1 Salmo di David. Sulle rive de' fiumi di Babilonia ivi sedemmo, e piangemmo in ricordandoci di te, o Sionne:	1 A Psalm of David: to Jeremiah. Above the rivers of Babylon, there we sat and wept, while we remembered Zion.
2 Ai salci appendemmo in mezzo a lei i nostri strumenti.	2 By the willow trees, in their midst, we hung up our instruments.
3 Perché ivi domandarono a noi quelli, che ci avevano menati schiavi, le parole de' nostri cantici:	3 For, in that place, those who led us into captivity questioned us about the words of the songs. And those who carried us away said: “Sing us a hymn from the songs of Zion.”
4 E coloro, che ci avevano rapiti dissero: cantate a noi un inno di que', che si cantano in Sionne:	4 How can we sing a song of the Lord in a foreign land?
5 E come mai canteremo un cantico del Signore in una terra straniera?	5 If I ever forget you, Jerusalem, let my right hand be forgotten.
6 Se io mi dimenticherò di te, o Gerusalemme, sia messa in oblìo la mia destra.	6 May my tongue adhere to my jaws, if I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem first, as the beginning of my joy.
7 Si attacchi la mia lingua alle mie fauci, se io non avrò memoria di te:	7 O Lord, call to mind the sons of Edom, in the day of Jerusalem, who say: “Despoil it, despoil it, even to its foundation.”
8 Se io non metterò Gerusalemme ai di sopra di qualunque mia allegrezza.	8 O daughter of Babylon, have pity. Blessed is he who will repay you with your payment, which you have paid to us.
9 Ricorditi, o Signore, de' figliuoli di Edom, i quali nel giorno di Gerusalemme	9 Blessed is he who will take hold of your little ones and dash them against the rock.
10 Dicevano: Distruggete, distruggete fino a' suoi fondamenti.
11 Figliuola infelice di Babilonia: beato colui, che farà a te quello, che tu hai fatto a noi.
12 Beato colui; che prenderà, e infrangerà sulle pietre i tuoi figliuolini.
