BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Se despliega vigorosamente de un confín al otro del mundo y gobierna de excelente manera el universo.	1 Strongly she reaches from one end of the world to the other and she governs the whole world for itsgood.
2 Yo la amé y la pretendí desde mi juventud; me esforcé por hacerla esposa mía y llegué a ser un apasionado de su belleza.	2 Wisdom I loved and searched for from my youth; I resolved to have her as my bride, I fel in love withher beauty.
3 Realza su nobleza por su convivencia con Dios, pues el Señor de todas las cosas la amó.	3 She enhances her noble birth by sharing God's life, for the Master of Al has always loved her.
4 Pues está iniciada en la ciencia de Dios y es la que elige sus obras.	4 Indeed, she shares the secrets of God's knowledge, and she chooses what he wil do.
5 Si en la vida la riqueza es una posesión deseable, ¿qué cosa más rica que la Sabiduría que todo lo hace?	5 If in this life wealth is a desirable possession, what is more wealthy than Wisdom whose work iseverywhere?
6 Si la inteligencia es creadora, ¿quién sino la Sabiduría es el artífice de cuanto existe?	6 Or if it be the intel ect that is at work, who, more than she, designs whatever exists?
7 ¿Amas la justicia? Las virtudes son sus empeños, pues ella enseña la templanza y la prudencia, la justicia y la fortaleza: lo más provechoso para el hombre en la vida.	7 Or if it be uprightness you love, why, virtues are the fruit of her labours, since it is she who teachestemperance and prudence, justice and fortitude; nothing in life is more useful for human beings.
8 ¿Deseas además gran experiencia? Ella conoce el pasado y conjetura el porvenir, sabe interpretar las máximas y resolver los enigmas, conoce de antemano las señales y los prodigios, así como la sucesión de épocas y tiempos.	8 Or if you are eager for wide experience, she knows the past, she forecasts the future; she knows how toturn maxims, and solve riddles; she has foreknowledge of signs and wonders, and of the unfolding of the agesand the times.
9 Decidí, pues, tomarla por compañera de mi vida, sabiendo que me sería una consejera para el bien y un aliento en las preocupaciones y penas:	9 I therefore determined to take her to share my life, knowing that she would be my counsel or inprosperity and comfort me in cares and sorrow.
10 «Tendré gracias a ella gloria entre la gente, y, aunque joven, honor ante los ancianos.	10 'Thanks to her, I shal be admired by the masses and honoured, though young, by the elders.
11 Apareceré agudo en el juicio y en presencia de los poderosos seré admirado.	11 I shall be reckoned shrewd as a judge, and the great wil be amazed at me.
12 Si callo, esperarán; si hablo, prestarán atención; si me alargo hablando, pondrán la mano en su boca.	12 They wil wait on my silences, and pay attention when I speak; if I speak at some length, they wil laytheir hand on their lips.
13 Gracias a ella tendré la inmortalidad y dejaré recuerdo eterno a los que después de mí vengan.	13 By means of her, immortality wil be mine, I shal leave an everlasting memory to my successors.
14 Gobernaré a los pueblos, y las naciones me estarán sometidas.	14 I shall govern peoples, and nations wil be subject to me;
15 Oyendo hablar de mí, soberanos terribles temerán. Me mostraré bueno entre las multitudes y valiente en la guerra.	15 at the sound of my name fearsome despots will be afraid; I shal show myself kind to the people andvaliant in battle.
16 Vuelto a casa, junto a ella descansaré, pues no causa amargura su compañía ni tristeza la convivencia con ella, sino satisfacción y alegría».	16 'When I go home I shal take my ease with her, for nothing is bitter in her company, when life is sharedwith her there is no pain, nothing but pleasure and joy.'
17 Pensando esto conmigo mismo y considerando en mi corazón que se encuentra la inmortalidad en emparentar con la Sabiduría,	17 Having meditated on al this, and having come to the conclusion that immortality resides in kinship withWisdom,
18 en su amistad un placer bueno, en los trabajos de sus manos inagotables riquezas, prudencia en cultivar su trato y prestigio en conversar con ella, por todos los medios buscaba la manera de hacérmela mía.	18 noble contentment in her friendship, inexhaustible riches in her activities, understanding in cultivatingher society, and renown in conversing with her, I went al ways, seeking how to get her.
19 Era yo un muchacho de buen natural, me cupo en suerte un alma buena,	19 I was a boy of happy disposition, I had received a good soul as my lot,
20 o más bien, siendo bueno, vine a un cuerpo incontaminado;	20 or rather, being good, I had entered an undefiled body;
21 pero, comprendiendo que no podría poseer la Sabiduría si Dios no me la daba, - y ya era un fruto de la prudencia saber de quién procedía esta gracia - recurrí al Señor y le pedí, y dije con todo mi corazón:	21 but, realising that I could never possess Wisdom unless God gave her to me, -a sign of intel igence initself, to know in whose gift she lay -- I prayed to the Lord and entreated him, and with all my heart I said:
