1 After Abimelech, Tola son of Puah, son of Dodo, rose to deliver Israel. 14 Go and cry to the gods whom you have chosen. Let them rescue you in your time of trouble.'	14 Andate a raccomandarvi agli dèi che avete eletti: essi vi liberino nel tempo delle angustie! »
15 The Israelites replied to Yahweh, 'We have sinned. Treat us as you see fit, but please rescue ustoday.'	15 E i figli d'Israele risposero al Signore: « Noi abbiamo peccato: trattaci come vuoi; ma ora liberaci! »
16 They got rid of their foreign gods and served Yahweh, who could bear Israel's suffering no longer.	16 Dicendo queste cose gettarono oltre i loro confini gli idoli degli dèi stranieri e servirono al Signore Dio, il quale ebbe compassione delie loro miserie.
17 The Ammonites gathered and pitched camp in Gilead. The Israelites ral ied and pitched camp atMizpah.	17 Avendo i figli d'Ammon con alte grida piantate le tende in Galaad, i figli d'Israele si adunarono contro di loro e posero il campo in Masfa.
18 The people, the chieftains of Gilead, then said to one another, 'Who wil volunteer to attack theAmmonites? He shall be chief of al who live in Gilead!'	18 Or i principi di Galaad si dissero l'uno all'altro: « Il primo di noi che comincerà a combattere contro i figli d'Ammon sarà capo del popolo di Galaad ».
