Livre des Psaumes 33

JERUSALEM	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Criez de joie, les justes, pour Yahvé, aux coeurs droits convient la louange.	1 A psalm for David. Rejoice in the Lord, O ye just: praise becometh the upright.
2 Rendez grâce à Yahvé sur la harpe, jouez-lui sur la lyre à dix cordes;	2 Give praise to the Lord on the harp; sing to him with the psaltery, the instrument of ten strings.
3 chantez-lui un cantique nouveau, de tout votre art accompagnez l'acclamation!	3 Sing to him a new canticle, sing well unto him with a loud noise.
4 Droite est la parole de Yahvé, et toute son oeuvre est vérité;	4 For the word of the Lord is right, and all his works are done with faithfulness.
5 il chérit la justice et le droit, de l'amour de Yahvé la terre est pleine.	5 He loveth mercy and judgment; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord.
6 Par la parole de Yahvé les cieux ont été faits, par le souffle de sa bouche, toute leur armée;	6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were established; and all the power of them by the spirit of his mouth:
7 il rassemble l'eau des mers comme une digue, il met en réserve les abîmes.	7 Gathering together the waters of the sea, as in a vessel; laying up the depths in storehouses.
8 Qu'elle tremble devant Yahvé, toute la terre, qu'il soit craint de tous les habitants du monde!	8 Let all the earth fear the Lord, and let all the inhabitants of the world be in awe of him.
9 Il parle et cela est, il commande et cela existe.	9 For he spoke and they were made: he commanded and they were created.
10 Yahvé déjoue le plan des nations, il empêche les pensées des peuples;	10 The Lord bringeth to naught the counsels of nations; and he rejecteth the devices of people, and casteth away the counsels of princes.
11 mais le plan de Yahvé subsiste à jamais, les pensées de son coeur, d'âge en âge.	11 But the counsel of the Lord standeth for ever: the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
12 Heureux le peuple dont Yahvé est le Dieu, la nation qu'il s'est choisie en héritage!	12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord: the people whom he hath chosen for his inheritance.
13 Du haut des cieux Yahvé regarde, il voit tous les fils d'Adam;	13 The Lord hath looked from heaven: he hath beheld all the sons of men.
14 du lieu de sa demeure il observe tous les habitants de la terre;	14 From his habitation which he hath prepared, he hath looked upon all that dwell on the earth.
15 lui seul forme le coeur, il discerne tous leurs actes.	15 He who hath made the hearts of every one of them: who understandeth all their works.
16 Le roi n'est pas sauvé par une grande force, le brave préservé par sa grande vigueur.	16 The king is not saved by a great army: nor shall the giant be saved by his own great strength.
17 Mensonge qu'un cheval pour sauver, avec sa grande force, pas d'issue.	17 Vain is the horse for safety: neither shall he be saved by the abundance of his strength.
18 Voici, l'oeil de Yahvé est sur ceux qui le craignent, sur ceux qui espèrent son amour,	18 Behold the eyes of the Lord are on them that fear him: and on them that hope in his mercy.
19 pour préserver leur âme de la mort et les faire vivre au temps de la famine.	19 To deliver their souls from death; and feed them in famine.
20 Notre âme attend Yahvé, notre secours et bouclier, c'est lui;	20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: for he is our helper and protector.
21 en lui, la joie de notre coeur, en son nom de sainteté notre foi.	21 For in him our heart shall rejoice: and in his holy name we have trusted.
22 Sur nous soit ton amour, Yahvé, comme notre espoir est en toi.	22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we have hoped in thee.
