Judges 10

1 After Abimelech, Tola son of Puah, son of Dodo, rose to deliver Israel. He belonged to Issachar andlived at Shamir in the mountain country of Ephraim.	1 Post Abimelech surrexit dux ad salvandum Israel Thola fi lius Phua filii Dodo, vir de Issachar, qui habitavit in Samir montis Ephraim.
2 He was judge in Israel for twenty-three years; he then died and was buried at Shamir.	2 Et iudicavit Israel viginti et tribus annis mortuusque ac sepultus est in Samir.
3 After him rose Jair of Gilead, who judged Israel for twenty-two years.	3 Huic successit Iair Galaadites, qui iudicavit Israel per viginti et duos annos
4 He had thirty sons who rode on thirty young donkeys and who owned thirty towns, stil known today asthe Encampments of Jair, in the territory of Gilead.	4 habens triginta filios sedentes super triginta pullos asinarum, et ipsis erant triginta civitates, quae appellatae sunt Havoth Iair (id est villae Iair) usque in praesentem diem, in terra Galaad.
5 Jair then died and was buried at Kamon.	5 Mortuusque est Iair ac sepultus in Camon.
6 The Israelites again began doing what is evil in Yahweh's eyes. They served Baal and Astarte, and thegods of Aram and Sidon, the gods of Moab and those of the Ammonites and Philistines. They deserted Yahwehand served him no more.	6 Filii autem Israel peccatis veteribus iungentes nova fecerunt malum in conspectu Domini et servierunt Baalim et Astharoth et diis Syriae ac Sidonis et Moab et filiorum Ammon et Philisthim; dimiseruntque Dominum et non colebant eum.
7 Yahweh's anger then grew hot against Israel and he gave them over into the power of the Philistinesand the power of the Ammonites,	7 Contra quos iratus tradidit eos in manu Philisthim et filiorum Ammon.
8 who from that year onwards crushed and oppressed the Israelites for eighteen years -- all thoseIsraelites living on the other side of the Jordan in Amorite territory, in Gilead.	8 Afflictique sunt et vehementer oppressi per annos decem et octo omnes filii Israel, qui habitabant trans Iordanem in terra Amorraei in Galaad;
9 Furthermore, the Ammonites would cross the Jordan and also make war on Judah, Benjamin and theHouse of Ephraim, so that Israel was in distress.	9 in tantum ut filii Ammon Iordanem transirent ad pugnandum etiam contra Iudam et Beniamin et domum Ephraim; afflictusque est Israel nimis.
10 The Israelites then cried to Yahweh and said, 'We have sinned against you, because we have turnedfrom Yahweh our God to serve Baals.'	10 Et clamantes filii Israel ad Dominum dixerunt: “ Peccavimus tibi, quia dereliquimus Deum nostrum et servivimus Baalim ”.
11 And Yahweh said to the Israelites, 'When Egyptians and Amorites, Ammonites and Philistines,	11 Quibus locutus est Dominus: “ Numquid non Aegyptii et Amorraei filiique Ammon et Philisthim,
12 when the Sidonians, Amalek and Midian oppressed you and you cried to me, did I not rescue youfrom their power?	12 Sidonii quoque et Amalec et Madian oppresserunt vos, et clamastis ad me, et erui vos de manu eorum?
13 But it is you who have forsaken me and served other gods; and so I shall rescue you no more.	13 Et tamen reliquistis me et coluistis deos alienos; idcirco non addam ut ultra vos liberem.
14 Go and cry to the gods whom you have chosen. Let them rescue you in your time of trouble.'	14 Ite et invocate deos, quos elegistis: ipsi vos liberent in tempore angustiae! ”.
15 The Israelites replied to Yahweh, 'We have sinned. Treat us as you see fit, but please rescue ustoday.'	15 Dixeruntque filii Israel ad Dominum: “Peccavimus; redde tu nobis, quidquid tibi placet, tantum nunc libera nos ”.
16 They got rid of their foreign gods and served Yahweh, who could bear Israel's suffering no longer.	16 Quae dicentes omnia de finibus suis alienorum deorum idola proiecerunt et servierunt Domino, qui doluit super miseriis Israel.
17 The Ammonites gathered and pitched camp in Gilead. The Israelites ral ied and pitched camp atMizpah.	17 Itaque filii Ammon convocati in Galaad fixere tentoria; contra quos congregati filii Israel in Maspha castrametati sunt.
18 The people, the chieftains of Gilead, then said to one another, 'Who wil volunteer to attack theAmmonites? He shall be chief of al who live in Gilead!'	18 Dixeruntque populus, principes Galaad, singuli ad proximos suos: “ Qui primus contra filios Ammon coeperit dimicare, erit dux omnium habitatorum Galaad ”.
