υπολαβων δε βαλδαδ ο σαυχιτης λεγει1 But Baldad the Suhite responded by saying:
μεχρι τινος ου παυση επισχες ινα και αυτοι λαλησωμεν2 How long will you throw around words? Understand first, and then let us speak.
δια τι ωσπερ τετραποδα σεσιωπηκαμεν εναντιον σου3 Why have we been treated like mules, as if we were unworthy before you?
κεχρηται σοι οργη τι γαρ εαν συ αποθανης αοικητος η υπ' ουρανον η καταστραφησεται ορη εκ θεμελιων4 You, who ruins your own soul in your fury, will the earth be forsaken because of you, and will the cliffs be moved from their place?
και φως ασεβων σβεσθησεται και ουκ αποβησεται αυτων η φλοξ5 Will not the light of the impious be put out, and the flame of his fire refuse to shine?
το φως αυτου σκοτος εν διαιτη ο δε λυχνος επ' αυτω σβεσθησεται6 Light will become darkness in his tabernacle, and the lamp that is over him will be extinguished.
θηρευσαισαν ελαχιστοι τα υπαρχοντα αυτου σφαλαι δε αυτου η βουλη7 His strong steps will be constrained, and his own counsel will cast him down uncontrollably.
εμβεβληται δε ο πους αυτου εν παγιδι εν δικτυω ελιχθειη8 For he has caused his own feet to go into a net, and he has walked into its web.
ελθοισαν δε επ' αυτον παγιδες κατισχυσει επ' αυτον διψωντας9 His heel will be held in a snare, and thirst will rage against him.
κεκρυπται εν τη γη σχοινιον αυτου και η συλλημψις αυτου επι τριβων10 A trap has been hidden for him in the earth, and a decoy, along his path.
κυκλω ολεσαισαν αυτον οδυναι πολλοι δε περι ποδας αυτου ελθοισαν εν λιμω στενω11 Horrifying things will terrify him everywhere and will entangle his feet.
πτωμα δε αυτω ητοιμασται εξαισιον12 Let his strength be diminished by famine, and let starvation invade his ribs.
βρωθειησαν αυτου κλωνες ποδων κατεδεται δε τα ωραια αυτου θανατος13 Let it devour the beauty of his skin; let the ancient death consume his arms.
εκραγειη δε εκ διαιτης αυτου ιασις σχοιη δε αυτον αναγκη αιτια βασιλικη14 Let his confidence be torn away from his tabernacle, and let ruin trample over him like a king.
κατασκηνωσει εν τη σκηνη αυτου εν νυκτι αυτου κατασπαρησονται τα ευπρεπη αυτου θειω15 Let the companions of he who is not, dwell in his tabernacle; let brimstone rain down upon his tabernacle.
υποκατωθεν αι ριζαι αυτου ξηρανθησονται και επανωθεν επιπεσειται θερισμος αυτου16 Let his roots be dried up from beneath him, and his harvest be crushed from above.
το μνημοσυνον αυτου απολοιτο εκ γης και υπαρχει ονομα αυτω επι προσωπον εξωτερω17 Let the memory of him perish from the earth, and let not his name be celebrated in the streets.
απωσειεν αυτον εκ φωτος εις σκοτος18 He will expel him from light into darkness, and he will remove him from the world.
ουκ εσται επιγνωστος εν λαω αυτου ουδε σεσωσμενος εν τη υπ' ουρανον ο οικος αυτου αλλ' εν τοις αυτου ζησονται ετεροι19 Neither his offspring, nor his descendents, will exist among his people, nor will there be any remnants in his country.
επ' αυτω εστεναξαν εσχατοι πρωτους δε εσχεν θαυμα20 The last will be astonished at his day, and the first will be overcome with horror.
ουτοι εισιν οικοι αδικων ουτος δε ο τοπος των μη ειδοτων τον κυριον21 And so, these are the tabernacles of the sinful, and this the place of he who does not know God.
