Proverbios 16

EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El hombre hace proyectos en su corazón, pero el Señor pone la respuesta en sus labios.	1 A human heart makes the plans, Yahweh gives the answer.
2 El hombre piensa que todos sus caminos son puros, pero el Señor pesa los corazones.	2 A person's own acts seem right to the doer, but Yahweh is the weigher of souls.
3 Encomienda tus obras al Señor, y se realizarán tus proyectos.	3 Commend what you do to Yahweh, and what you plan wil be achieved.
4 El Señor lo hizo todo con un fin, incluso al malvado, para el día nefasto.	4 Yahweh made everything for its own purpose, yes, even the wicked for the day of disaster.
5 El corazón altanero es abominable para el Señor, tarde o temprano no quedará impune.	5 Every arrogant heart is abhorrent to Yahweh: be sure this wil not go unpunished.
6 Por la bondad y la fidelidad se expían las faltas, y con el temor del Señor se evita el mal.	6 By faithful love and constancy sin is expiated; by fear of Yahweh evil is avoided.
7 Cuando el Señor se complace en la conducta de un hombre, lo reconcilia hasta con sus mismos enemigos.	7 Let Yahweh be pleased with someone's way of life and he makes that person's very enemies intofriends.
8 Más vale poco con justicia que abundantes ganancias con injusticia.	8 Better have little and with it uprightness than great revenues with injustice.
9 El corazón del hombre se fija un trayecto, pero el Señor asegura sus pasos.	9 The human heart may plan a course, but it is Yahweh who makes the steps secure.
10 Hay un oráculo en los labios del rey: él no se equivoca cuando dicta sentencia.	10 The lips of the king utter prophecies, he keeps faith when he speaks in judgement.
11 La báscula y las balanzas justas pertenecen al Señor, y son obra suya todas las pesas de la bolsa.	11 The balances and scales belong to Yahweh, al the weights in the bag are of his making.
12 El rey aborrece las malas acciones, porque un trono se afianza gracias a la justicia.	12 Evil-doing is abhorrent to kings, since uprightness is a throne's foundation.
13 Los labios justos gozan del favor del rey: él ama al que habla con rectitud.	13 Upright lips are welcome to a king, he loves someone of honest words.
14 El furor del rey es mensajero de muerte, pero un hombre sabio lo aplaca.	14 The king's wrath is the herald of death, but the wise will appease it.
15 Cuando el resto del rey está radiante, hay vida, y su favor es como lluvia de primavera.	15 When the king's face brightens it spel s life, his favour is like the rain in spring.
16 Adquirir sabiduría vale más que el oro fino, adquirir inteligencia es preferible a la plata.	16 Better gain wisdom than gold, choose understanding in preference to silver.
17 La senda de los hombres rectos es apartarse del mal, el que vigila su camino preserva su vida.	17 To turn from evil is the way of the honest; whoever watches the path keeps life safe.
18 Antes de la catástrofe está el orgullo, y antes de la caída, el espíritu altanero.	18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fal .
19 Más vale ser humilde entre los pobres que repartir el botín con los orgullosos.	19 Better be humble with the poor than share the booty with the proud.
20 El que está atento a la palabra encontrará la dicha, y ¡feliz el que confía en el Señor!	20 Whoever listens closely to the word finds happiness; whoever trusts Yahweh is blessed.
21 El que sabe discernir tiene fama de inteligente, y las palabras dulces son más persuasivas.	21 The wise of heart is acclaimed as intel igent, sweetness of speech increases knowledge.
22 El buen juicio es fuente de vida para el que lo posee, pero la necedad es el castigo de los necios.	22 Shrewdness is a fountain of life for its possessor, the fol y of fools is their own punishment.
23 El corazón del sabio da sensatez a su boca y hace más persuasivas sus palabras.	23 The heart of the wise lends shrewdness to speech and makes words more persuasive.
24 Las palabras amables son un panal de miel, dulce al paladar y saludable para el cuerpo.	24 Kindly words are a honeycomb, sweet to the taste, wholesome to the body.
25 Hay caminos que parecen rectos, pero al final son caminos de muerte.	25 There is a way that some think straight, but it leads in the end to death.
26 El hambre del trabajador trabaja para él, porque su boca lo estimula.	26 A worker's appetite works on his behalf, for his hunger urges him on.
27 El hombre infame cava la desgracia, y en sus labios hay como un fuego devorador.	27 A worthless person concocts evil, such a one's talk is like a scorching fire.
28 El hombre perverso siembra discordia, y el calumniador separa a los amigos.	28 A troublemaker sows strife, a slanderer divides friend from friend.
29 El hombre violento seduce a su prójimo para llevarlo por el mal camino.	29 The violent lures his neighbour astray and leads him by a way that is not good.
30 El que cierra los ojos, maquinando cosas perversas, y aprieta los labios, ya ha cometido el mal.	30 Whoever narrows the eyes to think up tricks and purses the lips has already done wrong.
31 Corona de gloria son los cabellos blancos, y se la encuentra en el camino de la justicia.	31 White hairs are a crown of honour, they are found in the ways of uprightness.
32 El que tarda en enojarse vale más que un héroe, y el dueño de sí mismo, más que un conquistador.	32 Better an equable person than a hero, someone with self-mastery than one who takes a city.
33 Las suertes se echan en los pliegues del manto, pero la decisión viene del Señor.	33 In the fold of the garment the lot is thrown, but from Yahweh comes the decision.
