1 Preghiera di un afflitto che langue ed effonde davanti al Signore il suo lamento.	1 The prayer of one afflicted and wasting away whose anguish is poured out before the LORD.
2 Signore, ascolta la mia preghiera; giunga a te il mio grido.	2 LORD, hear my prayer; let my cry come to you.
3 Non tener nascosto da me il tuo volto, quando l'angoscia mi stringe. Protendi verso di me il tuo orecchio; quando t'invoco, non tardare a rispondermi.	3 Do not hide your face from me now that I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly.
4 Sì, si dileguano come fumo i miei giorni; ardono come brace le mie ossa.	4 For my days vanish like smoke; my bones burn away as in a furnace.
5 E' stato colpito il mio cuore e s'è inaridito come erba; trascuro di prendere perfino il cibo.	5 I am withered, dried up like grass, too wasted to eat my food.
6 A causa del mio gemere la mia pelle s'è attaccata alle ossa.	6 From my loud groaning I become just skin and bones.
7 Sono diventato come un pellicano del deserto, sono simile a un gufo fra le macerie.	7 I am like a desert owl, like an owl among the ruins.
8 Nel continuo vegliare sono diventato come un passero, tutto solo sul tetto.	8 I lie awake and moan, like a lone sparrow on the roof.
9 M'insultano tutti i giorni i miei nemici, sono furenti contro di me; imprecano sul mio nome.	9 All day long my enemies taunt me; in their rage, they make my name a curse.
10 Mi nutro di cenere come di pane, mescolo lacrime alle mie bevande.	10 I eat ashes like bread, mingle my drink with tears.
11 Sì, per la tua ira e il tuo sdegno mi hai preso e mi hai gettato lontano.	11 Because of your furious wrath, you lifted me up just to cast me down.
12 I miei giorni sono come ombra che s'allunga, mentre come erba mi sento inaridire.	12 My days are like a lengthening shadow; I wither like the grass.
13 Ma tu, Signore, rimani per sempre, il tuo ricordo, di generazione in generazione.	13 But you, LORD, are enthroned forever; your renown is for all generations.
14 Tu sorgerai e avrai pietà di Sion; poiché è tempo di usarle misericordia, è giunta l'ora.	14 You will again show mercy to Zion; now is the time for pity; the appointed time has come.
15 Sì, sono care ai tuoi servi le sue pietre; essi sentono pietà per le sue rovine.	15 Its stones are dear to your servants; its dust moves them to pity.
16 Le genti temeranno il nome del Signore; la tua gloria, tutti i re della terra.	16 The nations shall revere your name, LORD, all the kings of the earth, your glory,
17 Sì, il Signore ha ricostruito Sion ed è apparso nella sua gloria.	17 Once the LORD has rebuilt Zion and appeared in glory,
18 Egli ha esaudito la preghiera dei derelitti, non ha disprezzato la loro implorazione.	18 Heeding the plea of the lowly, not scorning their prayer.
19 Questo venga scritto per la generazione futura, e un popolo rigenerato dia lode al Signore.	19 Let this be written for the next generation, for a people not yet born, that they may praise the LORD:
20 Sì, il Signore ha guardato dall'alto del suo santuario, dal cielo ha mirato la terra,	20 "The LORD looked down from the holy heights, viewed the earth from heaven,
21 per ascoltare il gemito del prigioniero, per liberare i votati alla morte,	21 To attend to the groaning of the prisoners, to release those doomed to die."
22 e così annunzino in Sion il nome del Signore, e la sua lode in Gerusalemme,	22 Then the LORD'S name will be declared on Zion, the praise of God in Jerusalem,
23 quando insieme si raduneranno i popoli e i regni per servire il Signore.	23 When all peoples and kingdoms gather to worship the LORD.
24 E' stato abbattuto per via il mio vigore; sono stati accorciati i miei giorni.	24 God has shattered my strength in mid-course, has cut short my days.
25 Io dico: "Mio Dio, non mi rapire alla metà dei miei giorni. I tuoi anni si protraggono per generazione e generazione.	25 I plead, O my God, do not take me in the midst of my days. Your years last through all generations.
26 All'inizio tu fondasti la terra e opera delle tue mani furono i cieli.	26 Of old you laid the earth's foundations; the heavens are the work of your hands.
27 Essi periranno, ma tu rimarrai; tutti loro si logoreranno come una veste, come un abito tu li muterai ed essi saranno mutati.	27 They perish, but you remain; they all wear out like a garment; Like clothing you change them and they are changed,
28 Ma tu sei sempre lo stesso e i tuoi anni non verranno mai meno.	28 but you are the same, your years have no end.
29 I figli dei tuoi servi avranno una dimora e la loro progenie sarà salda davanti a te".	29 May the children of your servants live on; may their descendants live in your presence.
