Ezequiel 1

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El año treinta, el día cinco el cuarto mes, encontrándome yo entre los deportados, a orillas del río Kebar, se abrió el cielo y contemplé visiones divinas.	1 In the thirtieth year, on the fifth day of the fourth month, as I was among the exiles by the River Chebar,heaven opened and I saw visions from God.
2 El día cinco del mes - era el año quinto de la deportación del rey Joaquín -	2 On the fifth of the month -- it was the fifth year of exile for King Jehoiachin-
3 la palabra de Yahveh fue dirigida al sacerdote Ezequiel, hijo de Buzí, en el país de los caldeos, a orillas del río Kebar, y allí fue sobre él la mano de Yahveh.	3 the word of Yahweh was addressed to the priest Ezekiel son of Buzi, in Chaldaea by the River Chebar.There the hand of Yahweh came on him.
4 Yo miré: vi un viento huracanado que venía del norte, una gran nube con fuego fulgurante y resplandores en torno, y en el medio como el fulgor del electro, en medio del fuego.	4 I looked; a stormy wind blew from the north, a great cloud with flashing fire and bril iant light round it,and in the middle, in the heart of the fire, a bril iance like that of amber,
5 Había en el centro como una forma de cuatro seres cuyo aspecto era el siguiente: tenían forma humana.	5 and in the middle what seemed to be four living creatures. They looked like this: They were of humanform.
6 Tenían cada uno cuatro caras, y cuatro alas cada uno.	6 Each had four faces, each had four wings.
7 Sus piernas eran rectas y la planta de sus pies era como la planta de la pezuña del buey, y relucían como el fulgor del bronce bruñido.	7 Their legs were straight; they had hooves like calves, glittering like polished brass.
8 Bajo sus alas había unas manos humanas vueltas hacia las cuatro direcciones, lo mismo que sus caras y sus alas, las de los cuatro.	8 Below their wings, they had human hands on all four sides corresponding to their four faces and fourwings.
9 Sus alas estaban unidas una con otra; al andar no se volvían; cada uno marchaba de frente.	9 They touched one another with their wings; they did not turn as they moved; each one moved straightforward.
10 En cuanto a la forma de sus caras, era una cara de hombre, y los cuatro tenían cara de león a la derecha, los cuatro tenían cara de toro a la iquierda, y los cuatro tenían cara de águila.	10 As to the appearance of their faces, al four had a human face, and a lion's face to the right, and allfour had a bull's face to the left, and al four had an eagle's face.
11 Sus alas estaban desplegadas hacia lo alto; cada uno tenía dos alas que se tocaban entre sí y otras dos que le cubrían el cuerpo;	11 Their wings were spread upwards, each had one pair touching its neighbour's, and the other paircovering its body.
12 y cada uno marchaba de frente; donde el espíritu les hacía ir, allí iban, y no se volvían en su marcha.	12 And each one moved straight forward; they went where the spirit urged them, they did not turn as theymoved.
13 Entre los seres había algo como brasas incandescentes, con aspecto de antorchas, que se movía entre los seres; el fuego despedía un resplandor, y del fuego salían rayos.	13 Between these living creatures were what looked like blazing coals, like torches, darting backwardsand forwards between the living creatures; the fire gave a bril iant light, and lightning flashed from the fire,
14 Y los seres iban y venían con el aspecto del relámpago.	14 and the living creatures kept disappearing and reappearing like flashes of lightning.
15 Miré entonces a los seres y vi que había una rueda en el suelo, al lado de los seres de cuatro caras.	15 Now, as I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel touching the ground beside each of the four-faced living creatures.
16 El aspecto de las ruedas y su estructura era como el destello del crisólito. Tenían las cuatro la misma forma y parecían dispuestas como si una rueda estuviese dentro de la otra.	16 The appearance and structure of the wheels were like glittering chrysolite. All four looked alike, andtheir appearance and structure were such that each wheel seemed to have another wheel inside it.
17 En su marcha avanzaban en las cuatro direcciones; no se volvían en su marcha.	17 In whichever of the four directions they moved, they did not need to turn as they moved.
18 Su circunferencia tenía gran altura, era imponente, y la circunferencia de las cuatro estaba llena de destellos todo alrededor.	18 Their circumference was of awe-inspiring size, and the rims of al four sparkled all the way round.
19 Cuando los seres avanzaban, avanzaban las ruedas junto a ellos, y cuando los seres se elevaban del suelo, se elevaban las ruedas.	19 When the living creatures moved, the wheels moved beside them; and when the living creatures leftthe ground, the wheels too left the ground.
20 Donde el espíritu les hacía ir, allí iban, y las ruedas se elevaban juntamente con ellos, porque el espíritu del ser estaba en las ruedas.	20 They moved in whichever direction the spirit chose to go, and the wheels rose with them, since thewheels shared the spirit of the animals.
21 Cuando avanzaban ellos, avanzaban ellas, cuando ellos se paraban, se paraban ellas, y cuando ellos se elevaban del suelo, las ruedas se elevaban juntamente con ellos, porque el espíritu del ser estaba en las ruedas.	21 When the living creatures moved on, they moved on; when the former halted, the latter halted; whenthe former left the ground, the wheels too left the ground, since the wheels shared the spirit of the animals.
22 Sobre las cabezas del ser había una forma de bóveda resplandeciente como el cristal, extendida por encima de sus cabezas,	22 Over the heads of the living creatures was what looked like a solid surface glittering like crystal,spread out over their heads, above them,
23 y bajo la bóveda sus alas estaban rectas, una paralela a la otra; cada uno tenía dos que le cubrían el cuerpo.	23 and under the solid surface, their wings were spread out straight, touching one another, and each hada pair covering its body.
24 Y oí el ruido de sus alas, como un ruido de muchas aguas, como la voz de Sadday; cuando marchaban, era un ruido atronador, como ruido de batalla; cuando se paraban, replegaban sus alas.	24 I also heard the noise of their wings; when they moved, it was like the noise of flood-waters, like thevoice of Shaddai, like the noise of a storm, like the noise of an armed camp; and when they halted, they loweredtheir wings;
25 Y se produjo un ruido.	25 there was a noise too.
26 Por encima de la bóveda que estaba sobre sus cabezas, había algo como una piedra de zafiro en forma de trono, y sobre esta forma de trono, por encima, en lo más alto, una figura de apariencia humana.	26 Beyond the solid surface above their heads, there was what seemed like a sapphire, in the form of athrone. High above on the form of a throne was a form with the appearance of a human being.
27 Vi luego como el fulgor del electro, algo como un fuego que formaba una envoltura, todo alrededor, desde lo que parecía ser sus caderas para arriba; y desde lo que parecía ser sus caderas para abajo, vi algo como fuego que porducía un resplandor en torno,	27 I saw a bril iance like amber, like fire, radiating from what appeared to be the waist upwards; and fromwhat appeared to be the waist downwards, I saw what looked like fire, giving a bril iant light al round.
28 con el aspecto del arco iris que aparece en las nubes los días de lluvia: tal era el aspecto de este resplandor, todo en torno. Era algo como la forma de la gloria de Yahveh. A su vista caí rostro en tierra y oí una voz que hablaba.	28 The radiance of the encircling light was like the radiance of the bow in the clouds on rainy days. Thesight was like the glory of Yahweh. I looked and fell to the ground, and I heard the voice of someone speaking tome.
