| 1 Llamó a sus doce discípulos y les dio autoridad para expulsar espíritus inmundos y curar toda enfermedad y toda dolencia. | 1 He summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits with power to drivethem out and to cure all kinds of disease and all kinds of il ness. |

| 4 Simón el de Caná, y Judas Iscariote, el que lo entregó. | 4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who was also his betrayer. |
| 5 A estos doce los envió Jesús con estas instrucciones: «No vayáis a tierra de paganos ni entréis en las ciudades de Samaría, | 5 These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them as fol ows: 'Do not make your way to gentile territory,and do not enter any Samaritan town; |
| 6 sino id a las ovejas descarriadas de Israel. | 6 go instead to the lost sheep of the House of Israel. |
| 7 Id y proclamad que ha llegado el reino de los cielos. | 7 And as you go, proclaim that the kingdom of Heaven is close at hand. |
| 8 Curad enfermos, resucitad muertos, limpiad leprosos, arrojad demonios. Gratis habéis recibido, dad gratis. | 8 Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those suffering from virulent skin-diseases, drive out devils. Youreceived without charge, give without charge. |
| 9 No os procuréis en la faja oro, plata ni cobre; | 9 Provide yourselves with no gold or silver, not even with coppers for your purses, |
| 10 ni tampoco alforja para el camino, ni dos túnicas, ni sandalias, ni bastón; bien merece el obrero su sustento. | 10 with no haversack for the journey or spare tunic or footwear or a staff, for the labourer deserves hiskeep. |
| 11 Cuando entréis en una ciudad o aldea, averiguad quién hay allí de confianza y quedaos en su casa hasta que os vayáis. | 11 'Whatever town or vil age you go into, seek out someone worthy and stay with him until you leave. |
| 12 Al entrar en una casa, saludadla con la paz; | 12 As you enter his house, salute it, |
| 13 si la casa se lo merece, vuestra paz vendrá a ella. Si no se lo merece, la paz volverá a vosotros. | 13 and if the house deserves it, may your peace come upon it; if it does not, may your peace come backto you. |
| 14 Si alguno no os recibe o no escucha vuestras palabras, al salir de su casa o de la ciudad, sacudid el polvo de los pies. | 14 And if anyone does not welcome you or listen to what you have to say, as you walk out of the houseor town shake the dust from your feet. |
| 15 En verdad os digo que el día del juicio les será más llevadero a Sodoma y Gomorra, que a aquella ciudad. | 15 In truth I tel you, on the Day of Judgement it wil be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah than forthat town. |
| 16 Mirad que yo os envío como ovejas entre lobos; por eso, sed sagaces como serpientes y sencillos como palomas. | 16 Look, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; so be cunning as snakes and yet innocent asdoves. |
| 17 Pero ¡cuidado con la gente!, porque os entregarán a los tribunales, os azotarán en las sinagogas | 17 'Be prepared for people to hand you over to sanhedrins and scourge you in their synagogues. |
| 18 y os harán comparecer ante gobernadores y reyes por mi causa, para dar testimonio ante ellos y ante los gentiles. | 18 You will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as evidence to them and to the gentiles. |
| 19 Cuando os entreguen, no os preocupéis de lo que vais a decir o de cómo lo diréis: en aquel momento se os sugerirá lo que tenéis que decir, | 19 But when you are handed over, do not worry about how to speak or what to say; what you are to saywil be given to you when the time comes, |
| 20 porque no seréis vosotros los que habléis, sino que el Espíritu de vuestro Padre hablará por vosotros. | 20 because it is not you who wil be speaking; the Spirit of your Father wil be speaking in you. |
| 21 El hermano entregará al hermano a la muerte, el padre al hijo; se rebelarán los hijos contra sus padres y los matarán. | 21 'Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children wil come forward against theirparents and have them put to death. |
| 22 Y seréis odiados por todos a causa de mi nombre; pero el que persevere hasta el final, se salvará. | 22 You will be universally hated on account of my name; but anyone who stands firm to the end wil besaved. |
| 23 Cuando os persigan en una ciudad, huid a otra. En verdad os digo que no terminaréis con las ciudades de Israel antes de que vuelva el Hijo del hombre. | 23 If they persecute you in one town, take refuge in the next; and if they persecute you in that, takerefuge in another. In truth I tel you, you wil not have gone the round of the towns of Israel before the Son of mancomes. |
| 24 Un discípulo no es más que su maestro, ni un esclavo más que su amo; | 24 'Disciple is not superior to teacher, nor slave to master. |
| 25 ya le basta al discípulo con ser como su maestro y al esclavo como su amo. Si al dueño de casa lo han llamado Belzebú, ¡cuánto más a los criados! | 25 It is enough for disciple to grow to be like teacher, and slave like master. If they have called themaster of the house "Beelzebul", how much more the members of his household? |
| 26 No les tengáis miedo, porque nada hay encubierto, que no llegue a descubrirse; ni nada hay escondido, que no llegue a saberse. | 26 'So do not be afraid of them. Everything now covered up wil be uncovered, and everything nowhidden wil be made clear. |
| 27 Lo que os digo en la oscuridad, decidlo a la luz, y lo que os digo al oído, pregonadlo desde la azotea. | 27 What I say to you in the dark, tel in the daylight; what you hear in whispers, proclaim from thehousetops. |
| 28 No tengáis miedo a los que matan el cuerpo, pero no pueden matar el alma. No; temed al que puede llevar a la perdición alma y cuerpo en la gehenna. | 28 'Do not be afraid of those who kil the body but cannot kill the soul; fear him rather who can destroyboth body and soul in hell. |
| 29 ¿No se venden un par de gorriones por un céntimo? Y, sin embargo, ni uno solo cae al suelo sin que lo disponga vuestro Padre. | 29 Can you not buy two sparrows for a penny? And yet not one falls to the ground without your Fatherknowing. |
| 30 Pues vosotros hasta los cabellos de la cabeza tenéis contados. | 30 Why, every hair on your head has been counted. |
| 31 Por eso, no tengáis miedo: valéis más vosotros que muchos gorriones. | 31 So there is no need to be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. |
| 32 A quien se declare por mí ante los hombres, yo también me declararé por él ante mi Padre que está en los cielos. | 32 'So if anyone declares himself for me in the presence of human beings, I wil declare myself for him inthe presence of my Father in heaven. |
| 33 Y si uno me niega ante los hombres, yo también lo negaré ante mi Padre que está en los cielos. | 33 But the one who disowns me in the presence of human beings, I wil disown in the presence of myFather in heaven. |
| 34 No penséis que he venido a la tierra a sembrar paz: no he venido a sembrar paz, sino espada. | 34 'Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth: it is not peace I have come to bring, buta sword. |
| 35 He venido a enemistar al hombre con su padre, a la hija con su madre, a la nuera con su suegra; | 35 For I have come to set son against father, daughter against mother, daughter-in-law against mother-in-law; |
| 36 los enemigos de cada uno serán los de su propia casa. | 36 a person's enemies will be the members of his own household. |
| 37 El que quiere a su padre o a su madre más que a mí, no es digno de mí; el que quiere a su hijo o a su hija más que a mí, no es digno de mí; | 37 'No one who prefers father or mother to me is worthy of me. No one who prefers son or daughter tome is worthy of me. |
| 38 y el que no carga con su cruz y me sigue, no es digno de mí. | 38 Anyone who does not take his cross and fol ow in my footsteps is not worthy of me. |
| 39 El que encuentre su vida la perderá, y el que pierda su vida por mí, la encontrará. | 39 Anyone who finds his life wil lose it; anyone who loses his life for my sake wil find it. |
| 40 El que os recibe a vosotros, me recibe a mí, y el que me recibe, recibe al que me ha enviado; | 40 'Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me; and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the one whosent me. |
| 41 el que recibe a un profeta porque es profeta, tendrá recompensa de profeta; y el que recibe a un justo porque es justo, tendrá recompensa de justo. | 41 'Anyone who welcomes a prophet because he is a prophet wil have a prophet's reward; and anyonewho welcomes an upright person because he is upright wil have the reward of an upright person. |
| 42 El que dé a beber, aunque no sea más que un vaso de agua fresca, a uno de estos pequeños, solo porque es mi discípulo, en verdad os digo que no perderá su recompensa». | 42 'If anyone gives so much as a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple,then in truth I tel you, he wil most certainly not go without his reward.' |
