Secondo libro di Samuele 7

BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Il re, quando si fu stabilito nella sua casa, e il Signore gli ebbe dato tregua da tutti i suoi nemici all'intorno,	1 Once the king had settled into his palace and Yahweh had granted him rest from al the enemiessurrounding him,
2 disse al profeta Natan: "Vedi, io abito in una casa di cedro, mentre l'arca di Dio sta sotto una tenda".	2 the king said to the prophet Nathan, 'Look, I am living in a cedar-wood palace, while the ark of God isunder awnings.'
3 Natan rispose al re: "Va', fa' quanto hai in mente di fare, perché il Signore è con te".	3 Nathan said to the king, 'Go and do whatever you have in mind, for Yahweh is with you.'
4 Ma quella stessa notte questa parola del Signore fu rivolta a Natan:	4 But that very night, the word of Yahweh came to Nathan:
5 "Va' e riferisci al mio servo Davide: Dice il Signore: Forse tu mi costruirai una casa, perché io vi abiti?	5 'Go and tell my servant David, "Yahweh says this: Are you to build me a temple for me to live in?
6 Ma io non ho abitato in una casa da quando ho fatto uscire gli Israeliti dall'Egitto fino ad oggi; sono andato vagando sotto una tenda, in un padiglione.	6 I have never lived in a house from the day when I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until today, buthave kept travel ing with a tent for shelter.
7 Finché ho camminato, ora qua, ora là, in mezzo a tutti gli Israeliti, ho forse mai detto ad alcuno dei Giudici, a cui avevo comandato di pascere il mio popolo Israele: Perché non mi edificate una casa di cedro?	7 In al my travels with al the Israelites, did I say to any of the judges of Israel, whom I had commanded to shepherd my people Israel: Why do you not build me a cedar-wood temple?"
8 Ora dunque riferirai al mio servo Davide: Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Io ti presi dai pascoli, mentre seguivi il gregge, perché tu fossi il capo d'Israele mio popolo;	8 This is what you must say to my servant David, "Yahweh Sabaoth says this: I took you from thepasture, from following the sheep, to be leader of my people Israel;
9 sono stato con te dovunque sei andato; anche per il futuro distruggerò davanti a te tutti i tuoi nemici e renderò il tuo nome grande come quello dei grandi che sono sulla terra.	9 I have been with you wherever you went; I have got rid of al your enemies for you. I am going to makeyour fame as great as the fame of the greatest on earth.
10 Fisserò un luogo a Israele mio popolo e ve lo pianterò perché abiti in casa sua e non sia più agitato e gli iniqui non lo opprimano come in passato,	10 I am going to provide a place for my people Israel; I shall plant them there, and there they wil live andnever be disturbed again; nor wil they be oppressed by the wicked any more, as they were in former times
11 al tempo in cui avevo stabilito i Giudici sul mio popolo Israele e gli darò riposo liberandolo da tutti i suoi nemici. Te poi il Signore farà grande, poiché una casa farà a te il Signore.	11 ever since the time when I instituted judges to govern my people Israel; and I shal grant you rest fromal your enemies. Yahweh furthermore tel s you that he wil make you a dynasty.
12 Quando i tuoi giorni saranno compiuti e tu giacerai con i tuoi padri, io assicurerò dopo di te la discendenza uscita dalle tue viscere, e renderò stabile il suo regno.	12 And when your days are over and you fal asleep with your ancestors, I shal appoint your heir, yourown son to succeed you (and I shal make his sovereignty secure.
13 Egli edificherà una casa al mio nome e io renderò stabile per sempre il trono del suo regno.	13 He wil build a temple for my name) and I shal make his royal throne secure for ever.
14 Io gli sarò padre ed egli mi sarà figlio. Se farà il male, lo castigherò con verga d'uomo e con i colpi che danno i figli d'uomo,	14 I shal be a father to him and he a son to me; if he does wrong, I shal punish him with a rod such asmen use, with blows such as mankind gives.
15 ma non ritirerò da lui il mio favore, come l'ho ritirato da Saul, che ho rimosso dal trono dinanzi a te.	15 But my faithful love wil never be withdrawn from him as I withdrew it from Saul, whom I removed frombefore you.
16 La tua casa e il tuo regno saranno saldi per sempre davanti a me e il tuo trono sarà reso stabile per sempre".	16 Your dynasty and your sovereignty will ever stand firm before me and your throne be for ever secure."'
17 Natan parlò a Davide con tutte queste parole e secondo questa visione.	17 Nathan related al these words and this whole revelation to David.
18 Allora il re Davide andò a presentarsi al Signore e disse: "Chi sono io, Signore Dio, e che cos'è mai la mia casa, perché tu mi abbia fatto arrivare fino a questo punto?	18 King David then went in, sat down in Yahweh's presence and said: 'Who am I, Lord Yahweh, and whatis my lineage, for you to have led me as far as this?
19 E questo è parso ancora poca cosa ai tuoi occhi, mio Signore: tu hai parlato anche della casa del tuo servo per un lontano avvenire: e questa è come legge dell'uomo, Signore Dio!	19 Yet, to you, Lord Yahweh, this seemed too little, and now you extend your promises for your servant'sfamily into the distant future. Such is human destiny, Lord Yahweh.
20 Che potrebbe dirti di più Davide? Tu conosci il tuo servo, Signore Dio!	20 What more can David say to you, since you, Lord Yahweh, know al about your servant?
21 Per amore della tua parola e secondo il tuo cuore, hai compiuto tutte queste grandi cose, manifestandole al tuo servo.	21 Because of your promise and since you were so inclined, you have had the generosity to reveal this toyour servant.
22 Tu sei davvero grande Signore Dio! Nessuno è come te e non vi è altro Dio fuori di te, proprio come abbiamo udito con i nostri orecchi.	22 That is why you are great, Lord Yahweh; there is no one like you, no God but you alone, as everythingthat we have heard confirms.
23 E chi è come il tuo popolo, come Israele, unica nazione sulla terra che Dio è venuto a riscattare come popolo per sé e a dargli un nome? In suo favore hai operato cose grandi e tremende, per il tuo paese, per il tuo popolo che ti sei riscattato dall'Egitto, dai popoli e dagli dèi.	23 Is there another people on earth like your people, like Israel, whom a god proceeded to redeem, tomake them his people and to make a name for himself by performing great and terrible things on their behalf, bydriving out nations and their gods before his people? -
24 Tu hai stabilito il tuo popolo Israele per essere tuo popolo per sempre; tu, Signore, sei divenuto il suo Dio.	24 for you constituted your people Israel your own people for ever and you, Yahweh, became their God.
25 Ora, Signore, la parola che hai pronunciata riguardo al tuo servo e alla sua casa, confermala per sempre e fa' come hai detto.	25 'Now, Yahweh God, may the promise which you have made for your servant and for his family standfirm forever as you have said,
26 Allora il tuo nome sarà magnificato per sempre così: Il Signore degli eserciti è il Dio d'Israele! La casa del tuo servo Davide sia dunque stabile davanti a te!	26 so that your name wil be exalted for ever and people wil say, "Israel's God is Yahweh Sabaoth." Yourservant David's dynasty wil be secure before you,
27 Poiché tu, Signore degli eserciti, Dio d'Israele, hai fatto una rivelazione al tuo servo e gli hai detto: Io ti edificherò una casa! perciò il tuo servo ha trovato l'ardire di rivolgerti questa preghiera.	27 since you, Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, have disclosed to your servant, "I am going to buildyou a dynasty." Hence, your servant has ventured to offer this prayer to you.
28 Ora, Signore, tu sei Dio, le tue parole sono verità e hai promesso questo bene al tuo servo.	28 Yes, Lord Yahweh, you are God indeed, your words are true and you have made this generouspromise to your servant.
29 Dègnati dunque di benedire ora la casa del tuo servo, perché sussista sempre dinanzi a te! Poiché tu, Signore, hai parlato e per la tua benedizione la casa del tuo servo sarà benedetta per sempre!".	29 What is more, you have deigned to bless your servant's dynasty, so that it may remain for ever beforeyou; for you, Lord Yahweh, have spoken; and may your servant's dynasty be blessed with your blessing forever.'
