1 Dios dijo a Jacob: «Levántate, sube a Betel y te estableces allí, haciendo un altar al Dios que se te apareció cuando huías de tu hermano Esaú.»	1 And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
2 Jacob dijo a su casa y a todos los que le acompañaban: «Retirad los dioses extraños que hay entre vosotros. Purificaos, y mudaos de vestido.	2 Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:
3 Luego, levantémonos y subamos a Betel, y haré allí un altar al Dios que me dio respuesta favorable el día de mi tribulación, y que me asistió en mi viaje.»	3 And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.
4 Ellos entregaron a Jacob todos los dioses extraños que había en su poder, y los anillos de sus orejas, y Jacob los escondió debajo de la encina que hay al pie de Siquem.	4 And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
5 Partieron, pues, y un pánico divino cayó sobre las ciudades de sus contornos; así no persiguieron a los hijos de Jacob.	5 And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.
6 Jacob llegó a Luz, que está en territorio cananeo - es Betel - junto con todo el pueblo que le acompañaba,	6 So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Bethel, he and all the people that were with him.
7 y edificó allí un altar, llamando al lugar El Betel, porque allí mismo se le había aparecido Dios cuando huía de su hermano.	7 And he built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.
8 Débora, la nodriza de Rebeca, murió y fue sepultada en las inmediaciones de Betel, debajo de una encina; y él la llamó la Encina del Llanto.	8 But Deborah Rebekah's nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allon-bachuth.
9 Dios se apareció a Jacob una vez más a su llegada de Paddán Aram y le bendijo.	9 And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padan-aram, and blessed him.
10 Díjole Dios: «Tu nombre es Jacob, pero ya no te llamarás Jacob, sino que tu nombre será Israel.» Y le llamó Israel.	10 And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.
11 Díjole Dios: «Yo soy El Sadday. Sé fecundo y multiplícate. Un pueblo, una asamblea de pueblos tomará origen de ti y saldrán reyes de tus entrañas.	11 And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;
12 La tierra que di a Abraham e Isaac, a ti te la doy, y a tu descendencia y sucesión daré esta tierra.»	12 And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.
13 Y Dios subió de su lado.	13 And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him.
14 Jacob erigió una estela en el lugar donde había hablado Dios con él: una estela de piedra; derramó sobre ella una libación, y vertió sobre ella aceite.	14 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.
15 Jacob llamó a lugar donde había hablado Dios con él «Betel».	15 And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel.
16 Partieron de Betel, y cuando aún faltaba un trecho hasta Efratá, Raquel tuvo un mal parto.	16 And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.
17 Sucedió que, en medio de los apuros del parto, le dijo la comadrona: «¡Animo, que también este es hijo!»	17 And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.
18 Entonces ella, al exhalar el alma, cuando moría, le llamó Ben Oní; pero su padre le llamó Benjamín.	18 And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Ben-oni: but his father called him Benjamin.
19 Murió Raquel y fue sepultada en el camino de Efratá, o sea Belén.	19 And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.
20 Jacob erigió una estela sobre su sepulcro: es la estela del sepulcro de Raquel hasta hoy.	20 And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel's grave unto this day.
21 Israel partió y desplegó su tienda más allá de Migdal Eder.	21 And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.
22 Sucedió por entonces, mientras Israel residía en aquel país, que fue Rubén y se acostó con Bilhá, la concubina de su padre, e Israel se enteró de ello. Los hijos de Jacob fueron doce.	22 And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father's concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:
23 Hijos de Lía: el primogénito de Jacob, Rubén; después Simeón, Leví, Judá, Isacar y Zabulón.	23 The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:
24 Hijos de Raquel: José y Benjamín.	24 The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin:
25 Hijos de Bilhá, la esclava de Raquel: Dan y Neftalí.	25 And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:
26 Hijos de Zilpá, la esclava de Lía: Gad y Aser. Estos fueron los hijos de Jacob, que le nacieron en Paddán Aram.	26 And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padan-aram.
27 Jacob llegó adonde su padre Isaac, a Mambré o Quiryat Arbá, - o sea, Hebrón - donde residieron Abraham e Isaac.	27 And Jacob came unto Isaac his father unto Mamre, unto the city of Arbah, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.
28 Isaac alcanzó la edad de 180 años.	28 And the days of Isaac were an hundred and fourscore years.
29 Entonces Isaac expiró y murió, fue a reunirse con su pueblo, anciano y lleno de días. Le sepultaron sus hijos Esaú y Jacob.	29 And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
