BIBBIA CEI 1974	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Vennero allora tutte le tribù d'Israele da Davide in Ebron e gli dissero: "Ecco noi ci consideriamo come tue ossa e tua carne.	1 Al the tribes of Israel then came to David at Hebron and said, 'Look, we are your own flesh and bone.
2 Già prima, quando regnava Saul su di noi, tu conducevi e riconducevi Israele. Il Signore ti ha detto: Tu pascerai Israele mio popolo, tu sarai capo in Israele".	2 In days past when Saul was our king, it was you who led Israel on its campaigns, and to you it was thatYahweh promised, "You are to shepherd my people Israel and be leader of Israel." '
3 Vennero dunque tutti gli anziani d'Israele dal re in Ebron e il re Davide fece alleanza con loro in Ebron davanti al Signore ed essi unsero Davide re sopra Israele.	3 So al the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a pact with them inYahweh's presence at Hebron, and they anointed David as king of Israel.
4 Davide aveva trent'anni quando fu fatto re e regnò quarant'anni.	4 David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned for forty years.
5 Regnò in Ebron su Giuda sette anni e sei mesi e in Gerusalemme regnò quarantatré anni su tutto Israele e su Giuda.	5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah for seven years and six months; then he reigned in Jerusalem over allIsrael and Judah for thirty-three years.
6 Il re e i suoi uomini mossero verso Gerusalemme contro i Gebusei che abitavano in quel paese. Costoro dissero a Davide: "Non entrerai qui: basteranno i ciechi e gli zoppi a respingerti", per dire: "Davide non potrà entrare qui".	6 The king and his men then marched on Jerusalem, on the Jebusites living in the territory. These said toDavid, 'You wil not get in here. The blind and the lame wil hold you off.' (That is to say: David will never get inhere.)
7 Ma Davide prese la rocca di Sion, cioè la città di Davide.	7 But David captured the citadel of Zion, that is, the City of David.
8 Davide proclamò in quel giorno: "Chiunque colpirà i Gebusei e li raggiungerà attraverso il canale... Quanto ai ciechi e agli zoppi, sono in odio a Davide". Per questo dicono: "Il cieco e lo zoppo non entreranno nella casa".	8 That day, David said, 'Whoever gets up the tunnel and kil s a Jebusite . . .' As for the blind and thelame, David hated them with his whole being. (Hence the saying: the blind and the lame may not enter theTemple.)
9 Davide abitò nella rocca e la chiamò Città di Davide. Egli vi fece intorno costruzioni, dal Millo verso l'interno.	9 David went to live in the citadel and cal ed it the City of David. David then built a wal round it, from theMil o inwards.
10 Davide andava sempre crescendo in potenza e il Signore Dio degli eserciti era con lui.	10 David grew stronger and stronger, and Yahweh, God of Sabaoth, was with him.
11 Chiram re di Tiro inviò a Davide messaggeri con legno di cedro, carpentieri e muratori, i quali costruirono una casa a Davide.	11 Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, with cedar wood, carpenters and stone-cutters, who builtDavid a palace.
12 Davide seppe allora che il Signore lo confermava re di Israele e innalzava il suo regno per amore di Israele suo popolo.	12 David then knew that Yahweh had confirmed him as king of Israel and, for the sake of his peopleIsrael, had extended his sovereignty.
13 Davide prese ancora concubine e mogli di Gerusalemme, dopo il suo arrivo da Ebron: queste generarono a Davide altri figli e figlie.	13 After coming from Hebron, David took other concubines and wives in Jerusalem, and sons anddaughters were born to him.
14 I figli che gli nacquero in Gerusalemme si chiamano Sammùa, Sobàb, Natan e Salomone;	14 These are the names of those born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
15 Ibcàr, Elisùa, Nèfeg, Iafìa;	15 Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,
16 Elisamà, Eliadà ed Elifèlet.	16 Elishama, Eliada, Eliphelet.
17 Quando i Filistei vennero a sapere che avevano consacrato Davide re d'Israele, salirono tutti per dargli la caccia, ma appena Davide ne fu informato, discese alla fortezza.	17 When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king of Israel, they all went up to seekhim out. On hearing this, David went down to the stronghold.
18 Vennero i Filistei e si sparsero nella valle di Rèfaim.	18 When the Philistines arrived, they deployed in the Val ey of the Rephaim.
19 Davide consultò il Signore chiedendo: "Devo andare contro i Filistei? Li metterai nelle mie mani?". Il Signore rispose a Davide: "Va' pure, perché certo metterò i Filistei nelle tue mani".	19 David consulted Yahweh and asked, 'Shal I attack the Philistines? Wil you deliver them into mypower?' Yahweh replied to David, 'Attack! I shal certainly deliver the Philistines into your power.'
20 Davide si recò a Baal-Perazìm e là Davide li sconfisse ed esclamò: "Il Signore ha aperto una breccia tra i nemici davanti a me, come una breccia aperta dalle acque". Per questo chiamò quel luogo Baal-Perazìm.	20 Accordingly, David went to Baal-Perazim and there David defeated them. He said, 'Yahweh has madea breach in my enemies for me, as though they had been breached by a flood.' This is why the place was giventhe name Baal-Perazim.
21 I Filistei abbandonarono là i loro dèi e Davide e la sua gente li portarono via.	21 They had left their gods behind them there, and David and his men carried them off.
22 I Filistei salirono poi di nuovo e si sparsero nella valle di Rèfaim.	22 Again the Philistines invaded and deployed in the Valley of the Rephaim.
23 Davide consultò il Signore, il quale gli disse: "Non andare; gira alle loro spalle e piomba su di loro dalla parte dei Balsami.	23 David consulted Yahweh, who replied, 'Do not attack them from the front; go round to their rear andengage them opposite the balsam trees.
24 Quando udrai un rumore di passi sulle cime dei Balsami, lanciati subito all'attacco, perché allora il Signore uscirà davanti a te per sconfiggere l'esercito dei Filistei".	24 When you hear the sound of footsteps in the tops of the balsam trees, advance, for that wil beYahweh going out ahead of you to defeat the Philistine army.'
25 Davide fece come il Signore gli aveva ordinato e sconfisse i Filistei da Gàbaa fino all'ingresso di Ghezer.	25 David did as Yahweh had ordered and beat the Philistines from Gibeon to the Pass of Gezer.
