1 Los jefes de familia del clan de los hijos de Galaad, hijo de Makir, hijo de Manasés, uno de los clanes de los hijos de José, se presentaron y dijeron delante de Moisés y de los principales jefes de las casas paternas de los israelitas:	1 The heads of the ancestral houses in the clan of descendants of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh-one of the Josephite clans-came up and laid this plea before Moses and the priest Eleazar and before the princes who were the heads of the ancestral houses of the other Israelites.
2 «Yahveh mandó a mi Señor que diera la tierra en herencia, por suertes, a los israelitas, y mi Señor recibió orden de Yahveh de dar la herencia de Selofjad, nuestro hermano, a sus hijas.	2 They said: "The LORD commanded you, my lord, to apportion the land by lot among the Israelites; and you, my lord, were also commanded by the LORD to give the heritage of our kinsman Zelophehad to his daughters.
3 Si resulta que se casan con alguno de otra tribu israelita, será arrancada su parte de la herencia de nuestras familias. Aumentará entonces la herencia de la tribu a la que vayan a pertenecer, y se reducirá la herencia que nos tocó en suerte.	3 But if they marry into one of the other Israelite tribes, their heritage will be withdrawn from our ancestral heritage and will be added to that of the tribe into which they marry; thus the heritage that fell to us by lot will be diminished.
4 Y cuando llegue el jubileo para los israelitas, se añadirá la herencia de ellas a la herencia de la tribu a la que vayan a pertenecer y se restará su herencia de la herencia de la tribu de nuestros padres.»	4 When the Israelites celebrate the jubilee year, the heritage of these women will be permanently added to that of the tribe into which they marry and will be withdrawn from that of our ancestral tribe."
5 Moisés, según la orden de Yahveh, mandó lo siguiente a los israelitas: «Dice bien la tribu de los hijos de José.	5 So Moses gave this regulation to the Israelites according to the instructions of the LORD: "The tribe of the Josephites are right in what they say.
6 Esto es lo que Yahveh ordenó acerca de las hijas de Selofjad: Tomarán por esposos a los que bien les parezca, con tal que se casen dentro de los clanes de la tribu de su padre.	6 This is what the LORD commands with regard to the daughters of Zelophehad: They may marry anyone they please, provided they marry into a clan of their ancestral tribe,
7 La herencia de los israelitas no podrá pasar de una tribu a otra, sino que los israelitas estarán vinculados cada uno a la herencia de la tribu de sus padres.	7 so that no heritage of the Israelites will pass from one tribe to another, but all the Israelites will retain their own ancestral heritage.
8 Y toda hija que posea una herencia en una de las tribus de los israelitas se casará con uno de un clan de la tribu de su padre para que cada uno de los israelitas posea la herencia de sus padres.	8 Therefore, every daughter who inherits property in any of the Israelite tribes shall marry someone belonging to a clan of her own ancestral tribe, in order that all the Israelites may remain in possession of their own ancestral heritage.
9 No podrá pasar una herencia de una tribu a otra. Cada una de las tribus de los israelitas quedará vinculada a su heredad.»	9 Thus, no heritage can pass from one tribe to another, but all the Israelite tribes will retain their own ancestral heritage."
10 Tal como había mandado Yahveh a Moisés, así hicieron las hijas de Selofjad.	10 The daughters of Zelophehad obeyed the command which the LORD had given to Moses.
11 Majlá, Tirsá, Joglá, Milká y Noá, las hijas de Selofjad, se casaron con los hijos de sus tíos paternos.	11 Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah and Noah, Zelophehad's daughters, married relatives on their father's side
12 Tomaron marido de los clanes de los hijos de Manasés, hijo de José, y así su herencia fue para la tribu del clan de su padre.	12 within the clans of the descendants of Manasseh, son of Joseph; hence their heritage remained in the tribe of their father's clan.
13 Estas son las órdenes y normas que dio Yahveh, por medio de Moisés, a los israelitas, en las Estepas de Moab, cerca del Jordán, a la altura de Jericó.	13 These are the commandments and decisions which the LORD prescribed for the Israelites through Moses, on the plains of Moab beside the Jericho stretch of the Jordan.
