Ezequiel 14

BIBLIA	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Algunos ancianos de Israel vinieron a mi casa y se sentaron ante mí.	1 When certain elders of Israel came and sat down before me,
2 Entonces la palabra de Yahveh me fue dirigida en estos términos:	2 the word of the LORD came to me:
3 Hijo de hombre, estos hombres han erigido sus basuras en su corazón, han puesto delante de su rostro la ocasión de sus culpas, ¿y voy a dejarme consultar por ellos?	3 Son of man, these men have the memory of their idols fresh in their hearts, and they keep the occasion of their sin before them. Why should I allow myself to be consulted by them?
4 Habla, pues, y diles: Así dice el Señor Yahveh: A todo aquel de la casa de Israel que erija sus basuras en su corazón o que ponga delante de su rostro la ocasión de sus culpas, y luego se presente al profeta, yo mismo, Yahveh, le responderé, a causa de la multitud de sus basuras,	4 Therefore speak with them, and say to them: Thus says the Lord GOD: If anyone of the house of Israel, holding the memory of his idols in his heart and keeping the occasion of his sin before him, has recourse to a prophet, I, the LORD, will be his answer in person because of his many idols.
5 a fin de prender a la casa de Israel en su corazón, a aquellos que se han alejado de mí a causa de todas sus basuras.	5 Thus would I bring back to their senses the house of Israel, who have become estranged from me through all their idols.
6 Por eso, di a la casa de Israel: Así dice el Señor Yahveh: Convertíos, apartaos de vuestras basuras, de todas vuestras abominaciones apartad vuestro rostro,	6 Therefore say to the house of Israel: Thus says the Lord GOD: Return and be converted from your idols; turn yourselves away from all your abominations.
7 porque a todo hombre de la casa de Israel, o de los forasteros residentes en Israel, que se aleje de mí para erigir sus basuras en su corazón, que ponga delante de su rostro la ocasión de sus culpas, y se presente al profeta para consultarme, yo mismo, Yahveh, le responderé.	7 For if anyone of the house of Israel or any alien resident in Israel is estranged from me, and holds the memory of his idols in his heart and keeps the occasion of his sin before him, yet asks a prophet to consult me for him, I, the LORD, will be his answer in person.
8 Volveré mi rostro contra ese hombre, haré de él ejemplo y proverbio, le extirparé de en medio de mi pueblo, y sabréis que yo soy Yahveh.	8 I will turn against that man, and make of him an example and a byword. I will cut him off from the midst of my people. Thus you shall know that I am the LORD.
9 Y si el profeta se deja seducir y pronuncia una palabra, es que yo, Yahveh, he seducido a ese profeta; extenderé mi mano contra él y le exterminaré de en medio de mi pueblo Israel.	9 As for the prophet, if he is beguiled into speaking a word, I, the LORD, shall have beguiled that prophet; I will stretch out my hand against him and root him out of my people Israel.
10 Cargarán con el peso de sus culpas ambos: la culpa del profeta será como la del que le consulte.	10 Each shall receive punishment for his sin, the inquirer and the prophet shall be punished alike,
11 Así, la casa de Israel no se desviará más lejos de mí ni seguirá manchándose con todas sus culpas. Ellos serán mi pueblo y yo seré su Dios, oráculo del Señor Yahveh.	11 so that the house of Israel may no longer stray from me and may no longer be defiled by all their sins. Thus they shall be my people, and I will be their God, says the Lord GOD.
12 La palabra de Yahveh me fue dirigida en estos términos:	12 Thus the word of the LORD came to me:
13 Hijo de hombre, si un país peca contra mí cometiendo infidelidad, y yo extiendo mi mano contra él, destruyo su provisión de pan y envío contra él el hambre para extirpar de allí hombres y bestias,	13 Son of man, when a land sins against me by breaking faith, I stretch out my hand against it and break its staff of bread, I let famine loose upon it and cut off from it both man and beast;
14 y en ese país se hallan estos tres hombres, Noé, Danel y Job, ellos salvarán su vida por su justicia, oráculo del Señor Yahveh.	14 and even if these three men were in it, Noah, Daniel, and Job, they could save only themselves by their virtue, says the Lord GOD.
15 Si yo suelto las bestias feroces contra ese país para privarle de sus hijos y convertirle en una desolación por donde nadie pase a causa de las bestias,	15 If I were to cause wild beasts to prowl the land, depopulating it so that it became a waste, traversed by none because of the wild beasts,
16 y en ese país se hallan esos tres hombres: por mi vida, oráculo del Señor Yahveh, que ni hijos ni hijas podrán salvar; sólo se salvarán a sí mismos, pero el país quedará convertido en desolación.	16 and these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I swear they could save neither sons nor daughters; they alone would be saved, and the land would be a waste.
17 O bien, si yo hago venir contra ese país la espada, si digo: «Pase la espada por este país», y extirpo de él hombres y bestias,	17 Or if I brought the sword upon this country, commanding the sword to pass through the land cutting off from it man and beast,
18 y esos tres hombres se hallan en ese país: por mi vida, oráculo del Señor Yahveh, que no podrán salvar ni hijos ni hijas; ellos solos se salvarán.	18 and these three men were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, they would be unable to save either sons or daughters; they alone would be saved.
19 O si envío la peste sobre ese país y derramo en sangre mi furor contra ellos, extirpando de él hombres y bestias,	19 Or if I were to send pestilence into this land, pouring out upon it my bloodthirsty fury, cutting off from it man and beast,
20 y en ese país se hallan Noé, Danel y Job: por mi vida, oráculo del Señor Yahveh, que ni hijos ni hijas podrán salvar; sólo se salvarán a sí mismos por su justicia.	20 even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, says the Lord GOD, I swear that they could save neither son nor daughter; they would save only themselves by their virtue.
21 Pues así dice el Señor Yahveh: Aun cuando yo mande contra Jerusalén mis cuatro terribles azotes: espada, hambre, bestias feroces y peste, para extirpar de ella hombres y bestias,	21 Thus says the Lord GOD: Even though I send Jerusalem my four cruel punishments, the sword, famine, wild beasts, and pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast,
22 he aquí que quedan en ella algunos supervivientes que han podido salir, hijos e hijas; y he aquí que salen hacia vosotros, para que veáis su conducta y sus obras y os consoléis de la desgracia que yo he acarreado sobre Jerusalén, de todo lo que he acarreado sobre ella.	22 still some survivors shall be left in it who will bring out sons and daughters; when they come out to you, you shall see their conduct and their actions and be consoled regarding the evil I have brought on Jerusalem (all that I have brought upon it).
23 Ellos os consolarán cuando veáis su conducta y sus obras, y sabréis que no sin motivo hice yo todo lo que hice en ella, oráculo del Señor Yahveh.	23 They shall console you when you see their conduct and actions, for you shall then know that it was not without reason that I did to it what I did, says the Lord GOD.
