LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Giobbe prese la parola e disse:	1 Job spoke next. He said:
2 "Certo, so che è così; come può un uomo essere giusto davanti a Dio?	2 Indeed, I know it is as you say: how could anyone claim to be upright before God?
3 Se uno volesse disputare con lui, non gli risponderebbe una volta su mille.	3 Anyone trying to argue matters with him, could not give him one answer in a thousand.
4 Chi, saggio di mente e potente per la forza, gli si è opposto ed è rimasto illeso?	4 Among the wisest and the hardiest, who then can successful y defy him?
5 Egli sposta le montagne senza che se ne avvedano e le sconvolge nella sua collera.	5 He moves the mountains, though they do not know it; he throws them down when he is angry.
6 Egli scuote la terra dal suo posto e le sue colonne vacillano.	6 He shakes the earth, and moves it from its place, making al its pil ars tremble.

25 I miei giorni passano più veloci di un corriere, fuggono senza gustare felicità.	25 My days pass: more swiftly than a runner they flee away with never a glimpse of happiness,
26 Scorrono veloci come barche di giunco, come aquila che piomba sulla preda.	26 they skim past like a reed canoe, like an eagle swooping on its prey.
27 Se dico: "Voglio dimenticare la mia afflizione, cambiare il mio volto ed essere lieto",	27 If I decide to stifle my complaining, change countenance, and wear a smiling face,
28 mi spavento per tutte le sofferenze; e poi so che tu non mi assolverai.	28 fear seizes me at the thought of al my woes, for I know you do not regard me as innocent.
29 Se sono colpevole, perché affaticarmi invano?	29 And if I have done wrong, why should I put myself to useless trouble?
