BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Ezechia mandò messaggeri per tutto Israele e Giuda e scrisse anche lettere a Èfraim e a Manàsse per convocare tutti nel tempio in Gerusalemme a celebrare la pasqua per il Signore Dio di Israele.	1 Hezekiah sent messengers to al Israel and Judah, and also wrote letters to Ephraim and Manasseh,bidding them come to the Temple of Yahweh in Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover in honour of Yahweh, Godof Israel.
2 Il re, i suoi ufficiali e tutta l'assemblea di Gerusalemme decisero di celebrare la pasqua nel secondo mese,	2 For the king and his officials and the whole congregation in Jerusalem had agreed to celebrate thePassover in the second month,
3 perché non avevano potuto celebrarla nel tempo fissato per il fatto che i sacerdoti non si erano purificati in numero sufficiente e il popolo non si era radunato in Gerusalemme.	3 having been unable to celebrate it at the proper time, since the priests had not purified themselves insufficient number, and the people were not assembled in Jerusalem.
4 La proposta piacque al re e a tutta l'assemblea.	4 And since this arrangement seemed fitting to the king and the whole congregation,
5 Stabilirono di proclamare con bando in tutto Israele, da Bersabea a Dan, che tutti venissero a celebrare in Gerusalemme la pasqua per il Signore Dio di Israele, perché molti non avevano osservato le norme prescritte.	5 they resolved to send a proclamation throughout Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, cal ing on the peopleto come to Jerusalem and celebrate a Passover in honour of Yahweh, God of Israel, since they had notcelebrated it in a body as prescribed.
6 Partirono i corrieri con lettere da parte del re e dei suoi ufficiali per recarsi in tutto Israele e Giuda. Secondo l'ordine del re dicevano: "Israeliti, fate ritorno al Signore Dio di Abramo, di Isacco e di Israele, ed egli ritornerà a quanti fra voi sono scampati dal pugno dei re d'Assiria.	6 So, by order of the king, courtiers set out with letters from the king and his officials for every part ofIsrael and Judah, saying, 'Israelites, return to Yahweh, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, and he wil return tothose of you who are left and have escaped the grasp of the kings of Assyria.
7 Non siate come i vostri padri e i vostri fratelli, infedeli al Signore Dio dei loro padri, che perciò li ha abbandonati alla desolazione, come potete constatare.	7 Do not be like your fathers and brothers who were unfaithful to Yahweh, God of their ancestors; hebrought them to ruin, as you can see.
8 Ora non siate di dura cervice come i vostri padri, date la mano al Signore, venite nel santuario che egli ha santificato per sempre. Servite il Signore vostro Dio e si allontanerà da voi la sua ira ardente.	8 Do not be stubborn like your ancestors. Submit to Yahweh, come to his sanctuary which he hasconsecrated for ever, and serve Yahweh your God, so that his fierce anger may turn away from you.
9 Difatti, se fate ritorno al Signore, i vostri fratelli e i vostri figli troveranno compassione presso coloro che li hanno deportati; ritorneranno in questo paese, poiché il Signore vostro Dio è clemente e misericordioso e non distoglierà lo sguardo da voi, se voi farete ritorno a lui".	9 For if you return to Yahweh, your brothers and your sons wil be treated mercifully by their captors andbe al owed to return to this country; for Yahweh your God is gracious and merciful and wil not turn his face awayfrom you, if you return to him.'
10 I corrieri passarono di città in città nel paese di Èfraim e di Manàsse fino a Zàbulon, ma la gente li derideva e si faceva beffe di loro.	10 The courtiers went from town to town through the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh and as far asZebulon but the people laughed and scoffed at them;
11 Solo alcuni di Aser, di Manàsse e di Zàbulon si umiliarono e vennero a Gerusalemme.	11 even so, some people from Asher and Manasseh and Zebulon were humble enough to come toJerusalem,
12 In Giuda invece si manifestò la mano di Dio e generò negli uomini un pentimento concorde per eseguire il comando del re e degli ufficiali secondo la parola del Signore.	12 while in Judah the hand of God was also at work inspiring a unanimous desire to obey the order ofthe king and the officials in accordance with the word of Yahweh.
13 Si riunì in Gerusalemme una grande folla per celebrare la festa degli azzimi nel secondo mese; fu un'assemblea molto numerosa.	13 A huge crowd assembled in Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of Unleavened Bread in the secondmonth. An immense crowd
14 Cominciarono a eliminare gli altari che si trovavano in Gerusalemme; eliminarono anche tutti gli altari dei profumi e li gettarono nel torrente Cedron.	14 set to work removing the altars then in Jerusalem; they also removed al the incense altars and threwthem into the Kidron Val ey.
15 Essi immolarono la pasqua il quattordici del secondo mese; i sacerdoti e i leviti, pieni di confusione, si purificarono e quindi presentarono gli olocausti nel tempio.	15 They then slaughtered the Passover victims on the fourteenth day of the second month. Ashamed ofthemselves, the priests and Levites had in the meanwhile sanctified themselves and brought burnt offerings tothe Temple of Yahweh,
16 Occuparono il proprio posto, secondo le regole fissate per loro nella legge di Mosè, uomo di Dio. I sacerdoti facevano aspersioni con il sangue che ricevevano dai leviti	16 so they now stood in their positions prescribed in the Law of Moses man of God, the priestssprinkling the blood handed to them by the Levites.
17 perché molti dell'assemblea non si erano purificati. I leviti si occupavano dell'uccisione degli agnelli pasquali per quanti non avevano la purità richiesta per consacrarli al Signore.	17 Since many people in the congregation had not sanctified themselves, the Levites took care of theslaughter of the Passover victims to consecrate them to Yahweh for al who were not clean.
18 In realtà la maggioranza della gente, fra cui molti provenienti da Èfraim, da Manàsse, da Ìssacar e da Zàbulon, non si era purificata; mangiarono la pasqua senza fare quanto è prescritto. Ezechia pregò per loro: "Il Signore che è buono perdoni	18 For a great many people, especial y from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulon, had notpurified themselves, since they did not eat the Passover as prescribed. But Hezekiah prayed for them as fol ows,'May Yahweh in his goodness pardon
19 chiunque abbia il cuore disposto a ricercare Dio, ossia il Signore Dio dei suoi padri, anche senza la purificazione necessaria per il santuario".	19 everyone whose heart is set on seeking God, Yahweh, God of his ancestors, even if he has not beenpurified as holy things demand.'
20 Il Signore esaudì Ezechia e risparmiò il popolo.	20 Yahweh listened to Hezekiah and left the people unharmed.
21 Così gli Israeliti che si trovavano in Gerusalemme celebrarono la festa degli azzimi per sette giorni con grande gioia, mentre i sacerdoti e i leviti lodavano ogni giorno il Signore con gli strumenti che risuonavano in suo onore.	21 Amid great rejoicing, the Israelites present in Jerusalem celebrated the feast of Unleavened Breadfor seven days, while day after day the Levites and the priests praised Yahweh with al their might.
22 Ezechia parlò al cuore di tutti i leviti, che avevano dimostrato un profondo senso del Signore; per sette giorni parteciparono al banchetto solenne, offrirono sacrifici di comunione e lodarono il Signore, Dio dei loro padri.	22 Hezekiah then encouraged al the Levites who had such understanding of Yahweh. Having finishedthe seven-day festival, during which they sacrificed communion sacrifices and praised Yahweh, God of theirancestors,
23 Tutta l'assemblea decise di festeggiare altri sette giorni; così passarono ancora sette giorni di gioia.	23 the whole congregation decided to celebrate for a further seven days. So they joyful y celebrated foranother seven days,
24 Difatti il re Ezechia aveva donato alla moltitudine mille giovenchi e settemila pecore; anche i capi avevano donato alla moltitudine mille giovenchi e diecimila pecore. I sacerdoti si purificarono in gran numero.	24 Hezekiah king of Judah contributing a thousand bul s and seven thousand sheep for thecongregation, and the officials another thousand bul s and ten thousand sheep. And a large number of priestssanctified themselves.
25 Tutta l'assemblea di Giuda, i sacerdoti e i leviti, tutto il gruppo venuto da Israele, gli stranieri venuti dal paese di Israele e gli abitanti di Giuda furono in festa.	25 The whole congregation of Judah, the priests, the Levites, the whole congregation coming fromIsrael and the foreigners coming from the territory of Israel as wel as those resident in Judah, rejoiced.
26 Ci fu una gioia straordinaria in Gerusalemme, perché dal tempo di Salomone figlio di Davide, re di Israele, non c'era mai stata una cosa simile in Gerusalemme.	26 There was great rejoicing in Jerusalem, for since the days of Solomon son of David, king of Israel,nothing comparable had ever occurred in Jerusalem.
27 I sacerdoti e i leviti si levarono a benedire il popolo; la loro voce fu ascoltata e la loro preghiera raggiunse la santa dimora di Dio nel cielo.	27 The levitical priests then stood up and blessed the people and their voice was heard, and their prayerreached his holy dwelling in heaven.
