NEW JERUSALEM	SMITH VAN DYKE
1 Simon Peter, servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith as precious as ourown, given through the saving justice of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ.	1 سمعان بطرس عبد يسوع المسيح ورسوله الى الذين نالوا معنا ايمانا ثمينا مساويا لنا ببر الهنا والمخلص يسوع المسيح.
2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of our Lord.	2 لتكثر لكم النعمة والسلام بمعرفة الله ويسوع ربنا
3 By his divine power, he has lavished on us all the things we need for life and for true devotion, throughthe knowledge of him who has called us by his own glory and goodness.	3 كما ان قدرته الالهية قد وهبت لنا كل ما هو للحياة والتقوى بمعرفة الذي دعانا بالمجد والفضيلة
4 Through these, the greatest and priceless promises have been lavished on us, that through them youshould share the divine nature and escape the corruption rife in the world through disordered passion.	4 اللذين بهما قد وهب لنا المواعيد العظمى والثمينة لكي تصيروا بها شركاء الطبيعة الالهية هاربين من الفساد الذي في العالم بالشهوة.
5 With this in view, do your utmost to support your faith with goodness, goodness with understanding,	5 ولهذا عينه وانتم باذلون كل اجتهاد قدموا في ايمانكم فضيلة وفي الفضيلة معرفة
6 understanding with self-control, self-control with perseverance, perseverance with devotion,	6 وفي المعرفة تعففا وفي التعفف صبرا وفي الصبر تقوى
7 devotion with kindness to the brothers, and kindness to the brothers with love.	7 وفي التقوى مودة اخوية وفي المودة الاخوية محبة.
8 The possession and growth of these qualities wil prevent your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ frombeing ineffectual or unproductive.	8 لان هذه اذا كانت فيكم وكثرت تصيّركم لا متكاسلين ولا غير مثمرين لمعرفة ربنا يسوع المسيح.
9 But without them, a person is blind or short-sighted, forgetting how the sins of the past were washedaway.	9 لان الذي ليس عنده هذه هو اعمى قصير البصر قد نسي تطهير خطاياه السالفة.
10 Instead of this, brothers, never allow your choice or cal ing to waver; then there wil be no danger ofyour stumbling,	10 لذلك بالاكثر اجتهدوا ايها الاخوة ان تجعلوا دعوتكم واختياركم ثابتين. لانكم اذا فعلتم ذلك لن تزلّوا ابدا.
11 for in this way you wil be given the generous gift of entry to the eternal kingdom of our Lord andSaviour Jesus Christ.	11 لانه هكذا يقدم لكم بسعة دخول الى ملكوت ربنا ومخلّصنا يسوع المسيح الابدي
12 That is why I wil always go on recal ing the same truths to you, even though you already know themand are firmly fixed in these truths.	12 لذلك لا اهمل ان اذكّركم دائما بهذه الامور وان كنتم عالمين ومثبتين في الحق الحاضر.
13 I am sure it is my duty, as long as I am in this tent, to keep stirring you up with reminders,	13 ولكني احسبه حقا ما دمت في هذا المسكن ان انهضكم بالتذكرة
14 since I know the time for me to lay aside this tent is coming soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clearto me.	14 عالما ان خلع مسكني قريب كما اعلن لي ربنا يسوع المسيح ايضا.
15 And I shal take great care that after my own departure you will stil have a means to recal thesethings to mind.	15 فأجتهد ايضا ان تكونوا بعد خروجي تتذكرون كل حين بهذه الامور.
16 When we told you about the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, we were not slavishlyrepeating cleverly invented myths; no, we had seen his majesty with our own eyes.	16 لاننا لم نتبع خرافات مصنعة اذ عرّفناكم بقوة ربنا يسوع المسيح ومجيئه بل قد كنا معاينين عظمته.
17 He was honoured and glorified by God the Father, when a voice came to him from the transcendentGlory, This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour.	17 لانه اخذ من الله الآب كرامة ومجدا اذ اقبل عليه صوت كهذا من المجد الاسنى هذا هو ابني الحبيب الذي انا سررت به.
18 We ourselves heard this voice from heaven, when we were with him on the holy mountain.	18 ونحن سمعنا هذا الصوت مقبلا من السماء اذ كنا معه في الجبل المقدس.
19 So we have confirmation of the words of the prophets; and you wil be right to pay attention to it as to a lamp for lighting a way through the dark, until the dawn comes and the morning star rises in your minds.	19 وعندنا الكلمة النبوية وهي اثبت التي تفعلون حسنا ان انتبهتم اليها كما الى سراج منير في موضع مظلم الى ان ينفجر النهار ويطلع كوكب الصبح في قلوبكم
20 At the same time, we must recognise that the interpretation of scriptural prophecy is never a matter forthe individual.	20 عالمين هذا اولا ان كل نبوة الكتاب ليست من تفسير خاص.
21 For no prophecy ever came from human initiative. When people spoke for God it was the Holy Spiritthat moved them.	21 لانه لم تأت نبوة قط بمشيئة انسان بل تكلم اناس الله القديسون مسوقين من الروح القدس
