1 Los jefes de familia del clan de los hijos de Galaad, hijo de Makir, hijo de Manasés, uno de los clanes de los hijos de José, se presentaron y dijeron delante de Moisés y de los principales jefes de las casas paternas de los israelitas:	1 Then the leaders of the families of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, from the stock of the sons of Joseph, approached and spoke to Moses before the leaders of Israel, and they said:
2 «Yahveh mandó a mi Señor que diera la tierra en herencia, por suertes, a los israelitas, y mi Señor recibió orden de Yahveh de dar la herencia de Selofjad, nuestro hermano, a sus hijas.	2 “The Lord has instructed you, our ruler, so that you would divide the land by lot to the sons of Israel, and so that you would give to the daughters of Zelophehad, our brother, the possession owed to their father.
3 Si resulta que se casan con alguno de otra tribu israelita, será arrancada su parte de la herencia de nuestras familias. Aumentará entonces la herencia de la tribu a la que vayan a pertenecer, y se reducirá la herencia que nos tocó en suerte.	3 But if men of another tribe receive them as wives, their possession will follow them, and having been transferred to another tribe, there will be a reduction in our inheritance.
4 Y cuando llegue el jubileo para los israelitas, se añadirá la herencia de ellas a la herencia de la tribu a la que vayan a pertenecer y se restará su herencia de la herencia de la tribu de nuestros padres.»	4 And so it may be that, when the Jubilee of remission, that is, the fiftieth year, has arrived, the distribution by lots shall be confounded, and the possession of the one shall be transferred to others.”
5 Moisés, según la orden de Yahveh, mandó lo siguiente a los israelitas: «Dice bien la tribu de los hijos de José.	5 Moses answered the sons of Israel, and, at the instruction of the Lord, he said: “The tribe of the sons of Joseph has spoken correctly.
6 Esto es lo que Yahveh ordenó acerca de las hijas de Selofjad: Tomarán por esposos a los que bien les parezca, con tal que se casen dentro de los clanes de la tribu de su padre.	6 And so, this is the law which has been promulgated by the Lord about the daughters of Zelophehad: Let them marry whomever they may wish, but only among the men of their own tribe,
7 La herencia de los israelitas no podrá pasar de una tribu a otra, sino que los israelitas estarán vinculados cada uno a la herencia de la tribu de sus padres.	7 lest the possession of the sons of Israel become commingled, from tribe to tribe. For all men shall take wives from their own tribe and kinship;
8 Y toda hija que posea una herencia en una de las tribus de los israelitas se casará con uno de un clan de la tribu de su padre para que cada uno de los israelitas posea la herencia de sus padres.	8 and all women shall take husbands from their same tribe, so that the inheritance may remain within the families,
9 No podrá pasar una herencia de una tribu a otra. Cada una de las tribus de los israelitas quedará vinculada a su heredad.»	9 and so that the tribes may not be mingled together, but may remain such as they were separated by the Lord.”
10 Tal como había mandado Yahveh a Moisés, así hicieron las hijas de Selofjad.	10 And the daughters of Zelophehad acted according to what was ordered.
11 Majlá, Tirsá, Joglá, Milká y Noá, las hijas de Selofjad, se casaron con los hijos de sus tíos paternos.	11 And Mahlah, and Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noa were wed to the sons of their paternal uncle,
12 Tomaron marido de los clanes de los hijos de Manasés, hijo de José, y así su herencia fue para la tribu del clan de su padre.	12 from the family of Manasseh, who was a son of Joseph. And the possession which had been distributed to them remained in the tribe and family of their father.
13 Estas son las órdenes y normas que dio Yahveh, por medio de Moisés, a los israelitas, en las Estepas de Moab, cerca del Jordán, a la altura de Jericó.	13 These are the commandments and judgments which the Lord ordered by the hand of Moses to the sons of Israel, in the plains of Moab, above the Jordan, opposite Jericho.
