Proverbios 16

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 El hombre hace proyectos en su corazón, pero el Señor pone la respuesta en sus labios.	1 It is for man to prepare the soul, and for the Lord to govern the tongue.
2 El hombre piensa que todos sus caminos son puros, pero el Señor pesa los corazones.	2 All the ways of a man are open to his eyes; the Lord is the one who weighs spirits.
3 Encomienda tus obras al Señor, y se realizarán tus proyectos.	3 Open your works to the Lord, and your intentions will be set in order.
4 El Señor lo hizo todo con un fin, incluso al malvado, para el día nefasto.	4 The Lord has wrought all things because of himself. Likewise the impious is for the evil day.
5 El corazón altanero es abominable para el Señor, tarde o temprano no quedará impune.	5 All the arrogant are an abomination to the Lord. Even if hand will be joined to hand, he is not innocent. The beginning of a good way is to do justice. And this is more acceptable with God than to immolate sacrifices.
6 Por la bondad y la fidelidad se expían las faltas, y con el temor del Señor se evita el mal.	6 By mercy and truth, iniquity is redeemed. And by the fear of the Lord, one turns away from evil.
7 Cuando el Señor se complace en la conducta de un hombre, lo reconcilia hasta con sus mismos enemigos.	7 When the ways of man will please the Lord, he will convert even his enemies to peace.
8 Más vale poco con justicia que abundantes ganancias con injusticia.	8 Better is a little with justice, than many fruits with iniquity.
9 El corazón del hombre se fija un trayecto, pero el Señor asegura sus pasos.	9 The heart of man disposes his way. But it is for Lord to direct his steps.
10 Hay un oráculo en los labios del rey: él no se equivoca cuando dicta sentencia.	10 Foreknowledge is in the lips of the king. His mouth shall not err in judgment.
11 La báscula y las balanzas justas pertenecen al Señor, y son obra suya todas las pesas de la bolsa.	11 Weights and scales are judgments of the Lord. And all the stones in the bag are his work.
12 El rey aborrece las malas acciones, porque un trono se afianza gracias a la justicia.	12 Those who act impiously are abominable to the king. For the throne is made firm by justice.
13 Los labios justos gozan del favor del rey: él ama al que habla con rectitud.	13 Just lips are the will of kings. He who speaks honestly shall be loved.
14 El furor del rey es mensajero de muerte, pero un hombre sabio lo aplaca.	14 The indignation of a king is a herald of death. And the wise man will appease it.
15 Cuando el resto del rey está radiante, hay vida, y su favor es como lluvia de primavera.	15 In the cheerfulness of the king’s countenance, there is life. And his clemency is like belated rain.
16 Adquirir sabiduría vale más que el oro fino, adquirir inteligencia es preferible a la plata.	16 Possess wisdom, for it is better than gold. And acquire prudence, for it is more precious than silver.
17 La senda de los hombres rectos es apartarse del mal, el que vigila su camino preserva su vida.	17 The path of the just turns away from evils. He who guards his soul preserves his way.
18 Antes de la catástrofe está el orgullo, y antes de la caída, el espíritu altanero.	18 Arrogance precedes destruction. And the spirit is exalted before a fall.
19 Más vale ser humilde entre los pobres que repartir el botín con los orgullosos.	19 It is better to be humbled with the meek, than to divide spoils with the arrogant.
20 El que está atento a la palabra encontrará la dicha, y ¡feliz el que confía en el Señor!	20 The learned in word shall find good things. And whoever hopes in the Lord is blessed.
21 El que sabe discernir tiene fama de inteligente, y las palabras dulces son más persuasivas.	21 Whoever is wise in heart shall be called prudent. And whoever is sweet in eloquence shall attain to what is greater.
22 El buen juicio es fuente de vida para el que lo posee, pero la necedad es el castigo de los necios.	22 Learning is a fountain of life to one who possesses it. The doctrine of the foolish is senseless.
23 El corazón del sabio da sensatez a su boca y hace más persuasivas sus palabras.	23 The heart of the wise shall instruct his mouth and add grace to his lips.
24 Las palabras amables son un panal de miel, dulce al paladar y saludable para el cuerpo.	24 Careful words are a honeycomb: sweet to the soul and healthful to the bones.
25 Hay caminos que parecen rectos, pero al final son caminos de muerte.	25 There is a way which seems right to a man, and its end result leads to death.
26 El hambre del trabajador trabaja para él, porque su boca lo estimula.	26 The soul of the laborer labors for himself, because his mouth has driven him to it.
27 El hombre infame cava la desgracia, y en sus labios hay como un fuego devorador.	27 The impious man digs up evil, and in his lips is a burning fire.
28 El hombre perverso siembra discordia, y el calumniador separa a los amigos.	28 A perverse man stirs up lawsuits. And one who is verbose divides leaders.
29 El hombre violento seduce a su prójimo para llevarlo por el mal camino.	29 A man of iniquity entices his friend, and he leads him along a way that is not good.
30 El que cierra los ojos, maquinando cosas perversas, y aprieta los labios, ya ha cometido el mal.	30 Whoever, with astonished eyes, thinks up depravities, biting his lips, accomplishes evil.
31 Corona de gloria son los cabellos blancos, y se la encuentra en el camino de la justicia.	31 Old age is a crown of dignity, when it is found in the ways of justice.
32 El que tarda en enojarse vale más que un héroe, y el dueño de sí mismo, más que un conquistador.	32 A patient man is better than a strong one. And whoever rules his soul is better than one who assaults cities.
33 Las suertes se echan en los pliegues del manto, pero la decisión viene del Señor.	33 Lots are cast into the lap, but they are tempered by the Lord.
