Números 12

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 María y Aarón murmuraron contra Moisés por causa de la mujer kusita que había tomado por esposa: por haberse casado con una kusita.	1 Miriam, and Aaron too, criticised Moses over the Cushite woman he had married. He had indeedmarried a Cushite woman.
2 Decían: «¿Es que Yahveh no ha hablado más que con Moisés? ¿No ha hablado también con nosotros?» Y Yahveh lo oyó.	2 They said, 'Is Moses the only one through whom Yahweh has spoken? Has he not spoken through ustoo?' Yahweh heard this.
3 Moisés era un hombre muy humilde, más que hombre alguno sobre la haz de la tierra.	3 Now Moses was extremely humble, the humblest man on earth.
4 De improviso, Yahveh dijo a Moisés, a Aarón y a María: «Salid los tres a la Tienda del Encuentro.» Y salieron los tres.	4 Suddenly Yahweh said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, 'Come out, al three of you, to the Tent ofMeeting.' They went, al three of them,
5 Bajó Yahveh en la columna de Nube y se quedó a la puerta de la Tienda. Llamó a Aarón y a María y se adelantaron los dos.	5 and Yahweh descended in a pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the Tent. He cal ed Aaronand Miriam and they both came forward.
6 Dijo Yahveh: «Escuchad mis palabras: Si hay entre vosotros un profeta, en visión me revelo a él, y hablo con él en sueños.	6 Yahweh said: Listen to my words! if there is a prophet among you, I reveal myself to him in a vision, I speak to him in a dream.
7 No así con mi siervo Moisés: él es de toda confianza en mi casa;	7 Not so with my servant Moses; to him my whole household is entrusted;
8 boca a boca hablo con él, abiertamente y no enigmas, y contempla la imagen de Yahveh. ¿Por qué, pues, habéis osado hablar contra mi siervo Moisés?»	8 to him I speak face to face, plainly and not in riddles, and he sees Yahweh's form. How, then, couldyou dare to criticise my servant Moses?
9 Y se encendió la ira de Yahveh contra ellos. Cuando se marchó,	9 Yahweh's anger was aroused by them. He went away,
10 y la Nube se retiró de encima de la Tienda, he aquí que María estaba leprosa, blanca como la nieve. Aarón se volvió hacia María y vio que estaba leprosa.	10 and as soon as the cloud left the Tent, there was Miriam covered with a virulent skin-disease, whiteas snow! Aaron turned to look at her and saw that she had contracted a virulent skin-disease.
11 Y dijo Aarón a Moisés: «Perdón, Señor mío, no cargues sobre nosotros el pecado que neciamente hemos cometido.	11 Aaron said to Moses: 'Oh, my Lord, please do not punish us for the sin we have been foolishenough to commit.
12 Por favor, que no sea ella como quien nace muerto del seno de su madre, con la carne medio consumida.»	12 Do not let her be like some monster with its flesh half eaten away when it leaves its mother's womb!'
13 Moisés clamó a Yahveh diciendo: «Oh Dios, cúrala, por favor.»	13 Moses pleaded with Yahweh. 'O God,' he said, 'I beg you, please heal her!'
14 Yahveh respondió a Moisés: «Si tu padre le hubiera escupido al rostro, ¿no tendría que pasar siete días de vergüenza? Que quede siete días fuera del campamento y luego sea admitida otra vez.	14 Yahweh then said to Moses, 'If her father had done no more than spit in her face, would she not beunclean for seven days? Have her shut out of the camp for seven days, and then have her brought in again.'
15 María quedó siete días excluida del campamento. Pero el pueblo no partió hasta que ella se reintegró.	15 Miriam was shut out of the camp for seven days. The people did not set out until she returned.
16 Después el pueblo partió de Jaserot y acamparon en el desierto de Parán.	16 Then the people moved on from Hazeroth and pitched camp in the desert of Paran.
