LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Di Davide. Scendi in giudizio, o Signore, contro quelli che mi accusano; combatti contro quelli che mi avversano.	1 Of David. Oppose, LORD, those who oppose me; war upon those who make war upon me.
2 Impugna lo scudo e la corazza e sorgi in mia difesa.	2 Take up the shield and buckler; rise up in my defense.
3 Brandisci la lancia e sbarra il passo di fronte a quelli che m'inseguono. Di' all'anima mia: "Sono io la tua salvezza!".	3 Brandish lance and battle-ax against my pursuers. Say to my heart, "I am your salvation."
4 Restino confusi e coperti di vergogna quelli che cercano l'anima mia; indietreggino disfatti quanti tramano la mia rovina.	4 Let those who seek my life be put to shame and disgrace. Let those who plot evil against me be turned back and confounded.
5 Siano come pula davanti al vento, scacciati dall'angelo del Signore.	5 Make them like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the LORD driving them on.
6 Tenebrosa e scivolosa sia la loro via, incalzati dall'angelo del Signore.	6 Make their way slippery and dark, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.
7 Poiché senza motivo la loro rete hanno teso per me, senza motivo la fossa hanno scavato per l'anima mia.	7 Without cause they set their snare for me; without cause they dug a pit for me.
8 Rovina inattesa lo colga, la rete che egli ha teso lo prenda, cada in essa con rovina.	8 Let ruin overtake them unawares; let the snare they have set catch them; let them fall into the pit they have dug.
9 Ma l'anima mia esulterà nel Signore, giubilerà della sua salvezza.	9 Then I will rejoice in the LORD, exult in God's salvation.
10 Tutte le mie ossa diranno: "Chi è come te, o Signore, che liberi il misero da chi è più forte di lui, e il povero da colui che lo rapina?".	10 My very bones shall say, "O LORD, who is like you, Who rescue the afflicted from the powerful, the afflicted and needy from the despoiler?"
11 Stanno sorgendo testimoni di nequizia, mi chiedono conto di ciò che ignoro;	11 Malicious witnesses come forward, accuse me of things I do not know.
12 mi ripagano con il male in luogo del bene. Desolazione per l'anima mia!	12 They repay me evil for good and I am all alone.
13 Io, invece, nella loro infermità mi vestivo di sacco, affliggevo nel digiuno l'anima mia, echeggiava nel mio seno la mia preghiera	13 Yet I, when they were ill, put on sackcloth, afflicted myself with fasting, sobbed my prayers upon my bosom.
14 come per un compagno, come per un fratello. Sono andato in giro come chi è in lutto per la propria madre, triste, a capo chino.	14 I went about in grief as for my brother, bent in mourning as for my mother.
15 Ma al mio vacillare hanno gioito e si son radunati, contro di me si son radunati; stranieri che non conoscevo hanno fatto scempio di me senza sosta.	15 Yet when I stumbled they gathered with glee, gathered against me like strangers. They slandered me without ceasing;
16 Mi tentano, mi deridono, digrignando contro di me i loro denti.	16 without respect they mocked me, gnashed their teeth against me.
17 Fino a quando, o Signore, rimarrai a guardare? Strappa la mia anima da belve ruggenti, da leoncelli me desolato.	17 Lord, how long will you look on? Save me from roaring beasts, my precious life from lions!
18 Ti celebrerò nella grande assemblea, e ti loderò fra popolo numeroso.	18 Then I will thank you in the great assembly; I will praise you before the mighty throng.
19 Non si rallegrino su di me i miei nemici menzogneri e non strizzino l'occhio quanti mi odiano senza ragione.	19 Do not let lying foes smirk at me, my undeserved enemies wink knowingly.
20 Sì, essi non parlano di pace e contro i pacifici della terra piani di perfidia essi stanno tramando;	20 They speak no words of peace, but against the quiet in the land they fashion deceitful speech.
21 spalancano contro di me la loro bocca e dicono: "Ah, ah! Ha visto il nostro occhio".	21 They open wide their mouths against me. They say, "Aha! Good! Our eyes relish the sight!"
22 Tu hai visto, o Signore, non restartene muto; o Signore, non rimanere lontano da me.	22 You see this, LORD; do not be silent; Lord, do not withdraw from me.
23 Déstati, mio Dio, per il mio giudizio; sorgi, o Signore, per la mia causa.	23 Awake, be vigilant in my defense, in my cause, my God and my Lord.
24 Giudicami secondo la mia giustizia, o Signore mio Dio. Non si rallegrino su di me.	24 Defend me because you are just, LORD; my God, do not let them gloat over me.
25 Non dicano nei loro cuori: "E' questa la nostra brama!". Non dicano: "L'abbiamo sopraffatto!".	25 Do not let them say in their hearts, "Aha! Just what we wanted!" Do not let them say, "We have devoured that one!"
26 Siano confusi tutti insieme e coperti di vergogna quanti s'allietano del mio male; di rossore si vestano e d'ignominia quanti su di me s'insuperbiscono.	26 Put to shame and confound all who relish my misfortune. Clothe with shame and disgrace those who lord it over me.
27 Giubilino e si rallegrino invece quelli che amano la mia giustizia; possano dire sempre: "Sia magnificato il Signore che si prende cura della pace del suo servo!".	27 But let those who favor my just cause shout for joy and be glad. May they ever say, "Exalted be the LORD who delights in the peace of his loyal servant."
28 La mia lingua proclamerà la tua giustizia, tutto il giorno la tua lode.	28 Then my tongue shall recount your justice, declare your praise, all the day long.
