Levitico 26

1 "Non vi farete idoli, né vi erigerete immagini scolpite o stele, né permetterete che nel vostro paese vi sia pietra ornata di figure, per prostrarvi davanti ad essa; poiché io sono il Signore vostro Dio.	1 ' "You wil not make idols for yourselves; you will not erect statues or cultic stones, or erect carvedstones in your country, for you to worship: for I, Yahweh, am your God.
2 Osserverete i miei sabati e porterete rispetto al mio santuario. Io sono il Signore.	2 You will keep my Sabbaths and revere my sanctuary. I am Yahweh.
3 Se seguirete le mie leggi, se osserverete i miei comandi e li metterete in pratica,	3 "If you live according to my laws, if you keep my commandments and put them into practice,
4 io vi darò le piogge alla loro stagione, la terra darà prodotti e gli alberi della campagna daranno frutti.	4 I shal give you the rain you need at the right time; the soil wil yield its produce and the trees of thecountryside their fruit;
5 La trebbiatura durerà per voi fino alla vendemmia e la vendemmia durerà fino alla semina; avrete cibo a sazietà e abiterete tranquilli il vostro paese.	5 you wil thresh until vintage time and gather grapes until sowing time. You wil eat your fill of bread andlive secure in your land.
6 Io stabilirò la pace nel paese; nessuno vi incuterà terrore; vi coricherete e farò sparire dal paese le bestie nocive e la spada non passerà per il vostro paese.	6 "I shall give peace in the land, and you wil go to sleep with no one to frighten you. I shal rid the land of beasts of prey. The sword wil not pass through your land.
7 Voi inseguirete i vostri nemici ed essi cadranno dinanzi a voi colpiti di spada.	7 You will pursue your enemies and they wil fal before your sword;
8 Cinque di voi ne inseguiranno cento, cento di voi ne inseguiranno diecimila e i vostri nemici cadranno dinanzi a voi colpiti di spada.	8 five of you pursuing a hundred of them, one hundred pursuing ten thousand; and your enemies wil falbefore your sword.
9 Io mi volgerò a voi, vi renderò fecondi e vi moltiplicherò e confermerò la mia alleanza con voi.	9 "I shall turn towards you, I shal make you fertile and make your numbers grow, and I shal uphold mycovenant with you.
10 Voi mangerete del vecchio raccolto, serbato a lungo, e dovrete metter via il raccolto vecchio per far posto al nuovo.	10 "Having eaten al you need of last year's harvest, you will throw out the old to make room for the new.
11 Stabilirò la mia dimora in mezzo a voi e io non vi respingerò.	11 "I shal fix my home among you and never reject you.
12 Camminerò in mezzo a voi, sarò vostro Dio e voi sarete il mio popolo.	12 I shall live among you; I shall be your God and you will be my people,
13 Io sono il Signore vostro Dio, che vi ho fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto; ho spezzato il vostro giogo e vi ho fatto camminare a testa alta.	13 I, Yahweh your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you should be their slaves no longer, andwho broke the bonds of your yoke and made you walk with head held high.
14 Ma se non mi ascolterete e se non metterete in pratica tutti questi comandi,	14 "But if you wil not listen to me and do not put all these commandments into practice,
15 se disprezzerete le mie leggi e rigetterete le mie prescrizioni, non mettendo in pratica tutti i miei comandi e infrangendo la mia alleanza,	15 if you reject my laws and detest my customs, and you break my covenant by not putting al mycommandments into practice,
16 ecco che cosa farò a voi a mia volta: manderò contro di voi il terrore, la consunzione e la febbre, che vi faranno languire gli occhi e vi consumeranno la vita. Seminerete invano il vostro seme: se lo mangeranno i vostri nemici.	16 this is how I shal treat you: "I shal subject you to terror, consumption and fever, making you dim ofsight and short of breath. You wil sow your seed in vain, for your enemies wil eat it.
17 Volgerò la faccia contro di voi e voi sarete sconfitti dai nemici; quelli che vi odiano vi opprimeranno e vi darete alla fuga, senza che alcuno vi insegua.	17 I shall turn against you and you wil be defeated by your enemies. Your foes wil have the masteryover you, and you wil flee when no one is pursuing you.
18 Se nemmeno dopo questo mi ascolterete, io vi castigherò sette volte di più per i vostri peccati.	18 "And if, in spite of this, you will not listen to me, I shal punish you seven times over for your sins.
19 Spezzerò la vostra forza superba, renderò il vostro cielo come ferro e la vostra terra come rame.	19 I shall break your proud strength. I shal make the sky like iron for you, and your soil like bronze.
20 Le vostre energie si consumeranno invano, poiché la vostra terra non darà prodotti e gli alberi della campagna non daranno frutti.	20 You wil wear out your strength in vain, your land will not yield its produce, nor the trees of the countrytheir fruit.
21 Se vi opporrete a me e non mi ascolterete, io vi colpirò sette volte di più, secondo i vostri peccati.	21 "And if you go against me and wil not listen to me, I shall heap seven times more plagues on you foryour sins.
22 Manderò contro di voi le bestie selvatiche, che vi rapiranno i figli, stermineranno il vostro bestiame, vi ridurranno a un piccolo numero e le vostre strade diventeranno deserte.	22 I shall send wild animals to attack you and rob you of your children, destroy your cattle and reduceyour numbers until your roads are deserted.
23 Se nonostante questi castighi, non vorrete correggervi per tornare a me, ma vi opporrete a me, anch'io mi opporrò a voi	23 "And if that does not reform you, and you stil go against me,
24 e vi colpirò sette volte di più per i vostri peccati.	24 then I shal go against you and punish you another seven times over for your sins.
25 Manderò contro di voi la spada, vindice della mia alleanza; voi vi raccoglierete nelle vostre città, ma io manderò in mezzo a voi la peste e sarete dati in mano al nemico.	25 I shall bring the sword on you, which will avenge the covenant, and when you huddle inside yourtowns, I shal send pestilence among you, and you will fal into the enemy's clutches.
26 Quando io avrò spezzato le riserve del pane, dieci donne faranno cuocere il vostro pane in uno stesso forno, ve lo riporteranno a peso e mangerete, ma non vi sazierete.	26 When I take away the bread which supports you, ten women wil be able to bake your bread in oneoven and wil then dole your bread out by weight; you wil eat but not be satisfied.
27 Se, nonostante tutto questo, non vorrete darmi ascolto, ma vi opporrete a me,	27 "And if, in spite of this, you will not listen to me but go against me,
28 anch'io mi opporrò a voi con furore e vi castigherò sette volte di più per i vostri peccati.	28 I shall go against you in fury and punish you seven times over for your sins.
29 Mangerete perfino la carne dei vostri figli e mangerete la carne delle vostre figlie.	29 You wil eat the flesh of your own sons, you wil eat the flesh of your own daughters.
30 Devasterò le vostre alture di culto, distruggerò i vostri altari per l'incenso, butterò i vostri cadaveri sui cadaveri dei vostri idoli e io vi avrò in abominio.	30 I shall destroy your high places and smash your incense-altars; I shal pile your corpses on thecorpses of your foul idols and shall reject you.
31 Ridurrò le vostre città a deserti, devasterò i vostri santuari e non aspirerò più il profumo dei vostri incensi.	31 I shall reduce your cities to ruins; I shal lay waste your sanctuary and refuse to inhale from yousmel s intended to please.
32 Devasterò io stesso il vostro paese e i vostri nemici, che vi prenderanno dimora, ne saranno stupefatti.	32 I shall make such a desolation of the country that your enemies who come to live there wil beappal ed by it.
33 Quanto a voi, vi disperderò fra le nazioni e vi inseguirò con la spada sguainata; il vostro paese sarà desolato e le vostre città saranno deserte.	33 And I shal scatter you among the nations. I shal unsheathe the sword against you, reducing yourcountry to desert and your towns to ruins.
34 Allora la terra godrà i suoi sabati per tutto il tempo in cui rimarrà desolata e voi sarete nel paese dei vostri nemici; allora la terra si riposerà e si compenserà dei suoi sabati.	34 Then the country wil indeed observe its Sabbaths, al the while it lies deserted, while you are in thecountry of your enemies. Then indeed the country wil rest and observe its Sabbaths.
35 Finché rimarrà desolata, avrà il riposo che non le fu concesso da voi con i sabati, quando l'abitavate.	35 And as it lies deserted it will rest, as it never did on your Sabbaths when you were living there.
36 A quelli che fra di voi saranno superstiti infonderò nel cuore costernazione, nel paese dei loro nemici: il fruscìo di una foglia agitata li metterà in fuga; fuggiranno come si fugge di fronte alla spada e cadranno senza che alcuno li insegua.	36 I shall strike such fear into the hearts of those of you who survive in the countries of their enemiesthat the sound of a fal ing leaf will set them fleeing; they wil flee as though fleeing from the sword, and fal whenno one is pursuing.
37 Precipiteranno uno sopra l'altro come di fronte alla spada, senza che alcuno li insegua. Non potrete resistere dinanzi ai vostri nemici.	37 They will stumble over one another as though fleeing before the sword, when no one is pursuing. You wil be powerless to stand up to your enemies;
38 Perirete fra le nazioni: il paese dei vostri nemici vi divorerà.	38 you wil perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies wil swal ow you up.
39 Quelli che tra di voi saranno superstiti nei paesi dei loro nemici, si consumeranno a causa delle proprie iniquità; anche a causa delle iniquità dei loro padri periranno.	39 Those of you who survive wil pine away in their guilt in the countries of their enemies and, bearingthe guilt of their ancestors too, wil pine away like them.
40 Dovranno confessare la loro iniquità e l'iniquità dei loro padri: per essere stati infedeli nei miei riguardi ed essersi opposti a me;	40 "Then they shal admit their guilt and that of their ancestors and their infidelities against me, andfurther, their setting themselves against me.
41 peccati per i quali anche io mi sono opposto a loro e li ho deportati nel paese dei loro nemici. Allora il loro cuore non circonciso si umilierà e allora sconteranno la loro colpa.	41 "I in my turn wil go against them and bring them into the land of their enemies. Then theiruncircumcised hearts wil grow humble and then they wil accept the punishment for their guilt.
42 Io mi ricorderò della mia alleanza con Giacobbe, dell'alleanza con Isacco e dell'alleanza con Abramo e mi ricorderò del paese.	42 I shall remember my covenant with Jacob, I shal remember my covenant with Isaac and mycovenant with Abraham; and I shal remember the country too.
43 Quando dunque il paese sarà abbandonato da loro e godrà i suoi sabati, mentre rimarrà deserto, senza di loro, essi sconteranno la loro colpa, per avere disprezzato le mie prescrizioni ed essersi stancati delle mie leggi.	43 "Abandoned, the country wil keep its Sabbaths, as it lies deserted in their absence, and they wilhave to accept the punishment for their guilt, since they detested my customs and rejected my laws.
44 Nonostante tutto questo, quando saranno nel paese dei loro nemici, io non li rigetterò e non mi stancherò di essi fino al punto d'annientarli del tutto e di rompere la mia alleanza con loro; poiché io sono il Signore loro Dio;	44 "Yet, in spite of al this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I shall not so utterly reject ordetest them as to destroy them completely and break my covenant with them; for I am Yahweh their God.
45 ma per loro amore mi ricorderò dell'alleanza con i loro antenati, che ho fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto davanti alle nazioni, per essere il loro Dio. Io sono il Signore".	45 For their sake I shall remember the covenant I made with those first generations that I brought out ofEgypt while other nations watched, so that I should be their God, I, Yahweh." '
46 Questi sono gli statuti, le prescrizioni e le leggi che il Signore stabilì fra sé e gli Israeliti, sul monte Sinai, per mezzo di Mosè.	46 Such were the decrees, customs and laws which Yahweh established between himself and theIsraelites on Mount Sinai through Moses.
