1 Corintios 10

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 No quiero que ignoréis, hermanos, que nuestros padres estuvieron todos bajo la nube y todos atravesaron el mar;	1 I want you to be quite certain, brothers, that our ancestors al had the cloud over them and al passedthrough the sea.
2 y todos fueron bautizados en Moisés, por la nube y el mar;	2 In the cloud and in the sea they were all baptised into Moses;
3 y todos comieron el mismo alimento espiritual;	3 al ate the same spiritual food
4 y todos bebieron la misma bebida espiritual, pues bebían de la roca espiritual que les seguía; y la roca era Cristo.	4 and al drank the same spiritual drink, since they drank from the spiritual rock which fol owed them,and that rock was Christ.
5 Pero la mayoría de ellos no fueron del agrado de Dios, pues sus cuerpos quedaron tendidos en el desierto.	5 In spite of this, God was not pleased with most of them, and their corpses were scattered over thedesert.
6 Estas cosas sucedieron en figura para nosotros para que no codiciemos lo malo como ellos lo codiciaron.	6 Now these happenings were examples, for our benefit, so that we should never set our hearts, as theydid, on evil things;
7 No os hagáis idólatras al igual de algunos de ellos, como dice la Escritura: «Sentóse el pueblo a comer y a beber y se levantó a divertirse».	7 nor are you to worship false gods, as some of them did, as it says in scripture: The people sat down toeat and drink, and afterwards got up to amuse themselves.
8 Ni forniquemos como algunos de ellos fornicaron y cayeron muertos 23.000 en un solo día.	8 Nor, again, are we to fall into sexual immorality; some of them did this, and twenty-three thousand mettheir downfal in one day.
9 Ni tentemos al Señor como algunos de ellos le tentaron y perecieron víctimas de las serpientes.	9 And we are not to put the Lord to the test; some of them put him to the test, and they were killed bysnakes.
10 Ni murmuréis como algunos de ellos murmuraron y perecieron bajo el Exterminador.	10 Never complain; some of them complained, and they were killed by the Destroyer.
11 Todo esto les acontecía en figura, y fue escrito para aviso de los que hemos llegado a la plenitud de los tiempos.	11 Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were described in writing to bea lesson for us, to whom it has fallen to live in the last days of the ages.
12 Así pues, el que crea estar en pie, mire no caiga.	12 Everyone, no matter how firmly he thinks he is standing, must be careful he does not fall.
13 No habéis sufrido tentación superior a la medida humana. Y fiel es Dios que no permitirá seáis tentados sobre vuestras fuerzas. Antes bien, con la tentación os dará modo de poderla resistir con éxito.	13 None of the trials which have come upon you is more than a human being can stand. You can trustthat God wil not let you be put to the test beyond your strength, but with any trial will also provide a way out byenabling you to put up with it.
14 Por eso, queridos, huid de la idolatría.	14 For that reason, my dear friends, have nothing to do with the worship of false gods.
15 Os hablo como a prudentes. Juzgad vosotros lo que digo.	15 I am talking to you as sensible people; weigh up for yourselves what I have to say.
16 La copa de bendición que bendecimos ¿no es acaso comunión con la sangre de Cristo? Y el pan que partimos ¿no es comunión con el cuerpo de Cristo?	16 The blessing-cup, which we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ; and the loaf of bread which we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ?
17 Porque aun siendo muchos, un solo pan y un solo cuerpo somos, pues todos participamos de un solo pan.	17 And as there is one loaf, so we, although there are many of us, are one single body, for we all sharein the one loaf.
18 Fijaos en el Israel según la carne. Los que comen de las víctimas ¿no están acaso en comunión con el altar?	18 Now compare the natural people of Israel: is it not true that those who eat the sacrifices share thealtar?
19 ¿Qué digo, pues? ¿Que lo inmolado a los ídolos es algo? O ¿que los ídolos son algo?	19 What does this mean? That the dedication of food to false gods amounts to anything? Or that falsegods themselves amount to anything?
20 Pero si lo que inmolan los gentiles, ¡lo inmolan a los demonios y no a Dios! Y yo no quiero que entréis en comunion con los demonios.	20 No, it does not; simply that when pagans sacrifice, what is sacrificed by them is sacrificed to demonswho are not God. I do not want you to share with demons.
21 No podéis beber de la copa del Señor y de la copa de los demonios. No podéis participar de la mesa del Señor y de la mesa de los demonios.	21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons as wel ; you cannot have a share at theLord's table and the demons' table as wel .
22 ¿O es que queremos provocar los celos del Señor? ¿Somos acaso más fuertes que él?	22 Do we real y want to arouse the Lord's jealousy; are we stronger than he is?
23 «Todo es lícito», mas no todo es conveniente. «Todo es lícito», mas no todo edifica.	23 'Everything is permissible'; maybe so, but not everything does good. True, everything is permissible,but not everything builds people up.
24 Que nadie procure su propio interés, sino el de los demás.	24 Nobody should be looking for selfish advantage, but everybody for someone else's.
25 Comed todo lo que se vende en el mercado sin plantearos cuestiones de conciencia;	25 Eat anything that is sold in butchers' shops; there is no need to ask questions for conscience's sake,
26 pues del Señor es la tierra y todo cuanto contiene.	26 since To the Lord belong the earth and all it contains.
27 Si un infiel os invita y vosotros aceptáis, comed todo lo que os presente sin plantearos cuestiones de conciencia.	27 If an unbeliever invites you to a meal, go if you want to, and eat whatever is put before you; you neednot ask questions of conscience first.
28 Mas si alguien os dice: «Esto ha sido ofrecido en sacrificio», no lo comáis, a causa del que lo advirtió y por motivos de conciencia.	28 But if someone says to you, 'This food has been offered in sacrifice,' do not eat it, out ofconsideration for the person that told you, for conscience's sake-
29 No me refiero a tu conciencia, sino a la del otro; pues ¿cómo va a ser juzgada la libertad de mi conciencia por una conciencia ajena?	29 not your own conscience, I mean, but the other person's. Why should my freedom be governed bysomebody else's conscience?
30 Si yo tomo algo dando gracias, ¿por qué voy a ser reprendido por aquello mismo que tomo dando gracias?	30 Provided that I accept it with gratitude, why should I be blamed for eating food for which I givethanks?
31 Por tanto, ya comáis, ya bebáis o hagáis cualquier otra cosa, hacedlo todo para gloria de Dios.	31 Whatever you eat, then, or drink, and whatever else you do, do it al for the glory of God.
32 No deis escándalo ni a judíos ni a griegos ni a la Iglesia de Dios;	32 Never be a cause of offence, either to Jews or to Greeks or to the Church of God,
33 lo mismo que yo, que me esfuerzo por agradar a todos en todo, sin procurar mi propio interés, sino el de la mayoría, para que se salven.	33 just as I try to accommodate everybody in everything, not looking for my own advantage, but for theadvantage of everybody else, so that they may be saved.
