4 Sokszor béklyóba és láncra verték, de elszakította a láncokat, összetörte a bilincseket, és senki sem tudta őt megfékezni.	4 because he had often been secured with fetters and chains but had snapped the chains and broken thefetters, and no one had the strength to control him.
5 Éjjel-nappal mindig a sírboltokban és a hegyekben tanyázott, kiáltozott és kövekkel roncsolta magát.	5 All night and al day, among the tombs and in the mountains, he would howl and gash himself withstones.
6 Amikor messziről meglátta Jézust, odafutott, leborult előtte,	6 Catching sight of Jesus from a distance, he ran up and fel at his feet
7 és nagy hangon kiáltotta: »Mi közöm hozzád, Jézus, a magasságbeli Isten Fia? Az Istenre kényszerítlek, ne gyötörj engem!«	7 and shouted at the top of his voice, 'What do you want with me, Jesus, son of the Most High God? InGod's name do not torture me!'
8 Ő ugyanis azt mondta neki: »Tisztátalan lélek, menj ki az emberből!«	8 For Jesus had been saying to him, 'Come out of the man, unclean spirit.'
9 Ekkor megkérdezte tőle: »Mi a neved?« Az így válaszolt neki: »Légió a nevem, mert sokan vagyunk.«	9 Then he asked, 'What is your name?' He answered, 'My name is Legion, for there are many of us.'
10 És könyörögve kérte őt, hogy ne űzze ki arról a vidékről.	10 And he begged him earnestly not to send them out of the district.
11 Volt ott a hegy körül a legelőn egy nagy disznócsorda.	11 Now on the mountainside there was a great herd of pigs feeding,
12 Az ördögök azt kérték tőle: »Küldj minket a disznókba, hadd menjünk beléjük.«	12 and the unclean spirits begged him, 'Send us to the pigs, let us go into them.'
13 Jézus megengedte nekik. A tisztátalan lelkek kimentek és megszállták a disznókat. Erre a kétezernyi csorda a meredekről a tengerbe rohant, és belefulladt a tengerbe.	13 So he gave them leave. With that, the unclean spirits came out and went into the pigs, and the herd ofabout two thousand pigs charged down the cliff into the lake, and there they were drowned.
14 Akik legeltették őket, elfutottak, s hírül vitték ezt a városba és a falvakba. Az emberek kimentek, hogy lássák, mi történt.	14 The men looking after them ran off and told their story in the city and in the country round about; andthe people came to see what had real y happened.
15 Jézushoz érve látták, hogy az ördögseregtől megszállott felöltözve, ép ésszel ül, és félelem fogta el őket.	15 They came to Jesus and saw the demoniac sitting there -- the man who had had the legion in him --properly dressed and in his ful senses, and they were afraid.
16 A szemtanúk pedig elbeszélték nekik, hogy mi történt az ördöngössel és a disznókkal.	16 And those who had witnessed it reported what had happened to the demoniac and what had becomeof the pigs.
17 Ezért kérni kezdték őt, hogy távozzék el a határukból.	17 Then they began to implore Jesus to leave their neighbourhood.
18 Amikor beszállt a bárkába, az ember, aki megszállott volt, kérte őt, hogy vele mehessen.	18 As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed begged to be al owed to stay withhim.
19 De Jézus nem engedte meg neki, hanem így szólt: »Menj haza a tieidhez, és hirdesd nekik, milyen nagy dolgot művelt veled az Úr, és hogyan könyörült meg rajtad!«	19 Jesus would not let him but said to him, 'Go home to your people and tel them al that the Lord in hismercy has done for you.'
20 Az el is ment, és elkezdte hirdetni a Tízvárosban, hogy Jézus milyen nagy dolgot cselekedett vele. És mindenki csodálkozott.	20 So the man went off and proceeded to proclaim in the Decapolis al that Jesus had done for him. Andeveryone was amazed.
21 Amikor Jézus ismét áthajózott a túlsó partra, nagy tömeg gyülekezett oda köré, ahol ő a tó partján volt.	21 When Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered round him and hestayed by the lake.
22 Ekkor odajött hozzá egy zsinagóga-elöljáró, akit Jairusnak hívtak. Amikor meglátta őt, a lábaihoz borult,	22 Then the president of the synagogue came up, named Jairus, and seeing him, fel at his feet
23 és így esedezett hozzá: »A kislányom halálán van, jöjj, tedd rá kezedet, hogy meggyógyuljon és éljen!«	23 and begged him earnestly, saying, 'My little daughter is desperately sick. Do come and lay your handson her that she may be saved and may live.'
24 El is ment vele. Nagy tömeg követte és szorongatta.	24 Jesus went with him and a large crowd followed him; they were pressing al round him.
25 Egy asszony, aki tizenkét esztendő óta vérfolyásos volt,	25 Now there was a woman who had suffered from a haemorrhage for twelve years;
26 és sokat szenvedett a számtalan orvostól, elköltötte mindenét, de semmi hasznát nem látta, hanem még rosszabbul lett,	26 after long and painful treatment under various doctors, she had spent al she had without being anythe better for it; in fact, she was getting worse.
27 amint Jézusról hallott, hátulról odament a tömegben és megérintette a ruháját.	27 She had heard about Jesus, and she came up through the crowd and touched his cloak from behind,thinking,
28 Azt gondolta: »Ha csak a ruháját érintem is, meggyógyulok.«	28 'If I can just touch his clothes, I shal be saved.'
29 Valóban mindjárt megszűnt a vérfolyása, és érezte testében, hogy meggyógyult betegségétől.	29 And at once the source of the bleeding dried up, and she felt in herself that she was cured of hercomplaint.
30 De Jézus, aki azonnal észrevette, hogy erő ment ki belőle, a tömeghez fordult és megkérdezte: »Ki érintette meg a ruhámat?«	30 And at once aware of the power that had gone out from him, Jesus turned round in the crowd andsaid, 'Who touched my clothes?'
31 Tanítványai azt felelték neki: »Látod, hogy mennyire szorongat téged a tömeg, és mégis kérdezed, ki érintett engem?«	31 His disciples said to him, 'You see how the crowd is pressing round you; how can you ask, "Whotouched me?" '
32 Erre körültekintett, hogy lássa, ki volt az.	32 But he continued to look al round to see who had done it.
33 Az asszony pedig, aki tudta, hogy mi történt vele, félve és remegve előjött, leborult előtte, és őszintén elmondott neki mindent.	33 Then the woman came forward, frightened and trembling because she knew what had happened toher, and she fel at his feet and told him the whole truth.
34 Ő pedig ezt mondta neki: »Leányom! A hited meggyógyított téged. Menj békével, és légy mentes a bajodtól.«	34 'My daughter,' he said, 'your faith has restored you to health; go in peace and be free of yourcomplaint.'
35 Még beszélt, amikor jöttek a zsinagóga-elöljárótól, és azt mondták: »A lányod már meghalt. Minek fárasztanád tovább a Mestert?«	35 While he was stil speaking some people arrived from the house of the president of the synagogue tosay, 'Your daughter is dead; why put the Master to any further trouble?'
36 Jézus meghallotta, hogy mit mondtak, és így szólt a zsinagóga-elöljáróhoz: »Ne félj, csak higgy!«	36 But Jesus overheard what they said and he said to the president of the synagogue, 'Do not be afraid;only have faith.'
37 Nem engedte meg, hogy más vele menjen, csak Péter, Jakab és János, Jakab testvére.	37 And he allowed no one to go with him except Peter and James and John the brother of James.
38 Odaérkeztek a zsinagóga-elöljáró házához, ahol látta a tolongást, s a hevesen sírókat és jajgatókat.	38 So they came to the house of the president of the synagogue, and Jesus noticed al the commotion,with people weeping and wailing unrestrainedly.
39 Bement, és azt mondta nekik: »Miért zajongtok és sírtok? Nem halt meg a gyermek, csak alszik.«	39 He went in and said to them, 'Why all this commotion and crying? The child is not dead, but asleep.'
40 De azok kinevették. Ekkor elküldte onnan mindnyájukat, maga mellé vette a gyermek apját és anyját és a vele lévőket, és bement oda, ahol a gyermek feküdt.	40 But they ridiculed him. So he turned them al out and, taking with him the child's father and mother andhis own companions, he went into the place where the child lay.
41 Megfogta a gyermek kezét, és azt mondta neki: »Talíta, kúmi!« – ami azt jelenti: »Kislány, mondom neked, kelj fel!« –	41 And taking the child by the hand he said to her, 'Talitha kum!' which means, 'Little girl, I tel you to getup.'
42 A kislány azonnal fölkelt és járkálni kezdett. Tizenkét esztendős volt ugyanis. Mindenki nagyon csodálkozott.	42 The little girl got up at once and began to walk about, for she was twelve years old. At once they wereovercome with astonishment,
43 Ő pedig szigorúan megparancsolta nekik, hogy ezt senki meg ne tudja; majd szólt nekik, hogy adjanak a lánynak enni.	43 and he gave them strict orders not to let anyone know about it, and told them to give her something toeat.
